PAWS Legal Assistance
Paws offer free legal assistance to pet owners and concerned citizens who want to pursue legal action against animal offenders. To qualify for this program, certain conditions need to be met.
Gather Evidence
Often, the most compelling evidence is the animal itself. However, if it’s not possible to confiscate the animal, other pieces of evidence must be present. Videos, photos, and other witness accounts will build a stronger case against the animal offender, especially if it’s a case of pet neglect.
Execute an Affidavit
An affidavit is a narration of facts which include the complete details of the incident: 1) Name/s of the people involved, 2) date, time and location of the incident, and 3) a detailed description of the events that occurred. Without this witness affidavit, no charges can be filed.
Sign an Agreement with PAWS
You need to sign an agreement with PAWS indicating that you, the complainant and primary witness, will not back out. This is because PAWS will be shouldering all the legal expenses, which will commence as soon as the case is filed. We do not want our efforts and resources to go to waste.
Testify in Court
Finally, you need to be prepared to appear in court and testify. PAWS has had numerous victories in court, all of which would not have been possible if it weren’t for the determination and perseverance of ordinary citizens who bravely spoke on behalf of these voiceless, helpless victims.

Animal cruelty is a crime that is punishable by law.
If we see animal cruelty in progress (e.g. ‘dog katay’ or selling and buying dogs for meat trade, or someone inflicting harm to animals) it is our obligation to report it to the authorities. Turning a blind eye or keeping silent contributes to the spread of inhumanity and injustice. Call barangay officials and/or  police hotline 911 immediately. Posting on social media is NOT taking action. Tagging PAWS and other animal welfare groups is NOT taking action.

What is animal rights?
Animal rights means that animals deserve certain kinds of consideration—consideration of what is in their best interests, regardless of whether they are “cute,” useful to humans, or an endangered species and regardless of whether any human cares about them at all. It means recognizing that animals are not ours to use—for food, clothing, entertainment, or experimentation.

The Insulating Capacity of Coconut (cocos nucifera) husks and its effectivity as an alternative material in making a thermal vacuum and sunshade
Philippines have always experienced a great number of typhoons through the past years. These typhoons have caused great wreckage and fatalities among Filipinos, their surroundings, and their society as a whole. One of the major causes which generates these problems and natural disasters, is climate change. It  strengthens typhoons entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as intense temperature contributes to its power. Climate change can lead to tropical cyclones with higher rainfall, greater intensity, and greater proportion of high intensity. It  is a major factor in the extremities of temperature, especially in the country as according to Notre Dame Global Adaptation Initiative (ND- GAIN) its dependence on agriculture and heavy exposure to climate related disasters (on average 19 events per year over the last decade), already proved Philippines’ vulnerability to climate change. Another factor of high temperature in the country is the humidity which is defined to be as the amount of moisture in the air (PAGASA, 2015). Humidity is relatively high in the Philippines and with high amount of moisture or vapor present in the air makes temperature higher. This is due to a few factors, one, the Philippines is surrounded with bodies of water, and it produces a large quantity of moisture once evaporated.  Prevailing winds also greatly affects the degree of humidity, as well as the copious rains which continually happens in the country. Conventionally, today, thermal insulators (materials which prevents heat from moving from one place to another), which are preferred to be incorporated are fiberglass, mineral wool, cellulose, polyurethane foam and the like which commonly are non-renewable resources, and with direct contact causes short-term effects. The instruments, or the thermal insulators must be compact, ensuring that no air will flow through, to keep the area from heat gain or loss and maintain its current temperature. With the reduction of heat loss, it can also be energy saving, because it will lessen energy demands, (Upadhyay.et.al, 2015) as well as preserve the buildings as it prevents humidity, molds, freezing, deformation and corrosion among metallic materials which are most commonly used on foundations.  This research aims to determine if the coconut husk can be an alternative insulator. Another reason for creating this study is to build a thermos from coconut husk that are often thrown away because of not having a lot of function.
