I headcanon that Peeta finding out Katniss is pregnant went something like this:
“Annie invited us over to see her son. Johanna will be there too. So would the others. And you could see your mother,” he says.
“That’d be lovely. If it weren’t… if it…” she mumbles, looking down shyly.
“If it weren’t for what? What?”
A smile creeps up on her face. “If it weren’t for the baby.”
He stands there for a while, lost for words. “You— what? When did…?”
“I… I just found out,” she giggles.
“Isn’t it just wonderful?” he exclaims, feeling over the moon. “God, you make me so happy!”
“I’m terrified,” she admits.
“Of course you are. It’s normal,” he smiles. “Don’t worry, I’ll be here in every step of the way.”
“Thank you.”
He smiles again and kisses her cheek. “I love you so much.”
