Do you think a person can become genuinely kind? I'm not naturally kind. It takes effort for me. I naturally prioritize my own comfort, and when I'm concerned for another person, I feel stressed. I feel stressed because I feel other people's emotions for them, like tasks to check off, like I can’t reach my internal equilibrium until my surroundings allow it. I often find myself reflecting someone's emotions back to them in a slightly more dramatic way, building on their experience as a way of validating their emotions, instead of holding them while they release the emotion. That just bypasses intimacy and causes dissociation. Learning energy work and body work has showed me the ways I try to process other people's urgencies through my body. I think this method of kindness stems from a Christian perspective of taking other people’s pain from them = kindness. I’m relearning kindness as a long glide toward neutrality
