My journey of workaholism and artistic growth finally ended yesterday after 146 total days in a row w only 2 days OFF! I thought it was less but @brynning_ kept track because I have barely seen her. I just had a birthday. After this year of constant 7 days a week tattooing, I’m posting my favorite tattoos of this last year. I started my apprenticeship around the age of 16, now I’m 46 so this makes 30 years that I’ve lived in tattoo shops everyday. Even at 30 years I’m on a mission to be better and learn more. This year I started using new machines from @axysrotary @hardliferotaries @inkjecta etc and am currently using the Valhalla pen from Axys. I’ve used new needle groupings everyday, different color palettes from @intenzetattooink & @worldfamousink And @eternalink I also did art for 12-15 hours a day, 7 days a week and did collaborative tattoos every chance I got, I did this piece SOLO inside my private studio @ANTiArtElite but I tattooed with @jordi_m4l @ruubenart @derekscottart and currently am doing 10 days w/ @crushcaptaintattoo and have an upcoming collaboration collection w @koote23 Who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks? Change and growth are hard, it requires constant focus and early morning alarms. I’ve missed an ocean of time w/ my wife @brynning_ and my family. But it worked.... I taught seminars for years all over the world about how we were blending colors and doing black and grey at @AONtattoo and now much of that has changed, while I still utilize the older more familiar techniques and coil machines, my bag of tricks has expanded and caught up to those crazy Europeans and Russians doing ridiculous tattoos everyday. It’s been brutal and completely exhausting. My birthday was only my second day off in 146 total days. It’s awesome. I slept in. Tattooing is a gift.
