Emperor Belos x Steve Fake Dating Au Belos, being the evil bastard that he is, decides to start dating Steve as a joke because he thought he could get a few good laughs out of messing with Steve for like a week or so. Steve however takes this very seriously, and within the first few days he asks Belos out on a date. Belos agrees, just to see what kind of pathetic attempt this fool would have in store. Much to Belos’ surprise, he actually has a pretty fun time going with Steve to a bookstore/cafe and having a cup of coffee while Steve reads out his very earnest but god awful poem that he wrote for Belos, and he has such a good laugh. So, Belos decides to keep up the charade longer, and goes on more dates with Steve just for fun. He gets to watch Steve put on a one man performance of Hamlet (which he enjoyed even if Steve almost drowned in a stream), Steve ends up blowing away an entire month’s worth of wages reserving an entire restaurant so Belos can eat in peace even though Belos 1) Doesn’t need to eat and 2) Can shapeshift so not wearing a mask isn’t a problem, and several more. Belos keeps going on these dates because they’re fun, and he genuinely enjoys Steve’s company to the point that he looks forwards to these ridiculous little excursions. Then a few months down the line, Belos realizes that this isn’t ironic anymore. One night when he was on a romantic candlelit dinner that Steve made himself it hits him all at once, “Holy fucking shit?” “Steve you clever bastard, how did you do it?” “Well I use a lot of garlic and pepper-” “No, this.” Belos gestures to himself and sighs. “You know the, the me being fond bit. I don’t like people, and yet I enjoy your company.” Steve blinks and adjusts his mask. “Well Sir, I just treat you how I’d like to be treated and try to pay attention to what you like? That’s my guess anyways, you know yourself better than I do.” “…You don’t have to call me sir.” The Emperor says softly. And then Belos’ eyes widen and he curses. “Blast it! How did you do that?” “Do what?” To be fair, Belos should have put two and two together when they were kissing “Ironically” but you know. The bastard isn’t used to having friends, let alone dating anyone. Basically: The ultimate hype man manages to win the heart of his evil emperor through his endless enthusiasm and earnest affection, much to everyone’s bafflement. And the two of them keep outdoing each other in how ridiculous they are.
