I accidentally stumbled across (probably) the oldest pieces of stex fanart

Drawn by Dagmar Gosejacob in the late 80's, posted on the Facebook group "Starlight Express Germany Alumini" in 2010 :)

I think the starlight express scream in the starlight sequence should be as long as the actor wants and the orchestra just has to be prepared to just repeat the last couple of measures until Rusty’s actors finally drops out

Like a broken record coming from me, but I do genuinely think that the very clear generational gaps in CATS *should* stay clear, rather than attempting to skew more and more "older" characters towards the younger side either by casting them younger or redesigning them younger.
If for nothing else, those stark divides give a layer of generational trickle down effect in the treatment of Grizabella (and not just in the usual way of removing the commentary regarding how women - especially famous women in the public eye - are so quickly discarded and cast aside for younger models when they can no longer keep up with the beauty standard), starting in "Grizabella the Glamour Cat"; the younger kittens take influence from their older peers, who in turn took influence from *their* older peers, creating a chain of telephone disdain that may not even have a clear start point for those not in the direct know of whenever Grizabella's separation from the group began. The narrative of this cat has been passed from generation to generation, becoming colder, more detached, and changed based on selective memory. The kittens take note from the behaviour and commentary of their older peers, and change their behaviour to fall in line with what they are being told, over and over, until Griz is no longer an individual, but an entity. A lesson and cautionary tale passed down that could have *continued* to be passed down, were it not for a select few determined to break the cycle.
And by having visibly different generations or "groups", it creates a more definitive visual for this metaphorical pass down of information, and holds the audience to consider what they have perhaps been passing down, and what has been passed down to them.

ME: hold up. you see that? train's been through here FRIEND: how can you tell ME: tracks. they're not fresh, maybe 60, 80 years old FRIEND: no chance it'll come back, then ME: don't be so sure. That's well within their lifespan... and they're highly territorial

Wembley redesign, Freight || Kofi | Threadless | Redbubble | Instagram | DeviantArt ||
once again, I don't think the Wembley designs are bad per se but they don't exactly give Train. Any questions about certain changes, feel free to ask. I couldn't go over all of it here, because its just. A lot.
