Hey. How was Erwin's birthday? Did anything interesting happen?

"I actually had the day free to celebrate it, which was unusual," Erwin smiles at you. "I can't say we did anything too ostentatious but it was an enjoyable evening. Sometimes a simple dinner and time away from the office is just the refresher that you need." "There was a wonderful fall festival in Trost," Hange smiles. "Because Mr Stickler here decided to do some errands in the morning, we didn't go until evening-" "Which was better because it was quieter," Levi interrupts with a flat stare. "We could hear our own conversation." "It was quite peaceful, to be fair," Hange continued. "And admittedly the fall decorations looked wonderful at sunset. Trost was ablaze in orange and reds and..." they sigh happily. "It was gorgeous. And they had such interesting little stalls. Even Levi bought something." Levi gives a small shrug. "They had some interesting teas that weren't going to cost an arm and a leg," he murmurs. "Some aren't half bad either." Erwin smiles at his partners. "It was a very relaxing evening. It reminds me what it is we're fighting for."

First of all, I am so glad to see you back! I missed you dearly. And there is something I am curious to know: Hange, have you ever conducted any kind of an experiment on Erwin or Levi? If yes, would you be so kind as to tell me the details?

"Brownie points to anon for an interest in science!" Hange exclaims with a hearty thumbs up. They plant their hands on their hips and look thoughtful for a moment. "I have definitely run social experiments on the two of them. To answer things like who gets more jealous, who gts more tetchy without their caffeine in the mornings, you know? That sort of stuff." Hange pauses and frowns as they reflect on one particular experiment. "Depriving Levi of his tea for the morning was a dangerous and unforgiving experiment. Let's just say that I do not think that it was worth it after seeing the depths of his foul mood all day. Pretty sure the 104th were pissed at me for two days."

Did you miss us?

Hange waves enthusiastically at you all as they sit behind their desk, ignoring the mountain of paperwork sat in a tall an uneven pile, precariously sat at the edge of the desk. "Heyyyy! You can't keep good people down so we're back!"

Their head whips around, taking note of their noticably absent friends. "Well Levi and Erwin are back too in spirit. They're just being boring and getting ahead on paperwork or something like that." Hange sighs. "Translation: Levi is either cleaning, avoiding sleep with paperwork or trying to exercise SERIOUS self-control because Eren is being loud and pissing the 104th off right now. He and Jean have been arguing all afternoon." They sigh once again, even more dramatically. "And people say women are moody. They have nothing on Eren Jaeger. He's being really strange at the moment." They flap a hand dismissively. "I'm sure it'll all come exploding out of him at some point, whatever's wrong. He's not exactly good at keeping his feelings in check." "Anyway, we're back. Slight update, we're in a fancy new base now that Mitras has finally recognized that the Scouts do most of the legwork in keeping the Walls safe. Erwin's planning out the next six missions probably and-" The door swings open and Erwin leans against the doorframe with a sigh. "You know, if you're going to hold these meetings, it would be courteous and professional to wait for the rest of us since this is supposed to be a three-way account," the commander remarks. Hange bites their lips against the snigger that is rising. "Can't believe you just said that, Erwin." "Courteous and professional, huh?" Levi's tired drawl comes from behind Erwin who steps into the room to let the shorter man man step inside. Levi's dark circles are even more pronounced and he fixes Hange with a supremely irritated glare as he stalks to the sofa and sits down. "Two words, Hange is definitely unfamiliar with." "Excuse you, Captain Social Graces," Hange scoffs back. "Have you ever thought about switching to coffee? It might liven you up a-" They trail off at the sight of the glower that Levi is shooting them. "Point made, Scowly Joe." "You didn't answer my point," Erwin remarks closing the door behind him and striding towards the desk. "To be fair, I have a little more time than you and I figured that I could just pass on any questions," Hange smiles. "And are there any questions?" Erwin raises both of his impressive eyebrows at them. "Hange," Levi remarks, eyeing the slowly toppling paperwork. Hange ignores him. "Not yet but I'm sure people will want to know what we've been up to this past year. " "Hange..." Levi's second warning is cut off by the paperwork toppling over Hange and their muffled cry. "Idiot..."

"I knew taking care of the horses was your favorite chore, but I am surprised to find you here so early!" Nifa says as she joins them in the tack room. "Did you eat breakfast at least?" she adds in a worried tone.

"I brewed some tea & snacked on a biscuit or two before coming to the stable, thanks for asking Nifa!" says anon as they carry a saddle & a cloth out to their mare's stall.

"Why did you harness Erwin's, Levi's & Hange's horses? & why are you getting Hope ready too? Where are you all going?"

Nifa starts to comb & plain the horse's mane as anon puts the cloth, saddle & tack on the mare.

"I groomed the four horses because we're going to ride in the forest this morning" they reply. "I brushed them & picked out their hoofs earlier. Maybe you can warm them up while I fill the feeding troughs & the waterers for the others before leaving. I managed to get extra barley last week, the horses will appreciate a little treat I think!" they giggle.

"Well, Squad Leader Hange did not say anything about them leaving the HQ today! Will you really join them for the ride?" she asks.

"That's my idea actually!" they reply, a little flustered. "I invited them on the terrace for tea yesterday & it went pretty well between us I may say! I offered they ride in the forest with me today. They all agreed in spite of the amount of work & Captain Levi suggested we could patrol together."

Anon smiles shyly. Their face blushes at this memory & the memory of the Valentine's chocolates & bouquet they gave to Levi. They don't say anything about it to Nifa though.

"When I'll be back we can muck out & spread fresh straw in the stalls!" they finally add.

Nifa agrees.

"I must go to the mess hall now, I'm starving!" she says as she walks away towards the HQ main building. "See you later then! You won't be alone too long, your dates are coming to you!" she jokes.

"Wh-what? No, don't say that Nifa, it's...no, please just don't!"

Anon raises their head, grins & blushes as they watch Erwin, Levi & Hange walk briskly towards them.

🍭 - anon

"Good morning, anon!" Hange waves cheerfully as they lead the trio through the stable doors. "It looks like it's going to be an awesome day for a ride." They make a beeline for the furthest stall to the left where their new piebald mare is already leaning her head out of the stall in greeting. "Hello my love!" Hange beams, extending her hand to feed the horse an apple. "Good morning to you, Sylvie. Have you had a good sleep?"

As they chat away to their horse, Erwin walks up to the anon with a warm smile. "Good morning indeed. I hope you got plenty of rest after your hard work yesterday and the effort you put into that tea." He approaches his own white stallion, grabbing the prepared gear for him on the way. "I rather think when the day starts off this bright, it sets a good start to the day."

"Or it's just lulling you into a false sense of security," Levi remarks, already inside the stall of his black stallion and placing a saddle over his back. He rubs his steed's neck as the animal nickers. "It could turn out to be a real shitty day."

Erwin sighs. "Levi, some optimism wouldn't kill you."

"Levi is his usual cheerful self then?" Hange giggles from where they are fastening their horse's bridle on.

Levi watches the anon flee, slowly blinking. "Huh," he remarks, "thanks". Stepping back into the room, he closes the door with his elbow. "I didn't realize Valentine's Wishes came with the knock and run approach," he sighs.

He approaches the round table currently decked out in candles and holding up a still steaming dinner prepared by Erwin. Levi holds up the chocolates. "Hange can stop bitching about no dessert now."

"Hey I wasn't-"

"You were and you were the one who burned the original in the first place," Levi counters. He puts the chocolates to one side.

"You say that like you and Erwin didn't play your part in distracting me," Hange huffs through a growing grin. They get to their feet. "Which way did anon go? I wanna go and thank them."

"Hange, you can thank them later," Erwin reaches up to wrap an arm around their waist. "Your food will get cold."

Hange eyes the doorway with a guilty expression but then allows themself to sink back into their seat. "That anon is really quite special. I've gotta think of something pretty good to say thanks."

"We'll think of something," Levi resumes his own seat.

Erwin nods and raises his glass. "Indeed we will."

Hange laughs goofily for a moment before they nod enthusiastically. "Oh very very very true."

Erwin considers his answer. "Maybe."

"Oi, you can't give maybe as an answer." Levi grumbles. "If I have to answer, so do you." He eyes the anon. "True."

Erwin smiles at Levi. "Very well. True."

I have been told that I seem to experience the world alot differently than most people do and I find joy and excitement in things most people would find mundane. Though yes, it does make me quite naive and has gotten me into trouble before because I find I trust people too quickly sometimes, but I'm working on that. Gotta learn to protect myself.

As far as recommendations for trip ideas for you guys someday, me and my partner really like just being out in nature, especially by lakes, so when we wanna get away we enjoy camping near the lake! I know it's probably not too far off from what you're used to doing on Scouting Missions, but I highly recommend it regardless. There's this place near me that so far away from cities and towns that there's no light position and the sky almost glows from the amount of stars you can see! Its one of my favourite places. Only downside is it gets really cold at night, even in the summer, cause it's on top of a mountain but thats nothing a nice blanket can't fix!

Also, Hange, if I knew Levi wouldn't kill me I'd give you a pet cat. I have two of my own and they are my everything!

"It takes a lot to recognize a weakness and attempt to improve oneself," Erwin tells the anon. "This world is dangerous, inside the walls and outside so learning how to protect yourself is a very good idea." He leans his arm across Hange's chair. "I hope you keep that unique way of looking at the world. We need people to recognize the beauty in things otherwise we lose a piece of what we're fighting for."

Hange exaggeratedly sniffs. "I keep telling Erwin he would make a good politician, spewing out speeches like that. Only we can actually trust him."

Levi quietly considers the anon's recommendation. "If we're going to be taking time off, it doesn't really matter if we're revisiting old terrain. At least this time we won't be training anyone or putting up with any bullshit."

Erwin chuckles. "And by bullshit, Levi means squad members just being loud and argumentative."

"It's bullshit."

Hange's face lights up when the anon talks about giving them a cat. "Oh I would so dearly love a cat! Don't fret about Levi. He's not quite as menacing as he'd have you believe." They declare with a mischievous side-eye.

"Tch, stop making me out to be terrifying, Four-Eyes."

"To be fair, you are a little bit." Hange holds up two fingers very close together before looking back at the anon. "Sadly my busy schedule wouldn't allow me to keep a pet regardless. But you have two, you say?! Tell me about them!"

"Hange," Levi chides, "you're going to make them late."

"Fine!" Hange throws their hands up. "But tell me next time, okay?" they ask pleadingly.

"Be nice, Levi." Hange scoffs and eyes the anon. "Here's the link to their post on the main blog where fic questions etc would normally be answered."

"Thank you for your kind words about the admin," Erwin says. "They really appreciate it and it's not a hardship for us to explain."

If you do discover a non-threatening sentient race in the space beyond the sky, what would you three be first interested in? For example: Anatomy, culture, language, etc.

"So we're ignoring on how something like that would be possible?" Levi enquires dryly. "Very well then. I suppose you could say learning how to survive in that society would be pretty essential. So I'd want to learn about the food, what these people get up to and whether there's anything that could be dangerous to us."

Erwin nods along with Levi's words. "Yes, establishing our safety while acknowledging their customs would be very important. We don't want to offend them left, right and centre if we can help it."

"And yet we're bringing Levi along," snickers Hange.

"Shut up, Four-Eyes."

"We should try and respect their history." Erwin continues with a smile towards the bickering others.

"Nothing to do with you liking history then," Hange muses with a gleam in their glasses and a laugh.

Erwin shrugs with a chuckle. "I admit it. But what would your first priority be? Presumably your interests would be scientific?"

"Yeah," Hange muses. "Science is such a broad subject and there's a lot of useful knowledge we can learn from it. Although it'd be good to see what transportation technology they have too. Although learning language would be fantastic!" they enthuse. "I am curious about the food as well and-"

"Hange," Erwin interrupts with a chuckle. "You can't pick everything."

"Thank you so much for the compliments" they mutter as a touch of pink appears on their cheeks. "It's always a pleasure to share some good tea and homemade cookies !"

They pause as they look down at their fingers fidgeting with the fabric of their jacket. They smile dreamily as the memory comes to their mind.

"I used to cook these with my grandmother as a child. Sometimes with cinnamon, sometimes with other spices."

They sigh, but a warm smile soon brightens their face.

"For the gifts, well…This is not much, but it's the least I can do !"

*looking away as they blush in embarrassment*

"The three of you carry Humanity's hope on your shoulders after all ; a few tea blends or books will never be enough to reward your dedication !"

They fix a friendly gaze on the Captain.

"And don't worry about how expensive they may or may not be, Captain Levi. I've got more money than I need for myself & it's not like I have someone else to spoil anyway."

Getting up from their chair, they gather the empty cups, the saucers, teapot & spoons on a tray.

They now turn to face Erwin.

"Since you put me in charge of the food supply for the Survey Corps last year Commander, I was able to befriend some of our suppliers. So every once in a while, we can get extras or discounts. Please let me know if you need something special, I'll try to find it for you."

A pause.

They open their mouth, but pause again as if a bit reluctant to ask for something.

Finally they dare to speak.

"We barely visited the neighborhood since we moved to the new HQ & I plan to go horse riding in the woods nearby tomorrow morning. Would you like to come with me, if you're not too busy ?"

They grab their basket to hang it on their forearm & take the tray away.

"I must hurry up & wash the dishes before joining Nifa in the stables. I promised we would treat our horses to a couple of apples we saved yesterday."

They start to walk away, but turn briefly to smile at them.

"Thank you again for joining me for tea, I'm honored you spent some time with a simple soldier like me !"

Leaning to Hange with a big smile, they whisper in their ear cheerfully.

"Your hug was the most heartwarming hug I've ever had, thank you Squad Leader. I promise I'll tell you more about that botany book one day."

They resume heading back to the mansion.

"Enjoy the rest of your afternoon ! I'll be in the east aisle if you need me."

"We're the ones who owe you the thanks," Erwin insists, raising a hand to halt the anon's gratitude. "While I appreciate your thanks, it was a pleasure to join you for such a pleasant gathering."

Hange giggles at their boyfriend and pats his massive bicep. "Erwin always talks so formal. It's adorable," they remark. "But he's right. This was great." Their eyes have lit up at the mention of the ingredients. Already they are picturing the preparations and possible results of using other spices too. Unfortunately, they don't have a lot of time to make them but they are already wondering if they can convince Moblit to do it.

Levi remains quiet as the others thank the anon. His grey-blue eyes fix on the anon with a kind of curious wariness as they express their gratitude towards the trio's fighting abilities. "It's a nice sentiment but we cannot take all the credit for holding up humanity's hopes. There are many capable soldiers within the Scouts, soldiers we are fortunate to be able to count on."

"While that is true," Hange agreed, "I'd be quite happy to sit in a bit of the glory our lovely friend is giving us," they enthuse with a playful cackle that has Levi's eyes rolling. He nudges Hange's knee and their smile widens. "Don't mind Mr Bashful here." they say with a nod at Levi. "He's still adjusting to the Humanity's Strongest nickname. Bless him."

"Shut up. Hange."

Meanwhile Erwin is listening to the anon speak of their friendship with suppliers. "I see your generosity knows no bounds." he smiles up at them. "It would be much appreciated if you can get anything extra. There's not much we've been able to reward our soldiers with so this would be a good boost for them. So I will let you know, thank you."

Erwin considers the invitation with some thought. "A ride would be rather good. We are rather busy, however we may have some time." He eyes Hange and Levi with one impressive eyebrow raised.

Hange begins to smile brightly. "Hell yeah, I could go for a good ride out," they say.

Levi's eyes sweep around the area for a moment. "We could probably combine such a thing with a patrol," he suggests after a pause. "Four of us would be enough for a patrol squad," he adds.

"Indeed," Erwin answers, satisfied. "In which case, we'd be happy to come with you," he tells the anon.

Levi rises from the table. "Leave the dishes with me. I'll clean them while you attend to your duties," he insists, beckoning for the tray with his hands. "I have time to spare."

Hange frowns up at the anon. "Hey there's nothing simple about you being a soldier. You're an asset," they tell them. Their eyes light up at the heartwarming whisper and assurance of more knowledge. They take the chance to hug the anon again, this time far more fiercely. "Ah you are so lovable," they beam with a gentler squeeze. "And so squishy."

Levi eyes Hange disapprovingly. "Hange, let go before you break their spine."

"Relax, Levi."

The three of them watch the anon go with intrigued expressions except for Hange who is beaming after them with delighted eyes.

I figured Levi would be suspicious of all the anons, I can't blame him for the worry.

Also, I could cry cause I'm just a naturally super emotional person and heightened emotions usually make me cry, including positive ones heh.

Anyway, I actually have a question to ask this time! I hope nobody asked this already but have you guys ever gone on a trip together, just the three of you? And I don't mean Scouting trips, but personal ones to spend time together? If so where did you go and if you haven't where would you three want to go someday?

"Ah yes, that is a cat," Erwin observes with a twinkling glance at Hange who is gazing adoringly at the icon, "and a fine cat it is too."

"It's a drawing," Levi observes around Erwin's arm. "Not bad though. You'd think it was a real cat the way you talk, Eyebrows."

"If only it was!" Hange sighs dramatically and flops onto the couch, flat on their back. "A precious kitty for the Scouts."

"Hange," Erwin says patiently, walking over and touching their cheek with his hand. "your ability to actually look after a cat would be compromised by your many responsibilities and research projects."

"Not to mention your general scattiness," Levi added. "You have enough trouble taking care of your own basic needs when you're "in the zone"" he makes the quotation marks with his fingers, "let alone being responsible for an animal. Someone else would end up taking care of it and I'm telling you, Shitty Glasses, that isn't going to be me."

Hange contemplates this, ignoring the insult. "You do like cleaning."

"Not after animals. It's enough of a hassle bathing you," Levi grumbles.

Levi eyes the anon at the acknowledgement of his suspicion. "It's too easy for people to hide behind those creepy faces and say shit."

Erwin listens attentively to the anon's talk of their heightened emotions. "That must make living life far more interesting for you. On the one hand, you are more vulnerable but does it also stand that you also take more joy out of the world?" He sounds genuinely intrigued.

Levi considers the anon's question. "Outside of Scouting expeditions, we've only ever gone to Mitras together. Most of the time, at least one of us is needed to stay at base. Mitras trips are an exception as our troops need time to recover and so the three of us can afford to go to that shitty capital. But outside of work, no."

"That's something we should do sometime," Hange suggested. "Next time we have some downtime we should go somewhere for the weekend."

"Tch, when was the last time we could spare that much time?" Levi counters.

"One day!" Hange insists. "One day!"

"We'll have to see," Erwin explains to the anon. "It's not something we've discussed much. As for where to go..."

"As Scouts, we've seen a lot of territory," Hange says. "But I suppose it would have to be within the Walls."

"Yeah no shit," Levi scoffs. "You might be happy to have titans come and join us but I personally don't want to be eaten."

Hange seems to pretend to not have heard him. "The countryside inside the Walls would be quite nice. Somewhere we could sit outside and look at the stars without all of that city noise."

"Maybe within Wall Rose," Levi muses. "We shouldn't be too far away in case some other crazy shit goes down."

Hange sighs into their tea. "I'd like to say that you're just being paranoid but past experience speaks for itself."

"Exactly."

Erwin leans back in his seat and sips his tea. "Yes, it sounds quite peaceful." He smiles at the anon. "I don't suppose you have any recommendations?"

God I'm so glad you guys are on here. I love all three of you guys so much I could cry. I know that'd probably come off a bit weird, especially to Levi, but honestly you three are amazing and I hope you guys have a wonderful day!

Levi sighs. "Why is no one revealing their true names? That's suspicious."

"Oh don't stress about it, Mr Paranoid." Hange scoffs. "It's all just a bit of fun."

"Tch, if you say so."

"It is interesting that people are adopting these little faces to represent themselves." Erwin muses.

"They could be anyone. They could be... problematic," Levi remarks. His gaze focuses on the anon. "I don't see why you would need to cry if you love us so damn much.... or why you love us that much."

"Please ignore our resident grump," Hange tells the anon. "I hope you have a wonderful day too and thanks for your awesome message for us!"

"Humanity's Smartest huh?" Levi quips. "Not smart enough to take hints though." He scowls up at his partner. "Will you kill your volume Shitty Glasses? Or do you want to give your new buddy a headache?"

What do you think about this tea blend, Captain Levi ? It's Assam black tea, with bergamot, lemon & grapefruit dried peels, marigold & blueberry flowers. My favorite.

Erwin leans back in his seat and smiles at the anon. "I very much agree with you. Especially when we are graced with a little sun like today." He lifts his bright eyes to the cloudy horizon. For a number of seconds, his eyes seem to lose some of their focus, turning cloudy themselves as if he's falling into a dream. "And it's good for the soul, to step away from things for a while. It's how we can hang on to some perspective. I think we're all a little guilty of being swept up in things."

Levi scoffs. "We haven't had much chance to do much else. It's been one thing after another fucking thing."

"Levi please," Erwin chides his boyfriend gently.

Levi's cutting remark is lost when the anon asks about his view of the tea. He takes a long sip of the steaming liquid despite the temperature. "It's.... good," he decides after a long pause. "It has a lot of flavours. It might have been too many if they weren't blended so well. This is an impressive blend," he acknowledges. His eyes cautiously gaze into anon's. "This must be an expensive luxury. I appreciate you sharing some with us."

He lowers his cup to the saucer when anon presents him with a gift. "Why would you...?" he begins to say. "You owe us nothing." He eyes the box that is presented to him and, after much hesitation, takes it carefully into his hand and puts it on his lap. He opens the box and stares inside. "This is far too luxurious a gift to just be giving away like this." Although his words are protesting, he speaks with a reverence and the quietness of his voice softens his tone. "Thank you," he murmurs.

Hange's hand slides over Levi's elbow and they give him an unusually quiet smile as he closes the box and places it carefully on the table behind his cup and saucer.

Erwin takes the offered book. "This is really too kind a gesture," he tells the anon with a smile. "I am very grateful for the thought you put into this." Flicking through some pages, he smiles down at the poem titles. "This looks like it will be a very relaxing read." Raising his head, he smiles at the anon even more. "I will definitely share some favourites with you."

By this point Hange's eyes are gleaming behind their glasses as they are presented with a book as well. They lean forward and throw their arm around the anon, pulling them into a hug. "You are awesome! Awesome, awesome, awesome!" they declare enthusiastically. They grin at the implication of how this book was obtained. "Don't worry, I won't draw attention to this," they promise. Their eyebrows wriggle. "I might have to hear that story from you though sometime. That sounds like a promising tale."

They focus now on the book and begin to leaf through it with growing fascination by the second. "This is wonderful. Look at all the medicinal uses of... and... wow," they muse, "that could come in really handy. A lot of this is stuff we pass by on expeditions." Their head jerks up, the giddiness replaced by exhilaration in their gaze. "This is going to be so freaking good for my experiments!" they hiss with a massive smile. "Erwin-" they whirl around on their boyfriend who huffs with amusement.

"Running another titan experiment isn't a high priority yet, Hange, but you'll get a chance to put your findings to good use." Erwin promises.

Levi watches the anon quietly. "Why would you do all this for us? This must have cost you a great deal." He eyes the mentioned cinammon cookies with some contemplation.

Hange grabs two cookies and bits into one with a noisy groan of approval while Erwin politely picks one up and bites into it. After a moment, Levi carefully takes a smaller one and begins to chew on the edge.

"These are exceptional," Erwin agrees. "Thank you."

"You're skilled at baking," Levi agrees between tentative bites.

"Anon, you really are the best!" Hange shrieks, squirming in excitement. "Really, you're such a sweetheart. Maybe one day I'll get to know your name?"

"If you don't want Hange chasing you down for the rest of your life, I'd stay quiet," Levi remarks over a cup of tea.

Hange huffs. "I'm a delight to be around, Captain Grumpy."

"If you say so."

Erwin smiles at the anon. "Thank you for the kind gesture. It's very much appreciated. The Scouts are not particularly popular generally so this positivity is very welcome."
