PETITIONS

Willie Simmons has spent 38 years in prison for a $9 robbery. He had two prior convictions similar to robbery that he served time for. He was prosecuted under the Alabama Habitual Offender law and was given a life sentence for his third strike - stealing 9 (NINE) dollars. Sign his petition. 

Breonna Taylor was killed by police who were conducting an UNANNOUNCED drug raid, where they gave no request to enter. They bashed her door and entered, shooting her EIGHT times. They were in the WRONG HOUSE. 

George Floyd was killed by a police officer who knelt on his neck and suffocated him to death, after George pleaded with the officer and told him he couldn’t breathe. The officer had pulled him from where he sat in his car on an alleged FORGERY. You can also text “FLOYD” to 55156

ARREST THE OFFICERS WHO KILLED GEORGE FLOYD: The main police officer who murdered George is being kept in PROTECTIVE CUSTODY. You probably have heard he was arrested, but this is NOT TRUE. He was placed under PROTECTIVE custody because of the riots and “threats” on his life. 

If you know of ANY other organizations or petitions, PLEASE ADD TO THIS LIST. The fight for justice doesn’t end here, it will never end. Especially when the president of the United States calls white supremacists good people and protesters of a mans death THUGS. USE YOUR VOICE. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE. FUCK COPS. FUCK “BLUE LIVES”. as the year comes to the end, i just want to thank everyone who’s stuck it out with me. i have changed blogs more than i’ve changed my hair (which is a LOT), and to have friends who genuinely love and care enough about me to follow my dumbass. i love everyone who has supported my writing, my shitposting and my all-in-all big baby-dumb-bitchism. 

anyway, i wish for all of you, not just the people tagged, all of you who bother to read this, i wish for you all to love yourself more this coming year. be nicer to yourself. put yourself first. make time for yourself. get to know yourself. i know it’s easier said than done, but this is a new year. a brand new decade. you are incredibly worthy of the love you put out; save more of that love for yourself. 

anyway, below are just some very wonderful people who have helped me learn the lessons i am so strongly encouraging you to incorporate in your life above. without them, i would not be as forgiving of myself today. i would not be as confident as a writer as i am now. thank you, and i can never thank you enough. i love you. thank you for watering me and shedding light over me to help me grow.

The library was very quiet today, one of the upsides of walking thirty-five minutes to an off-campus location. Sure, it sucked because it was super cold, but it beat the excessive body heat from various strangers crammed in a bus and the insane amount of traffic if you were to take a car. Plus, a five minute drive wasn’t worth the money for an uber. So, you decided walking was your best bet: cost efficient, less people and nobody in your way.

Well, almost nobody in your way.

You nearly dropped the three books in your hands when the person in front of you almost trampled you two to the ground.

“Sorry,” he mumbled, not even giving you a second glance. You narrowed your eyes at the back of his head, not finding it in you to get a snarky remark out. Right now, you just needed to finish this paper to turn in as your final. You wrote the paper, you didn’t have to take the test. Fair, right?

Except it had to be a fifteen-page analytical essay about the idea of age versus maturity. Yawn.

You peeled off your layers: the scarf, the two jackets and rolled up the sleeves of your burnt-yellow long sleeve; holy shit was it hot in here. Who would’ve known cheap, ancient city-public libraries had heaters?

For a Saturday, there were a few more people than you anticipated, mostly taking over the computers. There were only two available. One that already had someone at the same table, and one more that was secluded in the corner. No one used it. You guessed it was because they weren’t the newly bought Apple computers that the library upgraded to a couple of months ago. But, that just meant that table was always free. No people.

So, you picked the old-fashioned computer. You’d take the slower connection over having to talk to anyone any day.

You went to turn on the computer, only to see that it was already on – and it looked like someone else was already using it. You frowned, glancing around to see if anyone was walking back toward the table to tell you off. It didn’t look like it. You looked back at the screen, seeing that Pandora was opened on one tab and an email opened on the other, along with an unsaved word document with twelve pages written up.

You cautiously walked over to the closest desk, tapping the person on the shoulder. “Hey, sorry, do you know if someone is sitting there?” You asked, pointing toward the desk you wanted to occupy. The person shook their head.

“Pretty sure they just left,” they said, putting their earbud in, deciding they’d given you a good enough answer for you to leave them alone.

You walked back over, afraid that if you logged out of anything, they’d lose their progress. Twelve pages of lost work would suck, even if it was the other person’s fault for not saving anything properly. So, you did what you would want someone else to do for you. You saved the document under “unsaved_essay” and closed it down. You then went to open up the email address it was already opened on. tsholland1996@gmail.com, the email read. You didn’t look further, only starting a new email and attaching the file you saved their essay under, emailing it to the email listed, like as if they were emailing themselves, so they’d have a saved version.

After drafting out the email and anxiously reading it over four or five times, you finally pressed send, logging off of their email account and exiting off the browser. You opened up the Chrome tab again, going to log out of their Pandora account to log into yours and caught a glimpse of a couple of playlists they had made.

Whoever this was, had really great taste in music.

The phone call was so quick. Tom couldn’t get a word in edge wise before your mother hung up on him. It was a quick hello and then she went into the rather large detail that you had moved back home and were coming over for a “dinner” (which she informed him was actually a surprise party), and that he was invited, but had the task of picking you up and bringing you to the house.

Tom was fucking mortified.

He was sure, now, that you two never really made it obvious you two weren’t speaking. You both had mentioned each other in passing, but never directly told anyone how far apart you two had drifted. At this point you two were on opposite sides of the universe – or, more so, that’s how it felt. So, it made sense that your mother, who loved Tom very much, would suggest him coming to your surprise Welcome Home party. It would also make sense for her to have him, your best friend, pick you up. Your best friend joining you for dinner with your family to welcome you home shouldn’t raise any red flags; unless, of course, said best friend and you aren’t friends anymore. Which was the case here, but she’d totally missed the memo.

Before Tom could offer an apology for him not being able to do it, or even an excuse as to why he couldn’t, she’d hung up rather quickly. He felt so guilty that she’d even thought to invite him that he’d picked up his car keys and texted her, asking for your address. He stopped along the way to pick up some daisies, your mother’s favorite. At the very least, he’d pick you up and drop you off, then have you give these to your mother as a silent apology that he couldn’t stay. That’s reasonable, right?

It wasn’t until now, standing in front of your apartment door, at the very moment his fist hit your door, did he realize how fucking ridiculous this was. He started to panic – he should turn around, right? You haven’t seen each other in six years. The last time you two spoke, he stood you and your sister up on the offer to come to her birthday party (although, he was sure you only asked because your mother probably invited him).

Fuck, fuck fuck.

He was just about to decide to drop the flowers and head down the emergency stairs when the door opened, revealing a face h hadn’t realized he missed all that much until now. Your mouth hung open as soon as you registered who was at your door, and the door went from being opened wide, to it being only slightly ajar – which he felt was fair. You were probably wondering what the fuck he was doing at your apartment with a bouquet of flowers, because honestly he was wondering the same thing.

inclusion initiative

hello!

i used to have a blog (hufflepuffholland), where i had some of my best experiences coming up with ways to make fandoms (i was primarily a marvel blog, so i mostly did marvel-centered events) more inclusive!

i, along with some very helpful friends who volunteered to help me spread awareness and monitor these events always received positive feedback and a lot of participation. it’s always nice when you feel represented in a fandom. it’s easy to cater to a very specific audience (i.e. straight, white women), but it’s nice and fun to visualize yourself as part of everything included in your fandom!

as my time with hufflepuffholland we created the #PoCofMarvel movement where we spent a week catering toward the People of Color in the fandom. We made moodboards/shipboards with their favorite characters, showed appreciation for the characters of color, wrote fic that focused on a PoC!Reader and shared selfies of all the different races/ethnicities that were in the fandom. 

i created #beautifulbothways (cc: @purelyparker) to spread self-love whether you’re all dressed up or chilling at home with nowhere to go. just a movement to encourage others to see the beauty in themselves no matter what skin they’re in. 

with this new blog, i hope to continue this, and i hope we get the same participating/reaction we got the first time around! i’d like to spend a week for each fandom i’m in to create this sort of inclusive environment, too!

i have a few things lined up, that i’d like to try:

LGBTQ+ Rep week – this essentially would be the same thing as PoC(of Marvel) week we did, except for the LGBTQ+ community to be represented

another PoC Rep week

Character (if applicable, i.e.: Marvel Fandom) appreciation week – this is when we celebret our favorites characters, underrated, overrated, appropriately rated – whatever your heart desires!

the fandoms i consider myself apart of, and i hope to introduce these ideas to:

marvel + tom holland

stranger things

shawn mendes

this is all i have for now. if you have any idea’s, i encourage you to do something similar! it’d be nice to have fandoms go back to what they were, and that’s appreciating the fact that we are all accepted as a group amongst each other where we’d be cast as ridiculous elsewhere. i want to make this as inclusive as possible. :-)
