The Alva Robotics Team has just finished up five weeks of the six week competition by hosting a bake sale and attending Practice Day at NWOSU on October 14, 2017. The bake sale was very successful, and the team would like to thank everyone who came by the Graceful Arts Center on First Friday to sample the delicious variety of treats prepared by the team and their families. They are nearing their goal of having enough money to buy the robot parts, t-shirts, and materials for building their booth for the competition. Some First Friday attendees got to witness the robot in action as the team took it out for a trial run. Last Saturday was Practice Day for the teams competing in the Heartland BEST competition in one week. Practice Day is an opportunity for teams to put their robot on the actual game field and test how it performs. This fulfills a vital step in the engineering process called test and redesign. After testing their robot, the Alva Robotics team made some on-the-field adjustments, got some great ideas from the other teams attending, and timed the robot’s performance of the tasks required. With just one week until Game Day the team is excited to complete work on the robot and prepare their presentations for the judges. They would like to thank everyone who has encouraged and sponsored them. Everyone is invited to come out and watch the robot compete at the Alva Rec Center on October 28, 2017 at 10:00 AM. (at Graceful Arts Center)
