Amber looked at the woman Alina spoke of and nodded slowly. Maybe it was because she was a simple half breed that it was more difficult for her. That thought caused her to lose her smile for the slightest second before it returned. "Well you must just have better detection skills than I do.", Amber said with humor in her tone. Then she heard the question leave the others lips and gave a small laugh. "I was aiming to be a saint, but looks like I am once again a sinner.", the raven haired girl responded before questioning with a raised eyebrow. "What about you?"

"I’ve had my share of masquerades, you could say." There was a given shrug before she pointed to someone in front of them who was dancing with a male Alina didn’t recognize. "Speak for yourself - that’s Crystal. It’s easier to identify the species adnd go from there. Besides, that woman has never worn anything stronger than a light lavender in her entire life, so it would make sense her perfume is a light flowery one. Match it to the hair, and it’s obvious." She shrugged. Not everyone was so easy, and Amber was right - the perfumes made it harder. "Are you the sinner tonight, I wonder?"

Amber heard the others question and felt her shoulders slump down slightly. Over the years she had mastered the act of appearing to be innocent, but it seemed like she couldn't play the part of obedient daughter who loved going to silly events. Well it would have to be enough that she should up at the masquerade ball. Maybe by end of the night the party would turn out to be fun.
"Not really my father forced me to. Looks like you don't want to be here too. Glad to know I'm not alone." Amber responded her eyes turning back to the people dancing around. They all seem to being wearing a smile or smirk on their lips. Maybe the other's words were right, masquerades could be fun if you had someone to have fun with that is.
"I think it is a little harder to smell with all the perfume and cologne that everyone wears.", Amber crinkled her nose slightly as she mentioned it. Even from the corner she could smell the different smells worn by all the others in the room. "Maybe it's just me though.", she said shrugged in response.
In the evening I've got to roam || Amber & Alina
Alina had been to her fair share of balls in her time - including masquerade ones - and she honestly use to get excited to go to them. Back in Russia, her grandfather would give her the money for a new dress and mask sometimes, and she’d always be able to find the most beautiful dress, while bringing change back to him. That was before her daughter and Mate had been killed; long before. In fact, her brother had pushed her out the door to come here, even though she saw no point in it. After all, this room was full of supernatural creatures who could smell who was who. And even if that weren’t the case, her height and bright blue eyes would give her away to anyone who had been close enough to remember.
The music wasn’t terrible, however, and she recognized some of it, and hated that she found herself actually enjoying her surroundings. Just watching everyone dance and enjoy themselves, she noticed how some wore figure fitting long dresses, which were beautiful, no doubt, and suited the wearers perfectly. Her dress, however modern, almost felt like the dresses she was accustomed to wearing growing up; long dresses that came out at the waist. Mostly, she watched her older brother and younger sister dance and have fun - Alina wasn’t opposed to fun, but dancing with somebody who wasn’t Nikolai seemed wrong, despite him being dead for almost a hundred years.
She was startled when another voice spoke to her, but gave a small smile and polite nod back. The woman was familiar, yet it took several moments before she recognized her, not that she couldn’t of been wrong. “You don’t want to be here, either?” There weren’t many people on the sides, and those that were seemed to be happily socializing. “Masquerades can be fun, you know - if someone doesn’t recognize your scent first, that is.”

In the evening I've got to roam || Open
Amber had arrived on time to the large ball like instructed by her father. If the raven haired girl had her way she would be at home in her comfortable clothes, not in the long red dress she currently was wearing. Sure Amber loved dressing up like most girls, but that was when she was going out somewhere fun with people she was friends with. She certainly didn't like going to some dumb party by herself. Still she went to the event instead of seeking her father's wrath. So the thief would play the role of polite daughter for a night. At least she got to dress up and feel pretty for a night
Walking in she saw others wearing masks similar to her own. In a way it brought her  some joy being behind the black mask, it gave a slight screen over her face so others didn't recognize her and stare at her because she was a Dhampir. The ones who looked were merely admiring her dress. Amber was proud of the dress she had picked loving the way it hugged her body and went with her skin. So the attention she got was welcomed easily by the woman. Pride filled her and showed through her smile as she made her way across the room to a corner her long black curls bouncing with every step she took.
The pale skinned girl stood in the corner looking around the room with her right eyes at all the others around her. Amber's began to think about her friends and brothers wondering where they all could be. Though for all she knew they could be closer than she thought simply hidden behind their own masks. Amber was brought out of her thoughts as she felt the presence of another near her and she turned to look at the other. "Hello there.", she said trying to muster a polite voice like her father instructed her to use.

Amber wandered around the town streets trying to find something to do when she began to hear shouting. In hopes to find some form of amusement she went to the sound. Before her eyes she saw the man tossing down the phone and she felt her eyes widen. Her phone was like her baby, she couldn't possibly through it on concrete; no matter how angry she got. Walking over she raised an eyebrow at him and questioned, "Sounds like someone is severely pissed off. What happened?" The question was more for her own curiosity than anything else.
Tumblr media
What do you mean I can't order 500 teacups!?
Tumblr media
"I- did you just hang up on me!?" Nikolai threw the phone down in distaste, grumpily.  "Well that was just rude…" he muttered to himself, suddenly looking up and realizing he had been shouting in the middle of the street.  He shifted awkwardly, hoping no one had overheard him.

Amber looked over the vampire before her for a moment. Even though she had never had a proper conversation with the woman she still knew who she was. It was hard not to seeing as most people talked about how well she did her job. It brought her some relief that she had asked her and not a human. With a smile on her face she spoke, "Thanks. Though I'm not really running late more like trying to manage my time I guess." Looking around the street she figured she had plenty of time to kill. "So what are you doing out here? Any where you are headed?" she questioned.

Time goes on || Open
The street lights flickered as Amber walked down the sidewalk. The day had been long and tiring. Thankfully she remember tomorrow would be Friday. A smile spread on her lips and then it occurred to her she didn't know what time it was. Reaching into her pocket she felt around, but found no phone. An annoyed sigh came from her lips as she looked around for someone to ask what time it was. Seeing someone who looked at least approachable she went over. Lightly she tapped someone on the their shoulder before she spoke. "Hey do you have the time?"

Amber took a long sip of the coffee listening to her and nodded. She was glad someone understood that if she wanted Scott to know he would have. A small humored smirk crept onto her lips as she spoke. "Hey I don't think it's degrading. If you are dumb enough to not know I stole from you, then that is their own fault." she paused for a moment thinking about how the werewolf said misplaced. Where else could she use the skills she had grown so comfortable using over the years. "I don't think they are misplaced. I think if I have a light touch I should use it."
Tumblr media
The smile faded from her lips slowly as she listened to Maxine tell the story from her past. In all honesty she could completely see the girl taking on any appointment who came at her, even from a young age. Still her questions caused the young Dhampir to think. Had it all been for attention? Her words came directly from her brain, not bothering to filter. "I don't think I want his attention... The man isn't anyone I would really talk with unless I have to. Still I guess seeing as I am a Dhampir there has been this void.." Quickly Amber shut her lips feeling that she had gone to far. Her bright eyes looked down at her feet and she brought the coffee to her lips again.
An Actual Good Monday || Amber & Max
"Don’t thank me - you’re a big girl, and there’s no need to go running to your brother. If you wanted him to know or his help getting out of what you were doing, you would have told him, or would have let hi find out by now." She didn’t care enough to go tattling on the girl, anyways. But she did care enough about what happened to her. “Your skills, though I believe are misplaced, are still impressive. But you’re not working for it. Do not fool yourself into thinking petty theft or any kind of theft is anything but degrading.”
Tumblr media
Maxine looked beside to the the raven haired young woman beside her with a small frown at first. “When I was..honestly, it had to be nine. I started getting into fights. Pack members, and girls and boys alike around town - which in the fifteen hundreds was deeply frowned upon for a young lady. My father had my mother training me for a position in a Pack I didn’t want and it was my way to prove to him I was worth his training to be an Alpha. But I got his attention, and after a few years, the useless fights stopped and I began training by his side. I had to earn being an Alpha, but he’d train me to be one for when the time came. I acted out for attention, the same way I found Samantha did when she was but a toddler. Do you think, perhaps, you started it to get the attention of your father? And when you didn’t get it, you just continued?”

Amber raised an eyebrow, but did not protest to walking with the werewolf. It might be nice and it's not like she really had anywhere to be. As she walked she sent Scott a simple text allowing him to know she was going to be out for a while and not to worry about her. She smiled at her phone seeing his return text telling her to stay out of trouble. If only the man knew. The Dhampir turned hearing the words and felt relived she wasn't going to tell her brother. "Thank you." she said simply giving a smile.
Tumblr media
Thinking about it Amber looked up at the sky. "Well I don't think I'm not working for my money." she said giving a small shrug. In her eyes stealing was a job and she was her own boss. Her mind began to wonder why she had started stealing. "Well I'm not sure." she told her honestly. "I just started one day and it kinda stuck. Plus I suck at keeping jobs so it's the best way to get money."
An Actual Good Monday || Amber & Max
"Don’t look so damn surprised - I’m almost five hundred years old, and have been here since before you were born. You hear things in town if you listen long enough." She smiled, knowing the young woman was not stupid enough to even try to steal from her - not to mention, she just gave her a twenty without expecting change. She waited, doing nothing but observing the people around her, and pushing herself off the wall when Amber came back out. "We walk."
Tumblr media
She started towards the paths she was shown that were perfect for running free as a wolf, but she supposed they were god for just walking, too. “You won’t hear from me to stop stealing from others, although I think it’s pathetic to take money you haven’t earned or worked for. And I don’t care enough to bother threatening to tell your brother. But I am curious - why did you start?”

Air filled her lungs and Amber continued to make sure she was able to breathe. Still her eyes watched the woman making sure she wouldn't come at her again. Hearing her words brought a surprised look on her face. Was she losing her touch? First the stupid human found out and now Maxine. Though she gave a mental shrug seeing as the werewolf was older than her by many years and probably picked it up earlier. Amber never had stolen from the woman, seeing as she was a personal trainer and could probably break Amber in half. The Dhampir was daring, not dumb. "I promise not to." she said sincerity in her voice. She didn't plan on stealing from her, seeing as explaining a injury she would surely receive would be hard to explain to Scott. "I will be right back." she stated as she turned to follow instructions.
Tumblr media
Entering the coffee shop she gathered a few napkins whipping away at her top trying to rid some of the coffee. Standing there she was surrounded by many others and decided that even if she wasn't willing to steal from Maxine she should still get some money. As always she found a target and gracefully took their wallet. After she retrieved the money she put the wallet back and walked up to the counter to order her drink. The woman wasn't in there more than five minutes before she exited to meet the werewolf. Her spoils where tucked in her back pocket along with the change from the coffee. "Alright all done. So now what?" she questioned taking a sip of the coffee.
An Actual Good Monday || Amber & Max
Maxine watched as Amber began to try to catch her breath, removing her plaid shirt, revealing a black tanktop. “This shirt is new.” She frowned at her as she now paid closer attention to the young woman to make sure she really was okay, even if her face didn’t show it. She watched Amber over the years - no mother, a father she’d personally enjoy killing, and no one but her brother there for her. Her activities, though less than amusing to Maxine, were rather impressive where her skill was concerned. But she never dared cut in, having Samantha to raise as it was. Everyone who could, remembered the hot headed wolf with a seemingly cold heart, bring a scared six year old girl back into town with her one day, seventeen years ago - not that anyone questioned it.
Tumblr media
"You’ll have more to be sorry for if you attempt one of your..skills, on me. Do we understand each other, Amber?" Somebody had to start cracking down hard on this girl before she got herself killed. And had Maxine not watched her grow up, she’d be on the ground right now with a broken wrist. Maxine handed Amber a twenty when the entered the shop. "Get your coffee and meet me outside - I can’t stand the smell. And you can keep the change." She left the shop, scrunching her nose to try and rid of the stench that was coffee, waiting for Amber to return. She was going to take her for a walk. She didn’t expect her to stop pick pocketing, so she wouldn’t ask. But she had always been curious as to what went through the woman’s head, growing up as she had.

maxine-matthews:
Already that morning, Maxine had had a client, so she was up early, made a somewhat decent breakfast for herself and Samantha (cinnamon french toast with strawberries and a glass of orange juice on the side), trained with her client for two hours, showered, and now was on her way to the paths Caleb had shown her, hoping to go lay in the sun as a Werewolf for a bit until her afternoon clients. What she wasn’t expecting, however, was to be bumped into by Amber Lancaster.
Tumblr media
Maxine had been in this town when the other woman was born, and she had been around the same age as Samantha. The second hot coffee spilled all over her, Maxine’s fangs became very much visible and a hand wrapped around Ambers’s neck, pushing her hard into the wall. “You are extremely lucky I have watched you grow up, Miss Lancaster.” Growling at the woman, she let her go - to Max, Amber had been just another Samantha to someone; she watched her grow up and couldn’t intentionally hurt her. That didn’t stop her from pushing the girl in direction of the coffee shop. “I’m going to buy you a fresh coffee, and you’re going to come up with a way to make it up to me.”
Amber felt the fingers of the woman curl around her neck and she felt the blood drain from her face. Then before she could react she felt her back meet the surface of the wall. Her eyes looked into the others face trying to see a way to get out of this and saw none. A werewolf was clearly stronger than her and she feared what might happen next. The words from the others lips brought hope to the girl and relief when the werewolf's fingers released her. Immediately her hands reached up to her throat making sure it was still all there and air began to fill her lungs again.
Tumblr media
Taking in a deep breath she attempted to get get words out, but they seemed to get caught in her throat. After a large gulp she felt like her throat feel some relief. Seeing no need to protest she nodded her head, "Alright. Y-You got it Maxine." she said hearing a slight crack in her voice. It seemed like the girl always got in some kind of trouble. "I am sorry for bumping into you." she said more quietly.

An actual good Monday || Open
All in all Amber seemed to be having a good Monday. It was a weird thing to admit, but it was true. In the morning she had gotten to sleep for once, which was never an easy task with her brothers. Then she made herself a nice breakfast and went about her normal day of mischief. So as Amber walked along the town streets she wore a large smile on her lips and carried a large coffee in her hand.
Tumblr media
Her mind seemed to be wandering like it so often did and didn't notice she was head right in someones path until her body collided and her coffee spilled on both of their shirts. The money spent on her coffee was a waste in a matter of seconds. So much for a good Monday. Her eyes looked up to the person seeing who it was.

That's one opinion of them I guess... What are you then?

Humans are safer. Less likely to bite your or something. Then again I suppose I’d have some kind of bias for them since I’m mostly human myself.

A small laugh came from her lips as she saw Sky's reaction to the fact she had never left the small town she called home. In her mind there was no reason to leave the place. Everything she needed was there and until recently there had never been a human around to make her stomach twist in a knot. Still something about the vampire's words or voice, she wasn't sure which it was but it made her feel a slight doubt at her idea of never leaving. "My brothers are here and so are my friends." she paused thinking how to continue and she felt the need to be honest. "I guess I never had anyone tell me I should travel... Plus it could be nerve wracking going out there on my own, I would have no idea where to even start." Seeing the others eye roll she knew she had to come up with a plausible reason for her thinking. "I have met one and he isn't what I would call an honest man. I saw him steal from another person and then blamed me for it. The werewolf he was stealing from was not happy about it." There that seemed like a good enough thing to say. It was no where near the truth of what happened with the male, but it would due. Seeing the smile return to the vampire's lips made one form on her own. For the first time in a long time she felt important, like she was worth something. That was rare and she liked it, but something in her felt as if it wouldn't last. "That is an amazing. Thank you." she told the other.
Tumblr media
Sky breathed in through her nose just as Amber ran her hands through her hair; the smell of a half breed tended not to catch the vampire’s interest, but this Dhampir’s appearance was quite appealing to her, not that her scent differed from any other Dhampir. Her smiled continued to play gently across her lips, though her eyes flashed with an astonishment when Amber mentioned she had never left Valhallow. “Never at all?” Sky asked in disbelief, “But there is so much more out there for you to see, Amber. So much more!” She couldn’t keep herself from rolling her eyes, unable to fathom how anyone could stay here in Valhallow when they have yet to see the wonders of the rest of the world. “What have you seen that would lead you to make such a judgement?” Sky asked.
Tumblr media
Sky very much liked that Amber was showing a keenness, and a wonder, and it was perhaps what Sky thought was the most beautiful thing about the half breed. She nodded her head, smiling again. “The very first.”
