Oh yeah general plot stuff if anybody’s interested.... uuuuuh i think patton was gonna get stuck in amanda’s backpack and freak out because there was an entire room of caged pets at her house and when she opened her bag she was like “...who are you??” and then chaos of trying to return tiny borrower and brothers being frantic. Maybe virgil was going to be with patton, maybe it was virgil in the bag instead, idk i didn’t actually get that far. And then eventually one big friend group wooooooo.
Heyooo~ this blog is officially DISCONTINUED. I had fun while it lasted, but i’m not into sanders sides anymore and don’t feel like coming back to this story. It was cool doing a borrower ask blog though, maybe I’ll do something similar in the future if there’s interest! Love you all, I’m gonna empty out the ask box and post anything fun/precious I see but otherwise imma just delete ‘em. Stay sweet!

I’ve been binging this, and I just wanna say wow, Amanda is definitely a better person than me. If a cute borrower offered himself up to me and gave up his sword so he couldn’t hurt me, I’d definitely be teasing him for a bit before letting him go, saying things like “Well, what do you *think* I’m going to do with you~?”
Ye it was fun teasing roman, gosh what a good lil’ boy, I love gifting tinies swords. That should happen more often

It might just be me, but this blog's setup is *incredibly confusing*. the story continues up until chapter 10, then cuts out & is replaced by asks that are responded to using snippets of chapters I can't find, how do I read this series in chronological order? (TL;DR: am stupid, please send help)
Hi! This is a very rude way to phrase this question. But to answer, there’s a chronological link in the blog description. It began as a story and then transferred to be asks.

Are you alive Mandy? D: (totally cool if you're taking a break, just wondering)
Lol yes I’m alive! Taking a break, figuring out if I’m gonna continue this blog. I enjoy the ideas, although the casting rn I’m almost feeling iffy about, sooooo... yeah. We’ll see. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I’m glad people still enjoy this blog though and are checking in for updates!

Is virgil going to Amanda's, or elsewhere?
Virgil was proud to say he only got lost twice following his brothers map, thank you very much. Navigation had never been his strong suit, but as the night hours crept on Virgil put his faith in the directions at hand paired with his survival skills. He could do this. In fact, it almost felt like he’d walked this path before. The walls were slowly growing more familiar, like... like a repressed memory...
“Oh hell no.” Virgil hissed, peeking out to see the exact room he had never wanted to be again.
There, asleep in bed just across the room, was Amanda.

You can do it, Virgil!!
“Bye, Virgil!” Patton hugged Virgil one last time. “Have fun!”
Virgil snorted. The idea of a borrower outing being ‘fun’ was the last thing on his mind. Thankfully, his older brothers had more functional advice.
“Here is a list of objects we want you to retrieve.” Logan held out the second sheet, giving Virgil an awkward pat on the back.
“Stay safe, NightMouse.” Roman gave Virgil a tighter hug than usual.
“Yeah, ‘course.” Well, no putting it off now. Virgil gave an awkward salute. “Uh....see ya, I guess.”
With these famous last words, Virgil left the safety of their borrower dwelling and went off on his own.

Is this blog not active because of a lack of asks???
I mean more are always appreciated, and I could use more, but right now it’s more so that classes have started up so updates are less frequent.

I think Virgil would rather go in Amanda's room again than let Patton go alone...
“…truly?” Logan seemed surprised by Patton’s response. “But I was certain-”
“You heard him, specks, Patton doesn’t want to go!” Roman was hiding his joy poorly.
“No no, I still want to go.” Patton hastily corrected, not wanting to be left behind again. “I just mean… I can wait. I think Virgil should have the chance to go first, because he’s been practicing longer.”
Virgil cringed. He knew Patton was trying to be nice to him, but now it felt like there was all this added pressure to perform well after practicing for so long.
Logan and Roman shared an anxious glance.
“Very well… Virgil, do you feel you are adequately prepared?” Logan asked, sounding more hesitant.
Virgil tensed, feeling a bit angry at Logan’s hesitation. It was one thing for Virgil to doubt himself, but it was another for his brothers to already assume he’ll be a failure. “I’ll be fine.” Virgil spat, more snippy than usual.
“Of course you will.” Roman hastily reassured him. “Because there is absolutely nothing that could possibly go wrong and no humans will interfere-”
Logan was quick to elbow Roman in the gut. Virgil was grateful for that, but the damage was done. Already his mind was unhelpfully supplying all the ways it could go wrong. Virgil hadn’t been in the same room as a human since his…incident. The practice sessions with everyone always took place in public spaces at night when no humans were present. This would be real.
“Virgil, are you okay?” Patton asked cautiously.
“I said i’m fine.” Virgil muttered quietly.
“Well…you look pretty pale.” Patton whispered.
“Virgil, I assure you we have scouted ahead and found a suitable target with minimal risk.” Logan explained, holding out a map. “We need you to understand that despite what you may internally feel, you will not be in immediate danger. Stick to your lessons, keep calm, and you will be fine.”
“Virgil.” Roman came forwards, kneeling to put his hands on Virgil’s shoulders. “We wouldn’t let you go out if you weren’t ready. If you have any doubt you can stay here, or turn back, but everyone here has seen the way you slink around like the creepy shadow you are.”
Virgil gave a snort at that imagery. “Glad my aesthetic is working.” He joked.
“Do you feel prepared?” Logan asked, holding out the map. Patton was already rushing to his feet to get Virgil’s borrowing bag.
“I…” No, Virgil didn’t feel prepared. But he was beginning to think he’d never feel prepared; it just wasn’t in his blood. If Virgil had no trust in himself, he had to trust in his brothers.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Virgil shrugged, standing to grab the materials held out to him.

Why don’t you guys just ask Patton if he feels ready to go borrowing on his own?
“Alright.” Logan cleared his throat, trying to gain everyone’s attention. “If you could all please gather here, there is an announcement that must be made.”
Virgil raised an eyebrow, glancing at the small semi-circle already sitting in front of Logan. Their living space wasn’t exactly large. “Logan, you have our attention.”
“Ah, yes.” Logan put his arms behind his back, sending a glance to Roman who was almost pouting next to him, a sour expression on his features. “Roman and I believe both of you have performed adequately in your training.”
“Thanks, it’s like I’ve done this before.” Virgil joked, knowing full well that his first attempts at borrowing were a chaotic disaster. He shuddered a bit in memory.
Patton was practically beaming with pride, squirming eagerly in his seat. “So...does that mean we’re ready?”
“Not quite.” Logan explained. “We believe a test is in order to prove yourselves worthy to go out on your own. An examination, if you will.”
“Test and examination are the same thing.” Roman huffed. “We get it, you know big words.”
“Wait...alone?” Virgil seemed to tense slightly. “I thought with all four of us borrowing, we’d just go in pairs. Safety in numbers and all that.”
Logan and Roman shared a glance. “Ah, no Virgil.” Logan corrected gently, carefully gauging Virgil’s reaction. “While that can certainly be the case some of the time, there are tasks besides borrowing that need to be completed. Besides, it is vital that you each hone your individual assets because even when working as a team there will be instances when you are alone.”
“Patton?” Roman asked, gauging the youngest’s reaction to this news. “Do you think you’re ready for that sort of thing?”
Patton had gone more still then before, his eager squirming turning to a small nervous shift. “Um...”
“No way!” Virgil protested. “We can’t send Patton out on his own!”
“And why is that?” Logan prompted.
“Because...” Virgil floundered for a reason. “Because he’s Patton!”
“I am well aware who he is.” Logan assured his brother. “But Patton is well past borrowing age, and has performed phenomenally in the practice group sessions. We believe he is capable of this.” Roman hid his disagreement well. “Just because you were delayed by fear does not mean Patton possesses the same disabilities.”
Virgil flinched back as though struck. That one hurt, even if it was true and Logan could have worded it kinder. Well, maybe he couldn’t; kind words had never been Logan’s strong suit.
“Patton?” Roman asked again. “Still waiting on an answer there, kiddo. We were thinking it might be best for you to go; after all, Virgil has already had a chance. Only fair you get your first one before he gets a second.”
Patton glanced to the side, at the way Virgil was now hunched over. He felt bad, watching his brother get so depressed like this. Would Virgil be mad at him if he took the first trial? Patton didn’t want Virgil to feel like he was being passed, or that Patton was somehow better than him. Patton knew he was bad at lots of things that Virgil was great at, like telling people what he actually thought. Virgil was strong, Virgil was brave, and Virgil deserved a second chance.
“Actually...” Patton did his best to appear nervous, pulling on the hem of his shirt. “Is it okay if Virgil goes first?”
