Earth N Posts
I've removed the Earth N fan fiction, which has been archived by @amanda-multifandom. This isn't really the place for it. As she and I discussed, she's free to use any of those scenes in her official story. It was definitely fun exploring that world. I hadn't written Rachel Walker, who some consider a legend now, in many, many years. Doing that was like catching up with an old friend who hadn't changed a bit.

Spotlight: Janet Elisonne
Tumblr media
Featured in tales by @amanda-multifandom, she is the current commander of the Intergalactic Union Agency and the resident anti-heroine of the Gordon family. At present, she is attempting to maintain a friendship with her ex-husband while guiding several young operatives, namely Richie Ryan, Rachel Walker, her niece Sara, her other niece April, and, of course, her daughter Tori.

Defenders Chronicles: Highlander -- Fan-Fan Fiction
"I know you love Dale, and I'm fine with that," Janet declared. "And I know that she told you about my mistake..."
Tori shook her head. "She never told me. I learned on my own." She let her gaze linger on the floor for a moment.
"...That was kind of her," Janet acknowledged. She took a long breath. "I'm not a perfect woman, I never will be, but I want to try to make a difference in this world -- and it would please me if you were by my side. Not because you're smart. Because you're my daughter."
------------
The Netherworld
Jedda knelt with Rick at Hadea's throne, waiting for an answer to why they'd been called. Rick's eyes were fastened on the queen's bare feet, which was the proper way to show respect. Jedda got to look at her mother's face.
Hadea was clearly in serious mode -- even more serious than usual. She rested her arms along those of her chair. "Duncan MacLeod...has certain opponents. Many will rise in the days to come."
Jedda's brow twitched. She was surprised. "How did you even know of Duncan MacLeod?" And why did Hadea care about the guy? His struggles were occurring on the surface world.
"His clan and mine have history. A vow was made very long ago. There is a debt to be settled now." She paused a few seconds. "In order to assist him as best I can, I have to ascend to the rank of Empress. The title of Queen...shall go to another."
Jedda froze stiff, staring at her. This simply couldn't mean what she thought it did.
Rick began glancing between them both.
"I know that you desire to bond with...Jade..." Hadea said the name rather quietly. "But I may need your assistance soon."
Jedda had to pause to take all of it in. A part of her was utterly stunned by this. Another part of her wasn't smitten at all. She'd sensed she was going to live here someday. She was the Princess of the Netherworld, a title she'd been given when she'd met Hadea, when she was adopted informally.
But ruling here? Reigning as queen? She wasn't so sure she was ready for that -- even if Hadea could help her prepare. "Mother..." she murmured. "Do you mean me?"
"It is the safest course of action now," Hadea affirmed. "Once MacLeod's opponents know who you are, once they have learned of the bond we share, they will endeavor to hunt you down. When the time arrives for you to join this fight, you will have better resources here. You shall be able to defend yourself -- and to assist any others in need."
Jedda knew Hadea had a valid point, but she wasn't sure about this just yet. She and Rick had made certain plans above. They weren't quite ready to abandon those.
Where, exactly, would their future be?

Defenders Chronicles: Highlander, Fan-Fan Fiction
The Present
Tori stood with Richie right across from her mother. She'd had a grim feeling that this wouldn't go well. Now she could tell she was right about that.
Janet cupped her hands just on top of her desk, scowling as she studied Richie's lax demeanor. His head was to the side. A hand was in his pocket. He wasn't honoring the formalities.
Tori heaved a chuckle, then leaned toward her friend. "Arms held straight. Chin held high."
"Right!" he muttered, adjusting himself.
Janet made a nod. "I wanted to commend both of you on your work."
"Thanks, Jammin' Janet," he said with a smile.
Tori closed her eyes, stroking her brow.
"You will address me as 'leader,' Richard, even when you aren't really working for me."
He cleared his throat. "Sorry. Leader."
Tori looked aside.
"I'll say it with honor," Richie continued. "I've heard a whole lot of good things about you.
"Unfortunately, I can't report the same."
Richie squirmed a bit.
"But I certainly hope that will change in time," Janet revealed, "especially if you plan to socialize with my daughter."
Tori took a breath. "Are we all done now?"
Janet stared a moment. "You both are dismissed."
Tori turned to leave. Richie followed her.

Fantastic! Absolutely Fantastic!
Defenders Chronicles: Highlander, Fan-Fan Fiction
The Present
Richie took a seat beside Tori's stool, watching as she slipped a thin headpiece on. "So let me make sure I've got everything right..." He was amazed by the skill she'd displayed -- and maybe just a little bit irked as well. "You hacked your way into traffic cameras, tracked the villains to their secret lair...and now you're gonna hack into their camera too?"
Tori frowned a tad. "They don't have a camera set up in there."
"Ah!" he uttered, triumphantly. "So even Slick Vic knows defeat at times."
Tori stroked her temple. She stared at the ceiling. "You keep talking to me like you hope that I'll fail -- as though you think I'm utterly perfect or something."
Richie squirmed a bit. "I didn't say that."
"When I was a girl, little kids resented me for being 'too smart.' You seem to have the same maturity as some of them."
Richie turned away, regretting his words. He tended to speak before he thought sometimes. "Listen...Tor..."
"Hold on." She paused. "I've locked in on their signal."
"I thought you said they didn't have a camera in there."
"We can't watch the guys, but we can still hear them."
He folded his arms. "And how, exactly, are we going to do that?"
"Via the device that I planted on one." Tori moved back and sat the headpiece down. "I'm putting their discussion on speakerphone."
Within a few seconds, Richie could hear all the targets talking.
"Der MacLeod-Pfad führt nach Thailand," one of them said.
Richie scowled a little. "I don't speak Italian."
"It's actually German."
"I don't speak that either."
"No problem. I do."
He flinched in surprise.
"They said that the trail leads to Thailand." She stood.
"So let's smash 'em now."
"Hold on, hotshot..." She settled his wrist. "We might want to see where they lead us first. That way, we may nail the rest of their crew. I'm going to give my mother and April a call."

Defenders Chronicles: Highlander -- Fan-Fan Fiction
The Present
Her cousin was shaking on the granite ground.
"Tori!" April ran and knelt at her side. Tori felt frail and weak in her arms. Her eyes had a hazy and distant look. "Can you hear me, Tor? Do you know who I am?"
Tori shook a little, pausing a second. "...Take me home, A. Just take me back home."
April knew exactly what Tori meant -- back to the place where they'd both grown up. They still had the keys. It hadn't been sold. It was mainly used as their summer house now.
-----------
The home was covered in a dark-blue hue. Everything was absolutely quiet within.
She sat cross-legged on her bed with Tori, just as they had done on so many occasions. The house was flowing with memories -- holiday seasons, birthday parties, little Rick sharing his dreams of heroics.
But April couldn't focus on the past right now. She had to zero in on the present instead. "What happened, Tor?" she asked with caution. She sensed that she wouldn't like the answer at all.
Tori eyed her lap. "It was really weird," she managed to mutter. "I blacked out a moment, and when I woke up...I kind of felt like I had changed somehow."

Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Brainiac
Originally the planetary-wide supercomputer of Krypton, Brainiac gained sentience and determined that its overarching goal was to collect and safeguard all information.  When Jor-El discovered that Krypton was doomed to explode, Brainiac refuted the findings thus dissuading the Science Council from acting on Jor-El’s warning.
In truth Brainiac did not have the time to oversee a planet-wide evacuation.  Instead it transferred its consciousness and the entirety of Krypton’s history, science and knowledge into satellite that could escape.   For Brainiac, knowledge and information was the only thing in the galaxy that had meaning and value.  With Krypton’s destruction and the eradication of the entire populace, Brainiac would be the sole possessor of this knowledge, making it all the more valuable.
Brainiac fled and began a survey of the cosmos.  Any technology or lifeforms it encountered, were scanned, stored, annexed and destroyed.  Accrued technologies amplified Brainiac’s power.  It took on a humanoid form and wielded incredible abilities.  Soon Brainiac had the capacity to conquer entire worlds, catalog its information and then destroy the planet.  It did this with many worlds, leaving a path of devastation in its wake.
Eventually, Brainiac happened upon Earth and discovered that a Kryptonian refugee had come to this world.  It correctly surmised that this refugee (Superman) would possess mighty powers due to Earth’s yellow sun.  As such it proceeded with caution.  Brainiac presented itself to Superman as a fellow survivor of Krypton, tempting the hero with all of the lost history and knowledge of his home planet.
Superman and Lex Luthor were able to determine the truth about Brainiac; how it always destroyed the source of information once it had been collected.  Clearly this was Brainac’s intentions for earth. Assisted by Luthor, Superman was able to defeat and destroy Brainiac and the threat of its malevolence appeared to be gone for good.  And yet this would prove to be merely the first of many encounters between Superman and the foe.
Every ounce of Brainiac contained a self-replicating blueprint that could reconstitute its original whole.  Luther foolishly studied the wreckage of Brainiac’s spacecraft hoping to utilize the advanced technology; and this allowed the villain to return.
Actor Corey Burton provided the voice for Brainiac, with the insidious artificial intelligence first appearing in the debut episode of Superman: The Animated Series, ‘The Last Son of Krypton Part I.’

Defenders Chronicles: Highlander -- Fan-Fan Fiction
IUA Base -- 10:20 am
Janet eyed the screen that was sprawled on a wall, both arms quivering along her chest. The feed relayed a view of a faraway cave. Thirty ice robots were kneeling within. All of them were dormant, but not for long. Each would awaken in around five minutes. Then they'd march out and strike a town nearby, shooting the civilians who had yet to escape.
"We're estimating hundreds of casualties, leader," a male agent said as he eyed a computer. "The townspeople simply didn't flee soon enough."
Janet made a grumble, tightening her fists. From what she'd learned, Ming had set a bit of insurance in place: in the event that he was thwarted somehow, satellites would beam certain signals to Earth -- one at a time, gradually.
Each of the beams would reach one of his forts, bases that he'd hidden quite carefully. Then his robots would start targeting people.
Once the Gordon family had learned of this plan, they'd scurried to destroy all the space satellites, and rushed to bombard all the bases too.
This base was shielded by a mountain of rock. An aerial assault wasn't likely to work. An army wouldn't have proper space to attack.
The only solution was to send one person -- more specifically, a particular woman.
Janet's niece Sara popped up from a chair. She was on loan from a different team. "Leader!" she said, keeping it formal. "I've just received word from our agent on-site. She'll make her assault in 5...4...3...2..."
Janet eyed the screen. Nothing occurred. The agent that she'd hired hadn't shown up yet. "Where is she?" she asked, turning to Sara.
Sara sat down. She tapped her headpiece. "Agent?" she called. "Are you at the location?"
The robots awakened, rising as one. All of their eyes bore a crimson glow. Each was equipped with a small sidearm -- which they would use against the people in town.
Sara faced her aunt. "Sorry..." She squirmed. "She tends to be late."
The male worker scoffed. "Then why do people send her on jobs like this?"
Just as the robots were leaving the cave, a caped girl swung from a cable above, bowling several down like a white line of pins.
Sara grinned a bit. "You're about to find out."
The caped girl landed, taking a breath, brushing back a lock of her long black hair.
Two of the machines started shooting at her.
With very little effort, she leaned to the left -- and then to the right. The robots hit a pair of their partners instead.
She pulled twin blasters, then twirled in place, downing many robots with a bevy of shots.
Janet's jaw lowered as she studied the scene.
The girl stopped spinning, then threw her guns down. She tucked both hands deep inside of her cape, crossing her arms as she crouched just a tad. Then she whipped them out, and little spheres flew, each of them shining as they fell to the dirt.
The girl reached upward, and squeezed a small tool. A long grappling rope shot forth from her hands. The point hit the ceiling. She rose from the ground.
Moments later, her spheres exploded, frying all the robots that were still intact.
Janet and the others watched the scene in awe. It was clear now that the town was safe.
As the smoke cleared, the girl remained hanging, using her free hand to speak on a phone. "Walker to base. Mission completed." She noticed the camera, and made a little wink.
Sara cleared her throat. "Thanks a lot, Rachel."
Rachel gave a nod, then lowered herself. "I've got to go pick my kid up from school."

This would be perfect for chapter 2.
Great scene!
Defenders Chronicles: Highlander -- Fan-Fan Fiction
Several Years Ago
A loud clap of thunder echoed over the grounds. Tori cuddled up right beneath her sheets. She was relieved to be where she belonged -- back amongst the people whom she'd grown up with.
This wasn't exactly what the courts decreed. The law said she had to give Janet a chance -- that she had to live with her mother a while.
All of that had lasted for around two weeks. Then she'd snuck away so she could come back here. This was her family. This was her home.
Her younger cousin April came and snuggled her close.
"I was simply losing my mind in there, A."
April made a chuckle. "I'm not surprised."
Tori frowned a tad, then heaved a soft sigh. April didn't have a high opinion of Janet. None of her relatives did, it seemed. Tori had attempted to bond with her mom, but found they didn't have a lot in common at all.
A very loud knock sounded off downstairs. Someone was pounding on the home's front door.
It had to be Janet. This wouldn't end well.
Tori rose a bit, and April followed suit. Both girls swore; they'd been raised not to.
Tori heard the sound of the door swinging open.
"All right, where is she?" Janet inquired.
"Where is who, Jan?" her aunt Dale replied. Tori could tell Dale was prepped for a fight. Her aunt and her mother never got along well.
"Victoria, Dale. Where is my daughter?"
"What are you saying?" Dale sounded surprised. She didn't know that Tori was here just yet. "You're telling me you don't know where Tori is?" Dale was getting angry. That was quite clear. The women would probably come to blows in a moment.
Tori and April both ran downstairs.
"Aunt Dale," Tori called. "I snuck in here."
Dale looked stunned. She touched Tori's cheek. "Hon?" she said, eyeing her closely. "What are you doing? Why'd you sneak off?"
Tori hesitated. "I know that I'm supposed to be living with Mom..." She looked at her mother. "But this is where I feel most comfortable."
April wrapped her arms around Tori's chest.
Flash walked up. "What's going on?"
Janet heaved a moan, then met Tori's gaze. "Get in the car."
"No," she answered, perhaps too sharply. "Mom..." she muttered. "I want to stay here."
"Tori..." Janet mumbled.
Flash stepped forth. "Jan," he said. "Why don't you go home? Let us talk to Tor. We'll sort this out."
Janet shook a bit. "The law says that Tori- -"
"I know that, Jan. We'll sort things out."
Janet stared a moment, then turned and left.
Tori eyed the carpet as she heard the door close.
-------------
The Present
Tori stared downward, eyeing the ground. The sound of a grunt snapped her out of her trance. Then she noticed something very strange up ahead.
"What in the world..." she uttered in awe. She'd walked to a wide open spot in the woods.
A bloodied man was kneeling. Another guy stood. The latter was armed with a glistening sword. A faint wind lifted his black ponytail.
The standing man slashed. The former's head rolled.
Tori gasped loudly. She hid behind a tree.
Then she heard what sounded like a crackle of thunder, not unlike the thunder that she'd heard long ago. It wasn't raining then, and it wasn't raining now.
She peeked outward. The armed man knelt. It looked as though lightning was surrounding him now.
Tori pulled her phone and dialed the IUA up. The agency needed to know about this.
She glanced at the screen for a moment or two. When she looked up, the man was gone.

Spotlight: Princess Astoria
Princess Astoria is a character that so far only appeared in This Is Their Story. She’s the daughter of one of the villains, Queen Astra, and Ming’s brother. That makes her Ming’s niece and the cousin of the Royal Five.
Princess Astoria is only ever mentioned by name but never contributes to the storylines when she’s younger. In Season 10, when she’s 19 years old, she’s having a conversation with Kshin. Kshin is quite smitten by the pretty princess and can’t stop thinking about her. He goes to her home planet to see her again. Astoria is also interested in him.
Astoria is very different from her mother. Like Kshin, she wants peace and openly works towards it. Both Astra and Mandrake are not too happy about the young couple.
When neither Astra nor Mandrake change their minds about the possible union, Kshin and Astoria run away and elope with only Amy, LJ and Kate present. After that, the young couple travels through the galaxy on their honeymoon.
The Defenders are welcoming towards Astoria, but Astra is far from welcoming towards Kshin. The couple moves to Astoria’s home planet where they have to deal with Astra on a daily basis.
When Kshin thinks Astra is not to be trusted, Astoria firmly believes in her mother. It is their first real fight.
Astoria usually is described as a typical girly-girl and very spoiled and a bit naive but as someone loyal who has a kind heart and sees the good in everyone.
Astra does not want Kshin as King so when Astoria one day becomes Queen, Kshin is only supposed to become Prince Regent. However, Astoria wants her husband to be her equal.
When Astra endangers Kshin, Astoria decides it’s time for her and Kshin to move in with the Defenders. She, too, wants to become a Defender now. While she lives with the Defenders, Astoria grows closer to Hadea who at first is resistent to become a mother figure for the girl.
When Astoria comes face to face with her mother during an epic battle, Hadea intervenes and goes head to head with Astra. However, she can’t use all of her magic against Astra without endangering her kids. Astoria begs her mother to spare Hadea’s life. But she’s not naive enough anymore to believe that Astra would spare anyone’s life and in the end, it’s Astoria who takes her mother’s life in order to save everyone else.
Astoria and Kshin then become Queen and King and allies of the Defenders of the Earth. Astoria also grows very close to Hadea and sees her as a mother figure.
Sadly, the story then ends… I’d have loved to see Hadea’s and Astoria’s relationship develop. I also like the idea of Kshin not being in the story as much but still being an ally when needed. In one of the earlier versions, Kshin was traveling in the galaxy, met Astoria and married her and they were written out of the story then, only appearing now and then. I like this version much better because I feel Astoria is a nice character that’s worth caring about and their love story could be very cute, even if it’s not terribly exciting.

Spotlight: Barin
Barin is a character from the original Flash Gordon series. He appears in one episode of the original DotE show. In This Is Their Story, he is the leader of the rebels and old friend and ally of Flash Gordon.
Barin takes Princess Aura hostage when we first meet him and the Phantom questions how far Barin is willing to go. Barin later convinces Sheila to join the rebellion. Over time, the two of them become friends and allies.
Barin develops feelings for Princess Aura but doesn’t know what to think of it since she’s Ming’s daughter and it’s never sure what side she’s on.
Barin fights for Mongo in a war and later, Princess Aura wants to help him to rebuild the rebels. When looking for allies, he meets Vultan who joins the rebellion with his people.
Aura and Barin enter a relationship but it takes very long for them to actually get married due to Aura’s many issues. They have a daughter named Azura together later on.
Over the course of the series, Barin is mostly seen on Mongo with the rebels or helping the Defenders in Mongo-related matters. He always remains very involved in Mongo’s future. It’s his idea to put Sheila on the throne when Aura declines. He remains working closely with both Sheila and Aura for a better future on Mongo.

Spotlight: Theron
Theron is the father and mentor of Mandrake and grandfather to Kshin and Amy. He also runs the College of Magic and is a very powerful magician.
When we first meet Theron in This Is Their Story, he’s not very attentive to non-magical Kshin and expects way to much of Amy who is just a beginner.
He watches over the Book of Mystery, also known as the Book of Enigma. The trio of Lothar, Mandrake and Cathleen all were students at the College of Magic. It’s never explained on what exactly Lothar was studying there though.
Theron is at first all for Amy experimenting with magic and studying at the College of Magic. They seem to have a good relationship and she is shown visiting him in some episodes.
After nearly ending the world, both Mandrake and Theron take Amy to the College of Magic to teach her to use her powers responsibly. Theron soon loses patience when she refuses to use magic ever again but eventually they help her through it.
When Amy is pregnant, both Mandrake and Theron are very worried about the baby’s powers.
The answer to why Amy’s powers are so similar to Damian Dark can be found in Theron’s own past. It’s hinted at that Theron is Damian Dark’s father but… since Amy’s powers mostly come from Cathleen, there should be more storyline to explore the power’s she’s inherited from Mandrake - and potentially some that link her to Damian Dark.
Theron seems to be on good terms with Mandrake and Lothar. However, when his dark past comes out, Mandrake is understandably pissed.
Theron does not show up very often. The Damian Dark storyline (well, perhaps the Book of Mystery storyline too) is the only major storyline he’s involved in. Sadly, while he seems to be on good terms with Amy, he’s hardly involved with Kshin.
