Alt Ctrl Evaluation
I feel like I got to improve my artwork and coding skills a lot from this project, I got to try a lot of new artwork techniques and make new mechanics that I’ve never got to do before, I did try to make a scoreboard but I ran into to many problems, that just made it feel like I was staying in one place which wasn’t very fun. I did enjoy attempting the scoreboard though and I’ll try and come back to it in another project. I researched undertales and it inspired my game to the point it is. Undertales changed the colours and art style. I would have probably done something completely different.
I think I managed to keep all my ideas in bounds of my project proposal. I did have to change my controller to a keyboard and mouse because I couldn’t get a hold of any of the components. The controls for my game you move with the scroll wheel and change the direction with a button press and shoot with another button. It does still fit idea.
My project meets almost everything but I wasn’t able to make the controller for my game, I would have liked it but my game hits everything else and it works. If I did have the controller it wouldn’t have been that accessible to other people because the player wouldn’t be able to play it the intended way without the controller.
I learnt a lot of new art techniques and nodes in this project, I learnt how to use photoshop better, how to animate fire and how to shade from different angles. I learnt more nodes and how to use them.

Parappa of the Rapper research

Parappa of the Rapper is a rhythm action game, where you have rap by pressing the corresponding buttons when they come on screen to the rhythm.  Parappa of the Rapper was the 1st game on the Playstation that was an action rhythm game and the only 1. The gameplay reminds me of quick time events, which I don't really like because you’re just clicking a button that the game tells you to and its not really challenging.

I also feel like the art work for  Parappa of the Rapper is a bit janky and looks like it was done in MS Paint. I do like the design for the characters they look cute and work well.

Parappa of the Rappa sort of reminds me of Friday Night Funkin’. The simple art style and both the characters getting into rap battles. the gameplay is slightly different they both are action rhythm games but Friday Night Funkin’ gameplay is much more fast paste and instead of the inputs going right to left at the top of the screen like Parappa of the Rappa, Friday Night Funkin’ has the inputs going from the bottom of the screen to the top.

More Feedback
here is more feedback for my game. when people play my game I do have to tell them the controls for my game because they are so obscure, I would need to add the controls somewhere on like in the description of my game or something.
I don’t really know about changing the speed or a background, the speed feels alright but it might be a good Idea to change it. I don’t want to add a background because I like it just being black and nothing distracting the player.
it looks like I don't need to remove anything which is good and I'm glad that I don’t.
my game doesn’t seem to be to hard which is good, I believe its because they are just getting used to the controls.

Player can go past the box
When I was getting feedback for my game the play tester found 2 bugs 1 that I don’t have time for and this bug which I do.
The player can go past the white line in my game and continually move in any direction without the bullets being able to hit them as long the keep on moving. This is a game breaking bug that I managed to fix.
I 1st tried to make a wall that would block the player from moving past it. It sadly didn’t work because the player teleports ever so slightly. I asked for some help and my teacher suggested I check if the player is beyond a certain point the player would get teleported back in the play area.

Feed Back
I got some feedback for my game it wasn’t very constructive but they found a bug for my game. I decided to start working on the bug after i got their responses.

They weren’t a very constructive but they found 2 bugs. I wont be fixing 1 of them because I only have enough time for 1 bug and I don't want to have to deal with the bug to much because it to do with my clock and with the seconds.
the bug that I wont be dealing with is when ever the seconds gets to 60 it doesn’t reset. The other bug ill do a dedicated blogpost about.
I’ll get some more feedback later.

Alt Controller
I couldn’t make my alt-controller I didn’t put anytime into it and I should have but if I did have the controller, no one would really be able to play my game the way it was made to be played unless they had the controller. Its more accessible because everyone who owns a pc have a keyboard and mouse. I don’t really know if people with disabilities would be ably to play my game, I’m mostly thinking about the mouse here because with a button you can make it bigger but with a scroll wheel its not really that easy because there aren’t any companies that do bigger scroll wheels (to my knowledge) unless you do a special order.

there are mice that can be used by disabled people, like the trackball mouse, which remains stationary with a ball that you roll about with to move the cursor. I don’t really know how this would interact with my game because it sort of makes it easier i feel (I haven’t tested it nor made it work):

This is some gamplay of my final game. My scoreboard still doesn’t work, it only shows the top score. since the player uses a scroll wheel its very hard to move and dodge the bullets, it feels like it would be possible to get really good at it and survive for a really long time.
You have to weave and dodge through the bullets with the scollwheel and X to switch the direction, while clearing the bullets with C to shoot. I got the idea while I was researching alternative controllers, I found a game called Kaleida.
Kaleida is a game where you have a controller that has 3 inputs, 2 of them rotates the player left and right the centre 1 shoots a beam out to destroy the enemies that are coming towards the player.
I liked the idea of it a lot and I wanted to try and make something similar, I couldn’t come up anything until I looked into Undertale and I really liked the combat gameplay, I decided to make a game around that. only the enemies turn though because that looked more interesting.

Scoreboard?
I might not be able to make my scoreboard because I have never done it before and I'm using some nodes that I have never used before and my teacher got sick so I can’t ask them to help. this is my final day on my project so I don’t it’s possible for me to complete the scoreboard.
I did learn from attempting this and I’m happy that I attempted it. I’ll come back to it on another project because I really want to make this scoreboard.

Here’s my new version’s for the enemy bullets. The previous 1 didn’t feel right so I changed it so it would have a blur instead. I did try the red 1 but it didn’t really fit so I decided to change the bone colour to white and thought the player would have trouble seeing it so i added fire to it.

this is a quick round system that I made for my game I’m not going to display what round it is because I like the idea that the player wont know when it gets harder. I haven’t tested it properly so I don't know if it gets to hard to fast it mostly likely does.
I did make it really simple but I think it could be a lot better if I put some more time into it.

This is my start screen it took me a while to make this but I'm really proud of it and I'm glad it came out this well.
I like the idea of having the text on the gravestone, gravestones normally have text about the person who died on it about them, how they died and when they died. I decided to have a bit of fun with it, I also needed something to make the gravestone less empty, so I added quotes from Gabriel from Ultrakill.

I had a bit of trouble with the lighting and the hands for the skeleton. I didn’t really know how I wanted to do the lighting because I wanted to try make where there would be a lighting change do a checker shading but I didn’t have time to do figure it out because I just wanted to get it done. I don’t know if it would have looked better or worse but I’m happy with how it turned out. The hands where weird for me because it was the 1st time I had to do a pose that the skeleton was doing and my 1st time doing skeleton hands.
it sort of reminds me of Devil Daggers, how there’s a skeleton shredded in darkness and the only source of light is a fire.

Vampire Survivors research

Vampire Survivors is a game where you have to survive for 30 minutes, you can level up by killing enemies and when you level you can get different spells and abilities.

20 Minutes Till Dawn is like Vampire Survivor but 20 Minutes Till Dawn allows you to aim your gun and some abilities unlike Vampire Survivor which you cant aim your abilities. I would prefer to be ably to control my shots than have all of them shot at random enemies. In both games you can unlock characters in 20 MTD you can only purchase things to get them unless they can be unlocked by completing a quest if you do have to do a quest you can only get that character through that quest, unlike 20 MTD you can unlock them and purchase the characters. you start off with a gun and can unlock more in 20 MTD, in Vampire Survivor you only have the abilities you unlock in the game.

20 Minutes Till Dawn is a game where you have to survive for 20 minutes and you can level up by killing enemies and get abilities in a top down 2D environment.

I like the art style for this game, I like the simplicity of it and the monotone colour palette with the only colour being red, the only colour being red makes things pop so well. I like the really dark colours and then the pop of red it makes everything simply and not all in your face.

Scoreboard with different code and still doesn’t work
I decided to go from a different angle with my code and it still doesn’t work. I decided to use a Map and an Array to store the scores. the Map is used to put all the score in the right order and the Array is used to store the scores. 
every time I change the code a new problem appears and it makes it hard to find a solution for it but I do get closer everytime.
my 1st version of the code worked but it didn’t add any of the other scores, I fixed that by adding a way to add the rest of scores, it worked but if you got a score in between scores it wouldn’t add that score or if you got a score high score then it wouldn’t move the scores down by 1.

My teacher went over the code and came up with a better way to add to the highscore. It works by having another map the works everything out and the working out map will store the same scoreboard but if you get a high score the working out map would move everything in the scoreboard down by 1 and then add the new highscore to the scoreboard. we both saw a problem with this code that it would add a score that wasn’t higher than the highscore. there is a problem that we didn’t see would happen it adds the highscore to 3rd place aswell which is weird. I saw a small problem with using a map for this and it was that it only allowed to things in specific places, I seeing if an array works it does but I will be changing it out for a map in a bit.

Scoreboard still wont work
the scoreboard will update now but not correctly because the scoreboard will keep the previous high score and duplicating it and putting it in the second place. I haven’t done 3rd place yet. the code isn’t done but I’m going to try something different by using a Map container type.

Start Screen Research
I want to make a start screen for my game I need it to be able to be used with only 1 button and if I have other tabs then I need it to be able to be controlled with a nob/scroll wheel. 
I want it to make a start screen like 20 Minutes Till Dawn’s, with a monster behind the text and the title of the game.

I don’t like the look of The Witcher 3′s Title Screen. It’s not centered it feels unbalanced but it does work for the game.

I want a gravestone with start and  other options on it, then a skeleton emerging from the dark like the Dark Souls 3 boss High Lord Wolnir.
