Hit The Stage - Chapter 3

LISA’s POv                     

  I won’t go into much detail here. But I will tell you that the episode 1 of Hit The Stage Season 2 will surprise its previous audience with its twist. I am getting excited just thinking about what they briefed us a week ago in the MNET conference.

                I entered the practice room of the YG building and saw Rose, Jennie and Jisoo there.

                “Nallalisa~~” greeted Jisoo

                “Unnie~~ will you come with me next week in the MNET? We are going to shoot the first episode of the contest.” I asked them sweetly.

                “There’s no need to ask us. We are already doing a banner with your name on it.” Rose replied.

                “Wahhh~~ isn’t that embarrassing?” I asked.

                “Heol~~ are you embarrassed of us?” Jennie puffed.

                “No Unnie~~ I appreciate it.”

                “Show us some aegyo first.” Jisoo nudged me.

                “Kyaaaaa~~~” I tried so hard to act cute.

                “Aigooo~~ our maknae doing her best.”

                “By the way, what time will Momo go here? Or are you going to practice to their studio?” Jisoo asked.

                Yes. You heard that right. Momo from Twice.

                 That was the big twist of the very first episode of Hit The Stage season 2. Instead of joining the usual crews, the 10 contestants will be partner amongst the other contestant. The picking of partner was actually done by the PD’s of the shows. So it was me and Momo who will be partners.

                 “I already asked Sajangnim Yang if we can use our studio to practice our routine. Momo texted me that their studio will be used by Yugyeom~ssi” I answered Jisoo’s question.

                 “Who will choreograph your performance?” Jennie wondered.

                  I smiled mysteriously. But Momo said she contacted some of the JYP crew to help us with the theme we chose. It is still a secret I kept from my unnies. But Momo and I have been discussing it over SNS.

                 *Brrr* *Brrr*

                  I picked up my phone and checked who sent me a message. It was Momo. She said she’s already in front of our building.

                  “Unnie~~ let’s greet Momo.”

                  The four of us hurriedly went down the building and true to her text, Momo is just getting out of their service and she’s with Nayeon. NAyeon is really close with Jisoo and Jennie so the three greeted each other. Rose and I went to Momo’s side and greet her. We led them to our practice studio.

                  “So this is the infamous YG dance studio.” Momo said amazed. “Oh. By the way, you need to see this” Momo motioned for me to come near her.

                  She showed me her phone that is playing a video.

                  “Ten and Yugyeom were practicing in our building and I sneak a peek at what they will do.” Momo is grinning from ear to ear.

                  That’s also right. Ten and Yugyeom are partners in the first episode of Hit The Stage.

                   I focused on watching the video that Momo was showing me. It was Ten and Yugyeom’s back that I saw. They were already in sweat and so focused on dancing that for a minute they didn’t see the peeking Momo.

                  “Yaaaaa~~!!!!” It was Yugyeom. He finally noticed Momo in the doorway.

                   I heard Momo giggling in the video before it got cut-off.

                  “That was their dance? They were already practicing?” I asked Momo, panic rising in my voice.

                   We are so behind them then.

                  “Don’t worry. We can do this.” Momo’s words of encouragement gave me hope.

                   “Alright, let’s start” the coach that was with Momo said.

                   Here we go.

                The practice went for almost four hours that first day. The choreography was already made when we started. We changed a little bit of it and put a b-boy freeze move in the climax of the routine.

                “Thank you for your hard work.” Momo and I said at the same time as we agreed it is time to rest for the day.

               “See you tomorrow.” Momo said because we both don’t have a schedule tomorrow.

               We walked with them and said our goodbyes.

              “That practice was intense!” Rose commented.

              “My body is sore.” I groaned.

              “You should rest a little before taking a bath.” Jisoo said.

               I nodded. Im actually too tired to talk. I checked my phone and frowned a little because there were 2 miss calls from Baby. And 3 messages from unknown number.

              I dialed her number and the call got picked up immediately

             “Yo Pranpriya!” Baby greeted me.

             I cringed upon remembering my real name.

             “What’s up?” I asked.

            “Oh yes. My brother was asking for your number awhile ago. I wanted to ask for your permission so I tried calling you. But you didn’t answer. I know you are busy nowadays, so I just gave him your number without your permission. Bye!” Baby hanged up before I could even answer.

            What in the world just happened?=============================================================

Lisa's POV

What was that? I wonder what Bambam needs from me.

I ignored the 3 messages from the unknown number and send a message to Baby

​I then checked the messages from the unkown number which i suspect came from Bambam. And my guess was right. The first message was a greeting. The second and third were cute emojis.

Before i could even form a reply for that, i find my eyelids closing. And yes, i didn't get a chance to take a bath.

Hit the Stage - Chapter 2

Lisa’s POV

                A week from now they said.

                I have been staring blankly at my phone’s calendar. I am sitting at the waiting room of MNET with our manager.  Rose, Jennie and Jisoo cannot come with me at the moment as they were practicing our new choreography made by Kyle Hanagimi-ssi.

                This is THE week from now. Now being last week.

                Oh my god. What am I doing here?

                Can I actually do this?

                We just debuted a few months ago.

                What do I do? I’m not even fluent at Korean speaking. Can I make friends with other idols here? How can I approach them? I am terribly shy when I am on my own.

                Unnies~~ come save me.

                I can feel the panic rising in my chest.

                I gotta pee.

                I asked our manager where the comfort room is. God knows I need to comfort myself.

                As I was about to leave the waiting room, I spotted a cameraman. He is most likely covering another idol joining the contest. I halted at the front door and was carefully peeking at the idol.

                “Annyeong~~ My name is Ten from NCT. It’s good to be back in Hit The Stage Season 2. Thank you for inviting me again” I heard the idol.

                So it is Ten. I have binge-watched the season 1 of Hit The Stage ever since the president told me that I would be joining the season 2. Ten is an incredible dancer based on what I’ve watched. I tried to steal a glance at Ten but nervously revert back in the room when I heard someone greeted Ten.                 “Ten~hyung!”

                “Bambam~ssi, Yugyeom~ssi. It’s nice to see you here. I take it you would be joining the season 2 as well?” that was Ten.

                “Yes. Let’s have a very healthy competition hyung” must be Yugyeom since I know he joined season 1 as well.

                “So who do you think is a better dancer among you two?”

                “Aish, Bambam~ah, you can’t ask us that.” Whined Yugyeom.

                “Yes, how can you ask us that?” chuckled Ten.

                I know who Bambam is. We used to be in the same dance crew when we were little and I am friends with his sister. We were close back then but we lost contact after we both arrive in Korea.

                I strained my neck a little bit to steal a glance at the trio when the cameraman spotted me.

                I nervously greeted the same cameraman that was covering Ten, Bambam and Yugyeom.

                “Oy~ Lisa~ssi!!” that was Bambam greeting me inforamally by an ‘Oy’ then revert back to being formal by using ssi. Talk about randomness.

                I introduce myself to the trio.

                “Annyeong~ I am Lisa from Blackpink. I have been invited as well in Hit The Stage Season 2. It was nice to meet you.” I bowed to them.

                “So Lisa~ssi, who do you think is a better dancer among you three?” that is still Bambam.

                “Stop that Bambam~ah!” still Yugyeom.

                “So how do you feel about joining the show?” the camera asked me.

                “I feel so nervous and excited at the same time” I smiled shyly at the camera.

                “Don’t worry, Yugyeom and Ten~hyung will take care of you” Bambam interjected and smiles at the camera.

                “Thank you, then. I am in you care” I bowed again

                I have no idea on what to say next.

                “Were you on your way out? Where do you need to go?” Yugyeom asked.

                “Actually, I need to go to the errr~~ comfort room” I can feel myself blusing at that. I don’t know why. It feels a little personal to me.

                “Oh, don’t let us hold you then.” Ten said.

                I greeted them one last time and I was off running down the halls praying that I didn’t mess up my first impression.

Hit The Stage - Chapter 1

Lisa’s POV

                The four of us are currently sitting in CEO Yang Hyun-suk’s office. I can’t help but be nervous. We don’t normally get called in the president’s office unless it’s an urgent matter.

                I looked at Rose who sat beside me and I can see she’s nervous as well, she keeps fiddling at her practice t-shirt and I saw Jennie-unnie biting her lower lip.

                “Did we do something? I watched our latest performance in Inkigayo and I’m sure we did well on that.” Jisoo whispered beside Jennie.

                “I’m sure it has something to do with my impersonation of him in weekly idol” I groaned.

                “Then why are we also here?” asked Rose.

                Before Jennie could answer, CEO Yang entered the room and we immediately stand up and greeted him with a bow.

                He motioned for us to sit and he leaned on his table (not bothering to sit on his reclining chair behind that)

                “Are you all wondering why you are called here?” he asked.

                “Is it because of our impersonation of you on weekly idol?” Jennie blurted out nervously

                The president chuckled. “No, those impersonations are good ones.” He paused. “Although it might be related to that.”

                I can sense all four of us stiffened.

                “There have been reports that the artists under YG Entertainment don’t get enough idol experiences. And by idol experiences they meant joining several of variety shows. Which gives me this predicament: maybe I should reconsider sending my artists to a lot of variety shows.”

                A moment of silence has passed on for a long period. Or maybe it was just seconds.

                “Lisa.” The president called my attention. He must have seen the blank stare I was giving his collector items displayed at his office.

                “Hit the Stage is doing a second season. We have been invited at that one. I am thinking of sending you there. Do you think you can handle the competition there as well as promoting your third mini album?”

                Oh my f~cking god.

                Everyone knows Hit The Stage is like a prestigious contest among K-pop idols

                Rose nudged me because apparently I’ve been staring at the president with my mouth slightly opened.

                “I-it would be an honor to be representing YG Entertainment there.” I stammered. I can’t believe he is trusting me enough by sending me on a solo mission.

                “Great. A week from now, there would be conference with the contestants of the said show. You can also go with Lisa to support her” the president said to Rose, Jennie and Jisoo

                “With that being said, sure Lisa is the first to join a variety show as a solo. But that doesn’t mean she will be the only one doing a solo variety show. Immortal songs will be renewed in three months and I am currently sending one of our representatives there to confirm our attendance.”

                  A week from now? Who are the other contestants? What crew do I join? I am excited!

Yang Hyun-suk’s POV

                Hmm. The stock price of our company is currently going down compared to the past five years in the industry.

               I read a lot of articles that fans don’t like the exclusiveness of my artists anymore. Maybe I should try another strategy to my newest artists.

               Desperate times call for desperate measures.

YG ARTISTS DON'T HAVE ENOUGH VARIETY SHOWS?

This is a different era for YG Entertainment. 

The first one to go to a variety show is Lisa.
