Biology/Genetics of Crossbreeding

A lot of people have questions on "how the hell these very different pokemon species breed", and there's a simple answer to that: egg groups. Pokemon are in egg groups and if they're in the same egg group, they can breed.

But, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about how specific traits are passed down.

No matter what, the mother's fenes are going to be stronger than the father's, which is why the pokemon is always the same species as the mother. But, the father still passes on some genes to the child, which is how a Striped cyndaquil gets the stripes of Furret or how a Veiled Angler lanturn gets the markings of Seaking.

But, how is it that these traits get chosen? How come a Sprinkled Alcreamie gets the spots of Togekiss, but not the wings?

That is because the father's genes can only add onto existing traits instead of adding whole new ones.

The Alcreamie doesn't gain wings because it's species doesn't have the genes for wings, so, the wings dotn get added. But, instead, the wings become split fingers, since that's the closest thing the genes can do. It also turns them white because Alcreamie have the genes to be white. Same with the markings.

Of course, if a pokemon breeds with pokemon of the same species of their father, over time (like, a very long time of darwinian evolution), there will be a new species. It's how pokemon can be multiple geniuses at the same time.

I've been working on a lot of silly doodles and alternate universe stuff lately, having a lot of fun with my silly twos.

I haven't gotten too much work done comic wise, but I'll get there eventually. Once my other hyperfixations die down a little, I should be able to get back to it hopefully lol

Oh my! I fear that is a common occurrence here. Cinnabar Island has many Ditto, and they tend to live nearby to this location.
