I strongly believe that Neil will keep randomly appearing in Jean's life, just to check in on him every few months or so.

Like, even years after their graduation, at some point Neil shows up in the middle of Jean and Jeremy's date, and they'll be like: ??

Oh, and vice versa.

jeremy knox and matt boyd become bffs when they play in the pros together. they know every dog’s name at the park. they trade plates halfway through meals. loudest laughers in any room. get those two in front of a pinball machine and you won’t see them for hours. they frequently leave the other's favorite snack in their locker. weekly volunteering at the local animal shelter together. they go on friend dates to the zoo. both love a good disco ball moment on the dance floor. they regularly get late night pancakes and leave a huge tip. they run around the dog park playing frisbee whilst their dogs sit in the shade. and do not get me started on their elaborate handshake!

look I'm as insane abt abbot's staring problem as the next guy but we need to give robby some recognition too. . .not with everyone but when collins is in front of him he fucking stares like he's scared to blink in case she disappears

Andrew Minyard talks like that because hes supposed to be a noir detective, but life made him a jock who hates learning about other people and no fixed address with which to develop a codependent relationship.

Neil Josten talks like that because he was supposed to be the femme fatale, except he's too asexual to intentionally seduce anyone and too obsessive and paranoid to notice when somebody falls for him anyway.

while we're on the subject i think we need to talk about jack abbot's quiet panic when robby is on the roof. bc robby being in his spot is Not Normal and he's trying not to freak out. and yeah he does a great job keeping that shit under wraps bc he's literally trained to stay calm under pressure. but the alarmed look in his eye. the desperate way he jumps from comedic to heartfelt to argumentative, trying to find something, ANYTHING, that he can say to get robby to step away from that ledge. the way he leans against the railing, makes himself small. creates an intimate space that invites robby to open up to him, then demands unwavering eye contact while delivering affirmations. robby talking jack down is a given, almost routine. jack talking robby down is unthinkable, and he is terrified.
