So I had to return a book to the library today and I came straight from the horse farm. I went to the front desk because it was an item on loan from another library and I wasn’t sure if it had to be checked in differently. The librarian said no, it could get returned in the normal slot but she could take it and check it in right away.

It was only when I got back to the car that I realized I had walked into the library covered in dirt from head to toe and handed back a book about grave robbing.

okay so as hilarious as the musk and trump "bite each other's dicks off" playground slapfest is, what i keep getting caught up in is news reporters and analysts keep saying the backlash against musk will be government contracts getting canceled and increased immigration scrutiny. and in all this reporting, no one bothers to point out how fucked up that is. don't get me wrong, I have no love for mr fake genius but leveraging the full power of the us government in a personal grudge is so incredibly fucked up. but also so commonplace that it's not even news anymore.

On women's bathing suits, which suck

Every time I see a new guide on the best women's swimsuits I get so excited. This is foolish because women's swimsuits are universally terrible, but somehow I always think this is going to be the time when someone tells me where to buy the swimsuit that I want from an array of swimsuits that I want. This has of course never happened, but I'm a chump, so I fall for it again and again.

Here is what I want: a swimsuit that makes swimming like it was when I was a kid. I want to be able to roll out of bed, pop on a suit, and run to the nearest body of water without having to think about bikini lines, bodies, etc. I want a suit that makes me free to have fun, not a suit that makes me look sexy, because I do not actually want to look sexy! I want to swim! And this is completely impossible for some reason!

Why would anyone want to maintain and prepare anything just to go enjoy a little dip in the pool? Who the fuck came up with that? Did you know that men's swim trunks are lined with mesh so any sand at the beach just drifts back into the water? So it doesn't get caught in your business end? And you have pockets! But of course the hips don't fit me since I stopped being a teenager so ugh.

Anyway, the answer, as always, is that trans and nonbinary people are the best people, so they make the only swimwear that doesn't suck. Thanks to all the trans people on reddit who have inadvertently helped me find Humankind, Beefcake Swimwear, and TomboyX. Wishing all trans and nonbinary people a great every goddamn thing you want, and the NYT can bite me.

Anyway, if anyone out there wants to share more great swimsuit options please, please do! I always want more! I am always angry about this!

Sometimes little pleasures in life are loadbearing. Whenever someone is like "If you'd just give up tea and coffee and sugar and--" im like I'll stop you right there. Because if you finish that sentence i am going to kill everyone in this building and then myself. If i have to face the horrors of the world without my little jar of caramel flavoured instant coffee i am going to go full American Psycho. Believe it or not, my main priority in life is not to have perfect teeth or be an Olympic athlete or look like a supermodel, but to actually enjoy living, because I spent far too long not doing that and it royally sucked. And boy, some people don't like hearing that. Particularly dentists

So my sister wants to start sewing more, because

a. She’s 5′ 11″ and can never find pants long enough for her legs or shirts long enough for her arms.

b. She hates synthetic fibers as much as I do and it’s difficult to find natural fiber clothes that aren’t made of cotton

c. She’s a biologist and would physically fistfight microplastics if given half a chance

So her gift from mom and dad for her birthday was a sewing machine. Not a super expensive one but a good solid serviceable one.

And recently she asked “So where do I GET wool or linen and thread that isn’t polyester” and mom was like ‘go ask your sister’

And I, of course, crashed into the group text like “GET A PEN I HAVE WEBSITES FOR U” and honestly I’m thrilled about this
