TED talk/rant under the cut
tl;dr locking the butterfly outfit behind Master doesn't make any sense and is discouraging
I'm still moderately salty about the butterfly body being locked behind Master Rank. Like sure maybe they wanted incentive for people to reach Master, or they wanted it to be a 10* pattern, or whatever. But Master is a *heck of a grind* and even with my current hack of spending about 45 min a day getting 70k followers it'll still take me 8 or 9 days to get to a million. Diamond might have been more reasonable.
Imagine if an MMO ran a seasonal event quest, requiring only Lv 15 and some very easy prerequisites to participate, but the purely cosmetic gear that's rewarded requires Lv 90 to equip. Which means newbies would have to clear six expansions worth of content to even be able to use the gear as an outfit. That's right, they qualified for the quest but have to reach endgame to even be able to use their reward. This only accomplishes a few things, a) feeling excluded and disappointed, and b) they'll probably have forgotten about the gear or found something cooler by the time they get to 90, or c) they don't even get through the entire game, put it down, and move on.
And an MMO is at least stuffed to the gills with other content to do. FD doesn't have a whole lot going for it at the moment. Unless a player decides to commit to the most efficient but also most boring method of grinding up followers, they face quite the hurdle getting to Master through natural play.
I'm not trying to bash on FD but locking the main body of the butterfly outfit behind a fairly tedious grind is just baffling. Especially when the other pieces aren't even that high rarity either. Just let the butterfly outfit have the unique distinction of being a popular lower rarity item, there's nothing wrong with that.

THANK YOU and I wish I had seen this before blundering my way through these haha
Just wanted to add that for "follow all players who made items for an outfit" this can be done by looking at the outfit of any player or showroom mannequin, click Zr and then the option to view the profile and follow them. It also works for NPCs in online mode who are wearing player-made outfits.
helping YOU with the fair bc i finished it
some of the quests are a lil hard to understand
send a like in someone's showroom: this is liking an item
send a stamp to each item within an outfit: press zr to send a stamp to an outfit (it should work with lookit mail if you need something quick)
send a stamp to an item displayed in someone's showroom fun fact: it doesnt seem to trigger if youre in the same showroom....unlike liking an item in a showroom? shrugs just move to the next showroom
follow all players who made items for an outfit: follow person who made you a lookit (lookit mail)

Maybe an odd question but if you have multiple muses, how do you get the game to "recognize" the current muse you're playing? I've been on a second muse for a bit and switched back to my main muse since yesterday but I'm still getting stuff for my second muse. Do you just keep playing on the preferred muse until the server realizes it?

is your username a reference to shibuya scramble?
Yes and no! I first discovered Alphard through the Canaan anime but I had no idea she was also in Shibuya Scramble! I'd been curious about the game since I first heard of it and might just have to get it now haha.

Please for the love of all that is fashion. Let us sort by colours and styles. I'm tired of wondering "is this actually beige or yellow?" "what on earth is a relaxed-looking outfit" "does elegant mean feminine/chic or gothic/babydoll?"
I'm enjoying the game but dang I need this QoL

Being an offline cheapo and "farming" clothes by going to the pop-up area to grab all the stuff, then going to the Showroom Stream to raid all the displays, save, close down the game completely, relaunch, repeat.
I'll go online as soon as I buy a sub

Maybe hot take but I'm gonna say it. This could be good if implemented correctly, or really bad.
The moment you introduce a reliance on likes, popularity, and ranking, it immediately becomes a reflection of real life social media where people start to focus on what they can do to get more likes/popularity instead of actually enjoying making their own designs for design's sake. Everyone wants to win and everyone wants to be on top. If a high popularity means your designs are more likely to show up all the time, it means the same popular people are going to stay popular forever.
They would have to release more details first about how this whole system would work, but hopefully they randomly pull the designs you see from the whole playerbase so that everyone gets a fair chance to have their stuff seen and liked by others.
News about the gameplay:
People's creations will be displayed to everyone! Since the game relies on influencer culture, it uses other people’s likes, there is going to be a rank, the more the likes, the higher the ranks!

The moment I saw the trailer I thought "huh, those character models look somewhat familiar" and suspected it might be related to Style Savvy. Then I saw comments that it was developed by Syn Sophia, so as others have mentioned already this looks to be the "next game" that we were all waiting for.
Having watched the trailer a couple times, I think there is too little information/clarity about gameplay features right now. I'll be waiting for them to release more details, there's just not a whole lot for me to form an opinion on from a one-minute trailer.
Some things I like based on what was shown:
-Updated graphics. Character models, environment, and I love that pastel aesthetic. The clothes look way better and have more individuality (if that makes sense--in Style Savvy games you could see when clothes used the same model types, here it's not quite as obvious). Being able to customize with your own colours is a big plus!
-More control over the camera for photoshoots. We had limited angles/zoom in the previous games so having more freedom of movement is a godsend. Also seems like we can play pose motions (hopefully we can pause them too) for that perfect shot.
-Being able to play as a male character!
Some other things I noticed: the option to tuck your top and these mysterious Bingo tickets.
I WILL, however, be sad if there isn't a shop of some kind that we can run. The shop has been a core part of the Style Savvy games and I always enjoyed collecting the furniture items, decorating, and coming up with fun layouts. I'm hoping that the ability to run around outside is something we can do when we don't want to be cooped up in the shop all the time buuut if we're going shop-less than that's just how it's going to be I guess.
Also, collecting clothes just by liking someone's outfit is a bit eh, mostly because it would take no effort (well, tbf I guess you'd have to FIND that person first). I would miss going to the exhibition hall daily and checking for things I hadn't bought yet. Again, there's too much we still don't know about the game so maybe it's just an additional method for you to get special/different clothes.
About the possibility of needing a Nintendo Online sub--I assume it would only be required for features that would let you "interact" with other players, much like visiting others' boutiques or taking photos with them. I pay a couple sub fees for other online services right now and would be reluctant to add yet another sub only for one game, so that would be a big bummer for me since I wouldn't be able to interact with the community. I dunno, we'll see.
With a vague "sometime in 2023" release date there's definitely a lot we don't know yet, I'll be on the lookout for more info over the coming months, but these are my thoughts so far!

Some thoughts on the Fashion Dreamer reveal in the Feb 8th Nintendo Direct…
As a longtime Girls Mode/Style Savvy series fan, my first thought was, “Ahh, this seems really cute??” Not that it’d be a successor to the beloved fashion game franchise, but still! In lieu of a Switch-based GM/SS game, I wanna keep my mind open.
And, watching the trailer, the graphics deffo give me that vibe. The soft charrie designs, the pastel graphics… The endless fashion choices! 🥰 It seems as though it might have potential.
But two things kinda deter me? One, and that’s the odd demonstration of gameplay, in how the narrator states you’re just walking around to help out influencers…like…okay. Are these all other players? Are they players and NPCs? Do we get any back stories or?? And two, the mention of connecting online, because so far Nintendo has almost 100% tied up online play for Switch games behind the NSO paywall, which is just…nah for me, personally. 😔
So, in sum, I hope that we get a better understanding of the gameplay soon. But I also hope, more so, that if we get another GM/SS game, it holds true to everything we fans have loved previously while looking gorgeous and having fun stories to play out.
TL;DR: I rly miss Style Savvy, folks.
tagging last-known GM/SS bloggers @boutique-ribbon @alphards-asterism @razzberriezz but anyone is welcome to comment on this post with thoughts about the new game and/or thoughts about the future of GM/SS!

Decided to check Tumblr after seeing the announcement in my news feed XD
I'm not sure how I feel about the bottom part of the city they showed fading into a white void but eh, I'll wait to see more about the game before judging. I will still day-one this because I am STILL playing Styling Star and just want something new already lol.
