Would work with either, Drake or Lamy being the one saved, depending on the situation, the verse we set this in etc. Definitely a good idea for an initial encounter! We could set it during the Submarine’s Smile verse or any other, really, depending on where we’d want the relationship to go overall, we could have it set in the verse where Lamy works for the WG... There’s OPTIONS 😉

Don’t get me wrong, he obviously cares for his crew mates, in his own way, but not exactly... in the manner other pirate captains might care for their crews. They are not his friends, they are either fellow marine soldiers undercover as pirates or pirates unaware of their captain’s true identity.   

He relies on them as much as it is necessary to accomplish his goal, as... means to an end, as harsh as it might sound. But would he ever actually consider them worth an effort like this?

No. Not really.

Should he really have no choice, though... a secure hideout would be the easiest option to go with and later explain away. So, even if only for the sake of appearances - he is fond of a practical, pragmatic solution to the dilemma presented. really.
