Pantone’s surprise of 2025: Mocha Mousse
Tumblr media
The Pantone Color Institute is known for its trendsetting announcements, unveiling a “Color of the Year” that resonates across industries such as fashion, design, and technology. In a surprising twist for 2025, Pantone announced Mocha Mousse, a warm, earthy, and rich brown, as the Color of the Year, overturning expectations for the previously speculated Future Dusk, a futuristic, dusky purple hue. This shift has sent ripples through the fashion world, compelling designers and brands to reevaluate their collections and inspiring a reimagining of 2025's aesthetic landscape.
Why Mocha Mousse?
Pantone’s decision reflects a yearning for comfort, grounding, and connection to the natural world. The earthy brown embodies warmth and stability, evoking feelings of home, tradition, and simplicity in an increasingly digital, fast-paced world. This contrasts with Future Dusk, which symbolized forward-thinking technology and the promise of innovation — themes that were already dominant in 2023 and 2024. In their statement, Pantone emphasized that Mocha Mousse connects people to the “tangible,” offering a comforting antidote to the overstimulation of our screen-saturated lives. It celebrates timelessness while being versatile, fitting seamlessly into contemporary design and fashion.
Impact on the fashion world
1. Recalibration of Trends Mocha Mousse has forced the fashion world to pivot from designs rooted in futuristic minimalism and synthetic aesthetics. While designers were gearing up for collections that paired sleek silvers, purples, and high-tech fabrics with Future Dusk, they are now embracing more organic textures and neutral palettes to reflect Mocha Mousse’s influence. Expect to see linen, wool, and leather in warm, chocolate tones dominating the 2025 runways. 2. Revival of Earth tones Mocha Mousse is set to herald a revival of earth tones in fashion. Think burnt sienna, camel, and shades of coffee complementing the warm brown. This earthy palette will define capsule collections and encourage consumers to embrace timeless, classic pieces over seasonal, trend-focused items. Brands may also incorporate Mocha Mousse into key accessories such as handbags, shoes, and belts. 3. Sustainability spotlight The choice of an earthy tone like Mocha Mousse aligns with the fashion industry’s push towards sustainability. By evoking nature, this color symbolizes the growing movement toward ethical consumption and eco-friendly practices. Many brands may use the opportunity to highlight their sustainable materials, such as plant-based dyes or recycled fabrics, showcasing their connection to the color’s grounding philosophy. 4. Streetwear meets neutral luxury Streetwear, which has traditionally leaned into bold, statement colors, will likely adapt to this trend by integrating Mocha Mousse into tonal layering — think oversized hoodies, tailored joggers, and sneakers in warm browns. Luxury brands, on the other hand, are already experimenting with monochromatic outfits and tailored pieces in shades that evoke timeless elegance. Mocha Mousse effortlessly bridges these two worlds, making it a powerful tool for designers catering to both casual and upscale markets. 5. Gender-neutral aesthetics Mocha Mousse’s understated warmth makes it a perfect candidate for gender-neutral designs. Unlike the divisive tones of past years, this brown is subtle and universally flattering, opening doors for more inclusive fashion choices. Expect to see unisex coats, suits, and knitwear dominating collections.
Consumer response and emotional impact
Brown tones like Mocha Mousse often carry an emotional resonance, invoking memories of nature, warmth, and groundedness. Consumers seeking a reprieve from the over-digitization of life may gravitate towards clothing that incorporates this color. Psychologically, Mocha Mousse invites feelings of stability and security, which aligns with the current global desire for emotional well-being. This color also aligns with the “quiet luxury” movement — the idea of investing in understated, high-quality pieces that signal sophistication without being flashy. In this context, Mocha Mousse is poised to become the embodiment of subtle opulence.
Challenges of the transition
While Mocha Mousse has been welcomed for its versatility and timeless appeal, the abrupt change from Future Dusk could leave some designers scrambling to align their pre-planned collections with this new direction. Purples and tech-inspired hues like Future Dusk catered to avant-garde and futuristic tastes, and this audience may initially struggle to embrace the more grounded appeal of brown. Moreover, not all consumers have traditionally embraced brown tones in fashion. For some, earthy hues may seem too muted compared to the vibrant energy of previous years' choices, like Viva Magenta (2023) or Classic Blue (2020). Designers will need to innovate to keep Mocha Mousse feeling fresh and exciting, pairing it with unexpected pops of color like soft pinks, mustard yellows, or icy blues.
Long-term impact
Pantone’s decision to crown Mocha Mousse as the Color of 2025 signals a larger cultural shift. We are moving away from the fascination with high-tech aesthetics toward a deeper appreciation for timeless values, authenticity, and the natural world. Fashion is likely to embrace this philosophy wholeheartedly, moving toward slower, more sustainable practices and seasonless designs that prioritize durability and versatility over fleeting trends. The ripple effects will extend beyond fashion into interior design, branding, and even technology — imagine smartphones and home gadgets in earthy finishes instead of glossy purples or metallic tones. As consumers continue to crave simplicity and grounding, Mocha Mousse might just become the defining shade of an era. Pantone’s surprise announcement of Mocha Mousse over Future Dusk for 2025 is not just a color shift; it’s a statement about where we’re headed as a society. Its impact on fashion is already being felt, with designers embracing warmer, grounded tones and focusing on long-lasting, sustainable designs. Whether in cozy knitwear, tailored coats, or luxurious accessories, Mocha Mousse is ready to infuse the year with stability, warmth, and understated elegance — a perfect reflection of the times. Feng shui colors in fashion
Feng Shui isn’t just about home decor; it can be a powerful tool in personal style, using colors to influence your energy and communicate specific vibes. By aligning clothing colors with Feng Shui principles, you can create an intentional wardrobe that supports various aspects of your life.
1. Wood element colors: green and brown
In Feng Shui, the Wood element represents growth, vitality, and renewal, with green and brown being its primary colors. These colors are inspired by nature, evoking feelings of health, stability, and grounding. - Green symbolizes life, growth, and healing. Wearing green is said to bring balance and rejuvenation, aligning you with a natural, calming energy. This color is excellent for fostering connections and promoting a sense of harmony and renewal in your life. Different shades of green can bring various effects: lighter greens like mint or sage have a fresh and gentle feel, while deeper greens like emerald or forest convey stability and wisdom. In fashion, green is an ideal choice for events where you want to appear approachable and in tune with your surroundings, such as casual gatherings, networking events, or family gatherings. It’s also a fantastic color for when you’re embarking on new ventures, as it symbolizes personal and professional growth. - Brown represents groundedness and reliability, embodying the steady energy of the earth itself. Wearing brown shades, like caramel, mocha, or chocolate, conveys a sense of trustworthiness and stability. This color is perfect for situations where you need to establish trust, such as in business meetings, team projects, or interactions that require warmth and dependability. Pairing brown with other Earth-tone colors, like beige or sand, can amplify this effect, providing a nurturing, supportive vibe. Brown is also a grounding color, helpful for those who tend to feel scattered or overwhelmed, as it brings a calm and centered energy.
2. Fire element colors: red, orange, pink, and strong yellow
The Fire element is associated with passion, energy, and recognition, making its colors bold, warm, and eye-catching. Fire colors are ideal when you want to make a strong impression, boost your confidence, or add a dynamic flair to your look. - Red is perhaps the most powerful Fire color. It embodies passion, courage, and excitement. Red is a color that naturally draws attention, so wearing it can boost your confidence and help you stand out. This makes red perfect for events where you want to command attention, such as public speaking engagements, celebrations, or important meetings. Red is also linked to love and romance, so it’s often chosen for date nights or events where you want to feel particularly attractive and magnetic. - Orange brings warmth, creativity, and enthusiasm. It’s less intense than red but still vibrant and full of life. Wearing orange can enhance your mood, inspire creativity, and encourage a positive outlook. It’s an excellent color for social gatherings, creative meetings, or any event where you want to foster connection and fun. Coral, peach, and burnt orange are versatile shades that bring liveliness while remaining accessible. - Pink represents love, compassion, and gentleness. It’s a softer, more nurturing Fire color, bringing a sense of warmth without overwhelming. Light pinks symbolize care and empathy, making them perfect for settings where you want to appear approachable and kind, such as family gatherings or support groups. Hot pink, on the other hand, can bring a playful and lively energy, suitable for social events or any situation where you want to uplift spirits.
Tumblr media
- Strong Yellow symbolizes happiness, optimism, and mental clarity. It’s known for energizing and stimulating the mind, making it great for situations where you need focus and creativity. Yellow is a great color for brainstorming sessions, group activities, and outdoor events. It encourages a positive atmosphere and is particularly beneficial in settings where you want to inspire or be inspired.
3. Earth element colors: light yellow, beige, and sand
Earth element colors provide a sense of stability, grounding, and calm. These are neutral tones that create a comforting and approachable presence, suitable for any setting where you want to feel or appear steady and supportive. - Beige and Sand tones are soft, grounding, and nurturing. Wearing these colors can promote a sense of ease and naturalness, making them perfect for work environments where approachability is key, like customer service or collaborative projects. These colors are also excellent for personal interactions where you want to come across as down-to-earth and reliable.
Tumblr media
- Light Yellow is a soft and sunny shade that, while related to the Fire element in its vibrant forms, serves as a more grounding tone in its pastel hues. This shade encourages a calm joy, promoting a gentle warmth without being too energizing. Light yellow works well for casual, relaxed settings where warmth and friendliness are desired. Earth tones are particularly effective in outfits that require a calm, professional vibe without appearing too formal. They’re ideal for environments where stability, trust, and patience are valued.
4. Metal element colors: white, gray, and metallics
The Metal element is associated with clarity, precision, and purity. Metal colors bring a clean, sharp energy, enhancing focus, discipline, and elegance. - White symbolizes purity, simplicity, and clarity. In Feng Shui, wearing white is believed to clear the mind and focus intentions. White is a popular choice for formal occasions, interviews, and situations that require clarity and openness. It’s also seen as a “new beginning” color, so it’s ideal for fresh starts, like the first day of a new job.
Tumblr media
- Gray represents neutrality, balance, and sophistication. Gray is highly adaptable and often used as a base color that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. It’s ideal for settings where you want to project a calm, composed image, such as professional environments, meetings, and negotiations. Gray is a color of maturity and can also bring a sense of authority without the intensity of black.
Tumblr media
- Metallics like silver and gold add a touch of luxury and refinement. Gold exudes warmth and confidence, while silver brings a cooler, more restrained elegance. These colors are perfect for formal events, celebrations, and any setting where you want to add a polished, sophisticated element to your appearance. Silver and gold can also enhance accessories, adding just a hint of glamor without overpowering.
Tumblr media
5. Water element colors: blue and black
The Water element is connected to emotions, introspection, and wisdom. Water colors evoke depth, calm, and contemplation, making them ideal for relaxation and introspection. - Blue symbolizes peace, trust, and tranquility. Lighter blues, like sky or baby blue, promote relaxation and calm, making them ideal for unwinding or reflective settings. Darker blues, like navy, evoke wisdom, confidence, and reliability. Navy is a powerful choice for professional attire, as it conveys a strong, trustworthy presence. Blue is also associated with abundance, making it a good color choice when you want to attract positive financial energy.
Tumblr media
- Black represents strength, protection, and sophistication. While black is often seen as a neutral, it also has a grounding quality, bringing depth and a sense of mystery. Black is a great choice for formal occasions, where elegance and authority are essential. It’s also popular in creative or reflective settings, as it allows for introspection and deep thinking.
Tumblr media
Incorporating Feng Shui colors into your fashion choices allows you to bring intention into what you wear, influencing your energy and supporting your goals. Whether you’re aiming to boost confidence, foster calm, or bring warmth, the colors you choose can play a subtle yet powerful role in aligning with your desired energy. Read the full article

Mexican fashion - trends not to miss
Mexican fashion is distinguished by its vibrant patterns, dynamic prints, and textiles in striking colors. These elements are omnipresent in both traditional Mexican clothing and culture. In particular, Mexican women's fashion is rich in playful designs and bright colors, reflecting the essence of this culture. For years, traditional clothing styles worn by Mexican women have experienced a resurgence in popularity, influencing summer fashion trends annually. Off-the-shoulder tops and ruffled dresses inspired by Mexican fashion are no longer reserved for a simple Mexican fiesta. They have seamlessly integrated into our everyday wardrobe, offering original, inspired pieces. Moreover, many Mexican designers draw from their cultural heritage to create energetic and unique collections.
What are the different types of Mexican clothing?
Traditional Mexican clothing is a tribute to color, craftsmanship, and history. Numerous iconic Mexican outfits, with their variety of colors and patterns, make up what we know today as Mexican fashion.
The Tehuana Costume
The women of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in southern Mexico, are world-renowned for their colorful traditional costumes, made particularly popular by the iconic Frida Kahlo, who made these outfits her signature. These garments, with their floral patterns and bright colors, have often been featured in the media. The Tehuanas, who wear these costumes, remain proud of their cultural identity and fashion heritage.
Tumblr media
The Rebozo
The rebozo is a multifunctional garment, often made of cotton, wool, or silk, primarily used to cover the head or body. This essential accessory in Mexican fashion serves both practical purposes and adds elegance to any outfit.
Tumblr media
The Huipil
The huipil is a sleeveless tunic, highly popular in Mexico. This traditional garment helps identify the wearer’s geographical origins through specific patterns, a practice common in many cultures worldwide. The huipil is both a homage to craftsmanship and a symbol of cultural belonging.
Tumblr media
Aztec Clothing
Traditional Aztec clothing was often loose and colorful, marked by a rich palette due to the vast trade network of the time. These garments continue to influence Mexican fashion today, especially through intricate designs and textiles that celebrate the heritage of pre-Columbian civilizations.
Tumblr media
The Influence of Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo is undoubtedly one of the greatest ambassadors of Mexican fashion. Her unmistakable style, combining pearl-adorned earrings, elaborate necklaces, and floral headpieces, embodies the playful, maximalist spirit of Mexican fashion. Her influence extends far beyond Mexico's borders and has inspired many international designers.
Tumblr media
Contemporary Mexican Designers
Mexican fashion isn't limited to its rich cultural heritage. It is also represented by a dynamic and flourishing contemporary scene, with designers who challenge norms and redefine the perception of Mexican fashion both locally and globally. Mexico City, in particular, has become a creative hub where tradition meets modernity. Kris Goyri Kris Goyri's style is characterized by bold silhouettes, vibrant colors, and clean lines, a perfect example of the balance between tradition and modernity in Mexican fashion. Pineda Covalin Dedicated to creating pieces that blend Mexican indigenous art with contemporary elements, **Pineda Covalin** is renowned for its motifs inspired by Mexican culture. Benito Santos Benito Santos' brand is known for its dramatic and elegant silhouettes. He has dressed prestigious personalities, including Valentina from season 9 of "RuPaul’s Drag Race." Alejandra Quesada Alejandra Quesada's pieces stand out for their combinations of solid colors and playful prints. She won the Fashion Forward award in 2013. Lydia Lavin Lydia Lavin is a passionate advocate for indigenous textiles and craftsmanship. She collaborates with ten artisan communities to create pieces that showcase Mexican heritage.

Read the full article

Bleu: la couleur d'année 2020
Tumblr media
