As someone who has always drawn mostly humanoid characters, now having a character who is part bird is a reallllll challenge. 😂 It's tough when I suddenly can't rely on my muscle memory for expressions and head angles anymore because BEAK.

Hello everyone, I am making another one of these posts in case anyone would like to buy a print from me, or subscribe to my patreon, or just send in a tip. My whole life has recently been thrown in a loop. The kind of situation where it's like. "it only takes one medical emergency."

I spent my birthday at the hospital. Some of the darkest days of my life. Ti-rads 4 giant goiter that needed to be removed, awake intubation. Blessedly, my biopsy was benign, and I don't remember anything from the surgery. anesthesiologists said my airways almost collapsed. In some medical debt. But I am so happy I am alive. On a battalion of meds. I only just now started being able to move around as normal. I need all the help I can get from community. I had no income the two months I was sick. My mother is unable to move independently. My father has kidney failure, and my sister is pretty much my kid. She is autistic with a very low frustration threshold. I am the only person in my family who works, and I have three jobs, but all of which are unstable. I need to take thyroid h*rm*ne replacement for the rest of my life as maintenance medicine; as all of the funds I received from my gofundme was poured into surgeon fees. I'm penniless with a calcium deficiency, legit nothing to eat with a family of four to take care of ): please help me recover, help me buy calcium supplements and my thyroid maintenance medicine as I am essentially someone with hypothyroidism, and meds to treat my diabetes (sitaglipin and metformin). I only have around 6 days left of medicine before I run out. I am so grateful to still be alive, and I owe it all to you guys, and I am hoping everyone can still be generous to help me rebuild what is my new life as someone disabled with no support system irl. Thank you so so much.

Made the mistake of sharing the form link on twitter (never doing that again) so I'm just remaking my commission post and updating the links. PLUS I found out Patreon actually hasn't rolled me over to their Apple App Store subscription model (and they just won a ruling delaying/cancelling this further?) so my commission tiers can stay open through the month!

Friends if you need some hope in these dire times let me tell you about the radicalization of my mother.

She was raised somewhat conservatively and never really questioned it; our household was mostly a 'we don't do politics' one, until 16 year old me started throwing wrenches into polite conversation as I was learning about social justice. I've always really struggled with doing that, because my fiery sense of justice is locked in an eternal battle with my debilitating fear of conflict, and I've always assumed my speaking up at the dinner table didn't accomplish much other than bum everyone out and give me panic attacks.

However, skip a few years forward and suddenly the whole family agrees on that thing I used to ruin dinner over. And now I'm ruining dinner over the next societal issue I've learned about. Skip another year and suddenly my mother is talking to her mother about these issues. Two more years and she's subscribed to leftist newsletters, signing petitions, donating to grassroots organizations. Skip to 2025 and now she's at a demonstration with me and my brother! She's challenging xenophobic rhetoric at her new work place! She is passionate and brave and she's learning and she's out there doing her part! As I grow, she's been growing a couple steps behind. And I'm just constantly amazed at how far she's come and so proud to be her kid.

My takeaway from this is first: don't let anyone tell you the older generation is incapable of change, or that people only ever get more conservative with age. And second: even if it doesn't feel like it in the moment, speaking out makes a difference, and it is absolutely worth the discomfort. Ruin a dinner or two, then give it time. You don't always have to make big waves - go make ripples.

Tis the season, so I had the sudden urge to draw Raiden and Sigmar at pride. Loved emphasizing their vastly different expressions of queerness ✨

Raiden is pansexual and demiromantic. Sigmar is ace! Both these things are not something I ever consciously decided about them, it just made sense as I got to know them over the past four years. Funny how that goes ♥️

Currently Reading: I just finished Splinter & Ash by Marieke Nijkamp, which I thoroughly enjoyed! Meanwhile, slowly working my way through 'S' by JJ Abrams & Doug Dorst. Look at this motherfucker.

The entire story takes place in the margins of this fictional book, Ship of Theseus, and it contains all those newspaper clippings and post cards as inserts. You can see why, as a book designer myself, I am THRILLED with something like this. I'm about a third of the way through, fingers crossed the story lives up to the mind-blowing design work.

Last Film: I rarely watch films tbh! But I've been bingeing other people's Outer Wilds playthroughs on YouTube, I feel like that counts.

Working On: new notepad designs, another Dragon Age Veilguard print, packing etsy orders, also an embroidery project, planning to renovate my home office, reactivity training with Soup. Probably like eleven more things I'm forgetting.
