Sometimes I see posts about how having Alastor being in a relationship means its "taking away" his ace rep...and I swear I feel a little part of myself die of frustration.

Yall know that ace people (and yes aro people too) can find connection with someone that isnt based on sex, right? Yall know that we can agree to being in a relationship with someone with a romantic label because we care deeply for that person and it would make them happy, right? Yall know that we can even have sex and one night stands and get married and any other such things because while being aro/ace means we don't feel attraction, it doesnt mean we cant still enjoy those activities, right?

yall know that sexuality is fluid and that its not a one size fits all type of deal, right?

It's very easy to select the text of a fic and copy-paste it on Ao3, right?

Well, we can stop people (and AI) from doing this by adding a skin to our fics!

I just did it with all my fics and it works.

How to do it, step by step⬇️

1) Log in. Click 'Skins' in the menu, at the left. Then click 'My Work Skins' and after doing this, click 'Create Work Skins' at the top right.

2) Write a title for your skin (anything you want, it doesn't matter). Then in the large text box, write this:

user-select: none !important;

-webkit-user-select: none;

-moz-user-select: none;

-ms-user-select: none;

}

This is what you should see:

3) Click 'Submit'. Your skin has been created, and now you have to add it to all your works.

4) Click 'Works'. Then click 'Edit Works' at the top right.

5) Click 'All' to select all your works. Scroll down and click 'Edit'.

6) Scroll down until you see 'Select Work Skin' and select the one you just created.

7) Click 'Update All Works'.

Now, people can't select the text of your fics and copy it😊

PS: I also recommend changing the visibility of your fics to 'Only Show to Registered Users'. You'll lose your anon readers, but it will protect your works a bit more against AI scrappers

One of the reasons I have a hard time reading astarion smut is that you can't convince me spawn act3 would be a serious lover with dirty talk and whatever. That he'd do all the SmutFic.mp4 lines where if you Ctrl+f his name and replace it with another characters it would still make sense.

He'd be having fun. He'd be laughing. He'd be a goofball. We've all seen what love does to this bastard. It amps up his silliness. The man who says "Delicious!" in that way after a kiss. He spent such a long time saying all the perfect words and doing the perfect moves to min/max it all. No. The man is in love for the first time. He is going to have fun, he's going to be present, and he's not gonna rush any of it. Send tweet.

Assortment of Astarion headcanons I've posted over the months in one post:

(spawn default)

- Moon Elf.

- Used to have green eyes with gold flecks.

- Pre vampirism used to be on the same moral level as S1 Bobby Briggs. I will not elaborate. Twin Peaks good.

- Was forced into being a magistrate at a young age because he was a shithead. Was negligent as hell, didn't care about his job. Passed rulings without reading them. Let some of them be decided via coin toss. Was literally the worst. Imagine the Fist affected by the Hag's curse except unironically.

- Post campaign ends up having a stance of "my family already grieved me, so seeking them out won't do good."

- Can embroider and mend clothes, but isn't a tailor and can't make a garment from scratch. He will complain.

- Actually finds most paintings/art completely godawful. Has developed a distaste for fancy rich people decor after 200 years of Cazador's manor. Prefers his abode to be a crows nest filled with stolen trinkets. Many stolen from rich people. Look. It makes sense! It's fine if it's ironic decoration and he did a nasty deed to get it.

- Taste wise, prefers cheap wine over the really expensive shit. No one has the heart to tell him that the one he likes more is the cheap wine.

- The flavor text on his epilogue clothes (The leather is cheap and the decorations are painted on, but the garment is very well loved) sums a lot of him up.

- Prefers bows over daggers.

- The thing people with ADHD do with mugs except with jars of blood on his desk. You know what I mean. Put those mugs away.

Don't be afraid. to make. astarion. cringy. in fics.

He is a dork. He is a silly little freak who grants you 5+ approval if you let yourself be whipped by a priest. Also 5+ if you let him open the barn door. He hasn't had an extended conversation with a normal person in several years. He will ask completely unhinged questions and make puns. The smooth facade literally falls apart the instant he feels safe with someone.

Even when he doesn't feel safe, he believes that his pick up lines are great.
