This is random ramblings, but Jinki had to know that he’d be taking a hiatus even before HARD came out. He had to know that he was taking care of his health, and that none of the members would ever, ever judge their leader for choosing to be healthy.

It’s just the truth, at this point. They’ve all renewed their contracts. Like Kibum said, if they were going to leave, they’d leave together. If SHINee does anything, it will always be together.

Ngl I’m tired af of Shawols on twitter complaining about ot4s. Ot4s are terrible but they exist, they’ve existed since debut, and bringing more attention to them and complaining about them isn’t going to make them go away. Jinki is my ult bias, probably will be forever, but there’s something to be said about bringing further attention to negativity, and thus spreading it, wether that’s your intention or not.

It is so very easy to practice internet literacy, to not look at things that make you upset, that at some point I have to wonder if these people just WANT to be upset. I understand, in a way. Anger can be a much easier emotion than helplessness, but Jinki is a grown man. He doesn’t need protecting from his fans, he has bodyguards and managers and a PR team. He’s been in the industry for 15 years, almost half his life, I promise that he KNOWS how to avoid looking at negative posts about him. As much work as he’s been doing for his mental health recently, I can’t see him as someone who would intentionally seek that stuff out. Honestly, I don’t see him looking at social media much at all. Of course, I don’t know him, I could be wrong. But that isn’t my or anyone else’s call to make.

I engage with the fandoms of my groups because it makes me happy. Being reminded of and seeing complaints about ot4s every other post on my tl, that doesn’t make me happy. It bums me out, and I’m not even seeing posts by actual ot4s. I blocked any ot4 account I could find months ago. It just makes me sad that even when I go out of my way to avoid engaging with ot4 content, it’s inevitably brought up by Shawols who I’m sure MEAN well, but really are just making more content related to ot4s.

I realize that, technically, I’m sort of doing the same thing now by even talking about this. This is the only post I’ll make on the subject, and I’ll make sure to tag it as tw ot4 for people who don’t want to engage or look at anything involving them.

As a Jjinggu, I feel like I have to preface this by saying that OBVIOUSLY Jinki is SHINee’s leader, and that he’s the best leader for SHINee, and that it wouldn’t truly be SHINee if Jinki weren’t the leader. That being said, I feel like - in a way - Kim Kibum is the second-in-command of SHINee. He seems very interconnected with SMs internal affairs: well respected and liked within the higher ups in the company as well as by his peers, even those that are older than him like BoA. When SM fucks up with SHINee’s management, Kibum seems to be the one to call them out, and the one that gets them to fix their mess.

If Jinki is the leader of SHINee’s members, the one that makes sure that his members are cared for and looked after, Kibum is the person that makes sure that SHINee as a brand is looked after. He has an incredible mind for business, and has in the past called out that it’s ridiculous to think of a company as family, when they’re all under contract. Obviously every member cares for SHINee deeply, but Kibum seems to have the most outward, public vested interest in holding SM accountable for their blunders in SHINee’s management. Jinki takes care of SHINee’s personal well-being, and Kibum takes care of their professional well-being.

Of course, of course, this is not to say that Jinki as the leader does not actively guide and protect and care for SHINee on a company and professional level. He assuredly does. He’s been the leader of SHINee for 15 years, that is not a feat someone could accomplish without a steel backbone and an incredible kind of strength. I’m simply saying that Kibum possesses a different but equally incredible strength, and that without that strength, I don’t think that SHINee would be able to stand on their own ten feet as they do now.

If Jinki is the emotional leader of SHINee, guiding and protecting them with sunlight and a gentle hand; then Kibum is the calculated mind behind the throne, taking care of external affairs so Jinki has more time to focus on the members themselves; but he’s also more outwardly engaged, deflecting attention from Jinki so that he has time to think through his words and actions, and time to come to a decision that he truly thinks is best for the team.

They work so seamlessly together that you wouldn’t notice it usually, but once you think about it, it’s kind of hard to stop seeing it. That being said, all SHINee members are brilliant. They know what’s going on with their company right now, and of course they’re taking steps to handle whatever comes. We, as Shawols, just have to do exactly as Minho said, and trust them.

Broo the fact that The Feeling was produced for Shawol 15th anniversary, at a point in time where SHINee and Shawol hadn’t actually met in 4 years. “The feeling” that they’re singing about, that they’re wishing for, is the feeling of being onstage surrounded by SHINee World.

The lyrics can be interpreted either as being from SHINee -> Shawol, or Shawol -> SHINee. The lyrics work from both perspectives, and change meaning based on which perspective you’re focusing on.

“Set fire to the dark and show you my light//A long arc I draw a path for you//Hold your head up, where you stand is in the right//Every bit of you I'll illuminate.” The reference to SHINee World is evident. In a time when they hadn’t seen a pearl aqua ocean AS SHINee in 4 years, I’m sure they were missing that light. Their name means “ones who receive light,” but as a Shawol I feel like they always reflect it back twice as bright. So it works just as easily to think of it as a reassurance to Shawol, that SHINee will be there to illuminate their path.

“I wanna feel//I'll be the light you seek even in dreams//Running parallel and right next to you//When you feel me, look up//I'll feel you close sending shivers across my skin.” Again, can be seen from either SHINee or Shawol’s perspective. I also feel as though the “look up” lyric is in reference to Jjong, because honestly his presence is in every single lyric.

The ending lyric being “I wanna feel again,” is very telling. At the point the song was produced, each of them had had fanmeetings and concerts individually; but “the feeling” they’re talking about is specific to standing on stage as five, and hearing and feeling Shawols presence.

That’s what they were wishing for, and what they got to do when they performed the song for the first time. It truly is a celebration of the reunion of SHINee and Shawol, and it makes me so, so happy.
