collaborative performance on a raft built by Rachel Higgins, August 08, 2019, Fire Island.
The raft, made to reference the boardwalks of Fire Island, was built over the course of our month-long residency on Fire Island and was constructed entirely from scraps of found lumber and parts from a wrecked dock washed ashore on the stretch of beach that exists between communities of Cherry Grove and the Pines. This free-floating boardwalk served as a stage, a platform for all the residents to share work together over the water. Amelia wrote the following text and performed a song.
