Random blog post #5
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For my last random blog post I chose to show a picture of my mans and my best friends from High school. My Mans is cute af his name is Joe and he is the kindest person I have ever met in my life. I am so glad that he came into my life because life would be very different with out him (in a bad way.) He lives in Cleveland which is very sad because I live in Cincinnati. we live approx. 4 hours away from each other and this summer is going to be rough but it will end up being fine. I plan to come visit him once and he is going to come visit twice! Now moving to my friends Victoria (Vick) and Elena. Victoria is my roommate here and Elena was supposed to come and be our 3rd roommate but sadly she dropped last minute. But thankfully we will see her shortly when we go back home.

Blog Post #10
Can I first say Hoorayyy for this being the last blog post!!
Looking back on this semester I don’t think my writing has improved to much, but I really was not expecting it to. I mean I still feel a bit shaky in my writing but I guess with the practice I have had this semester it is a (little) better. I think I am most proud of our project #3 I really put a lot of work into this project. I even had to write a screen play (the script of the voice over.) I am also really proud of myself for learning to better stretch my writing to make word requirements. If I learned anything from this course that was the main thing. I feel like sometimes my writing doesn’t make much sense and I’m still not as confident in my writing as I would like to be so I could still improve on that. I guess my next step in my writing would be to keep practicing to get where I want to be. In my future I won’t necessarily need writing that much, what I have learned about writing at this point in my life should be enough to get me through the rest of my career. This class has helped me with organizational skills though. I have improved tons in that aspect!

This is a thread of the BEST shows on Netflix (in my opinion)!! PS. These are not in any order because I could not decide an order.
1.The Office- This show is great if you’re looking for a show to watch with some friends and just want a good laugh. The cast is amazing and Jim and Pam will guaranteed make you cry with their journey and relationship together.
2. Orange Is The New Black- This show provides an Inside look at a women’s correctional facility. A little corrupt and ran by the different races inside the jail.A definite add to your list. Everyone is obsessed with it.
3. Shameless- crazy, ghetto white family, none of them have their shit together. Hilarious but you can’t just jump into this show, you have to start from the beginning. (PS. Don’t do anything that Debbie does... ever)
4. That 70′s Show- If you don’t already know this show you have to be living under a rock. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis give me life in this show.A MUST WATCH. Also One of the main stars in this show is a main role in Orange Is the new Black as well, watch to find out who and the hidden meaning behind the title of the Netflix original above.
5. Disjointed- The title is a bit explanatory. It is so funny and Ruth the main character plays Bobby Bouches mom in The water boy! she is an amazing actress and can play many different types of roles.
6. The 100- Action packed, very suspenseful, sci-fi. You never know what is gonna happen next. Highly recommended.

Blog Post #9
I write because I have to mostly. I don’t write in my free time, I only write if it is for an assignment or a class. I’m not much of a creative writer either. In my acting classes we sometimes have to write a piece of text after we do a performance and I always struggle to find some creative way to explain what it was like. Everyone else in my class has these meaningful statements and I just feel a bit lost. The only kind of creative thing I do with literature is some blackout poetry occasionally. And that is not even my own writing its just composing other peoples writing into something new.
I don’t really know, if I had to pick if my writing was public or private, I guess my writing would be more private. I do not like to share my writing with people, it gives me anxiety to hear my words read out loud. I especially DO NOT like to read my own writing out loud. It is very weird because I can get up in front of people and act all day because it is other people material I am showing, but the second I try to give a speech or a paper written by myself I cant do it as well.
I think Orwell means to say that all writers have something that pushes them. They either have some underlying motive that makes them do it or makes them be lazy and vain. But somehow they push through and finish their work.

Blog Post #8
After reading and watching the Ted talk done by Tim Urban i already knew before but yes, I am a procrastinator. My brain is definitely more dominated by the “instant gratification monkey.” The instant gratification money in my head’s name is Bertha. The dark playground is a very real place in my brain. And often Bertha loves to go and swing or play on the monkey bars!! I am always at this playground because of her. The panic monster does also exist in my head. He makes sure I get all of my shit done, even though it may be hard.
I try my hardest to start things I need to have done early but often It doesn’t work out that well for me. Take my English papers for an example. I do every single Blog post and reading response the night before their due and sometimes I will even wake up early before class to finish them on the day they are due. It’s a problem, I’m aware but I just cant help myself. If I don’t want to do it then I find it very hard to find the motivation I need to finish it.
My procrastination has been a very stressful thing in my life, and since coming to college I find that I actually have more motivation to do things since I am on my own and have to “adult.” I do not think that I will ever outgrow my procrastination tendencies. It has been such a prominent thing in my life and I think if I ever were to stop doing this to my self my head might explode or something dramatic.

Random Blog Post #3
I’m gonna list a few of my favorite songs right now and why!! ( random order)
1. Runaway- Kanye West: the intro, the intro, the intro so good I have no words. This song is 9 mins long and every second of it is worth a listen. “let’s have a toast for the douche bags, let’s have a toast for the assholes, let’s have a toast for the scumbags, every one of them that I know.” He is known to be an asshole and a very talented one at that.
2.Wait -Maroon 5: So recently I’ve been on a Maroon 5 grind. In this pop song Adam Levine is talking about going to an ex lovers wedding and wanting her to “turn around” so they can “work this out.” It is very powerful and has an amazing beat.
3. Waves- Kanye West: THIS SONG IS AMAZING. Go listen to it right now if you haven’t. The harmonies will amaze you. Also Kanye himself is a lyrical genius. And a fun fact about this song you probably didn’t know, Chance the rapper wrote this song for Kanye to use and KAnye cut out about 60% of the harmonies that chance put in. If you want to listen to the actual version and how its supposed to sound it is on Soundcloud.(:
( Your welcome)^^^^
4.Wife you Up- Russ: In this slow vibe song Russ is talking about he realizes he should probably be “wifin this girl up.” I really love how he talks about their relationship and it creates a narrative.
5. Narcos- Migos: This song is on Migos new album Culture 2. Culture 2 wasn't exactly what I expected from them because culture was outrageously good and nothing can compare to it. Migos took a rather “Latin” vibe for this song and that’s why it is on my list. Takeoff is the best Migo and no one can tell me otherwise. There is also a couple Spanish words that they say in the background and I like that a lot!
6. PICK IT UP- Famous Dex, A$AP: one reason I like this song right now is mostly the best and second I loveeeeee A$AP Rocky. He is literally the hottest thing ever, and his voice is amazing.

Blog Post #7
After reading “Reading Games” by Karen Rosenberg I realized I don’t necessarily have any specific reading strategies that I use. Also in the couple of opening sentences I realized that I don’t think of reading in the same way that a lot of people do. I don’t really like to read at all unless I have to or if its a script. And it is not that I fear reading at all I just sometimes it’s an annoying task. I actually do struggle a bit with reading academic texts or scholarly texts because of the length. I find my self just skimming through the material and trying to find main parts, instead of actually reading all of the text. It’s a bad habit i have been working on.
When Rosenberg says “Joining/ entering the conversation” she is trying to say that any scholarly work or essay is a conversation. Writers do not just make this stuff up they look at things people have done in the past and look for comparisons and differences.
I don’t think these strategies will help me be a better writer or reader just because I don’t feel as if reading or writing is that important to me. Yes everyone needs to know how to read, and I do understand that. But I can read at a perfectly fine level right now and what I plan to do with my future I don’t need to read much at all, besides scripts for a play.

what makes a good presenter is when you feel the presenter is talking to each and every audience member. Eye contact, movement and really caring about your subject or material is what makes good presenters stand out from people that are not as good. Also some people are just natural born great speakers and that shows when its there. A bad presentation is when you can tell the person is stuttering and nervous. Also when they do not know a lot about what their talking about you can really tell and it shows throughout their speech.
To prepare for public speaking I always say my speech out loud a couple of times, then I try get as comfortable as I can with the material. Sometimes I like to watch speeches that other people have done on the same topics. It really helps me to record my speeches so I can hear parts where I need to slow down or emphasize. I really don’t have many anxieties when it comes to public speaking anymore because I have been performing and been up in front of people embarrassing myself my whole life, so my mentality now is ‘what’s the worst that could happen?’ I go into all my speeches with a confident and outgoing mindset. Because if you act like you know what you are talking about people will believe it!

Random blog post #2
Howdy everyone! for my second random blog post I'm gonna get a little emotional. I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio. I went to a decent sized high school about 1,200 kids. Anyway, I did theatre in high school and my freshman year I went out on a limb and auditioned for the musical Tarzan. I was terrified because it was gonna be a big show. Long story short I made it, and was casted as Jane Porter Tarzan's girlfriend (kinda.) Anyway I was a lead and had a huge role. It was a lot to put on a freshman. I had about 5 different costume changes one involving a skirt that was velcroed together. The skirt was worn in my very first scene and it fell off in the middle of me singing. I hurried around to a fake rock and played it off very well without completely freaking out before I got off the stage. Everyone noticed because I was the only one on the stage and it was just horrible. I finished the show and after I was a crying hysterical mess. My friend Wesley that played Tarzan saw that I was struggling to be okay and he made me go into the dressing room with him turn off all the lights and we laid on the floor in silence as this song played. This song has so much emotional value to me. Anytime I’m feeling stressed or sad I do that same thing. I lay on the floor with the lights off and blast this song. You should give it a try it’s very calming.

I think there are a lot of benefits to memes. They can brighten up your day and make you laugh, a lot of them are very funny. Many of my friends have told me their teachers use educational memes to keep students interested in class, you can relate them to your emotions and express how you are feeling, I have bonded with many people over memes they are a great way to start a conversation. It’s so easy to just bring up a meme and then you have a new friend! Memes are funny pictures with a clever saying attached or in some cases memes are just famous vines. Vines are 6 seconds videos that are extinct hopefully they will be back soon.     Memes change the way we communicate because many people I know embed memes in everyday conversations. Occasionally I will bring up one in conversation but some people have reactions that they programed in their heads to respond with a meme an example would be if someone says you look like someone you would respond with “no but they tell me I look like Shalissa.” I do believe memes have power especially political ones. They can change your opinion on things and your beliefs, since they are so popular they can reach a large amount of people very quickly because of the internet. Sometimes people can take memes in the wrong way. The way our society is today many people are very sensitive to everything and take things to heart. This is my favorite meme above<3 search it and watch the video if you've never seen it please(;

“Media Literacy is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media in a variety of forms.” definition by Google. Media literacy to me is understanding the different outlets of media and how to react to or interpret the information given, I actually took a media class last semester! I do consider myself to be very literate in media and the internet now. I was somewhat literate before I took the class but now I can comfortably say that I am a media literate person.
It is important to think like a “fact checker” because if you are constantly getting correct information about things in 60 to 90 seconds then you’re a reliable resource in and of yourself. Also it is a good thing to be sure of the information that you are learning because the last thing we need is more illiterate people spreading “fake news” which brings me to the problem with fake news.
Fact is that it’s a lie. Lies can travel very quickly like the writer is saying in the Speed Of a Lie part of this article. No one wants a lie going around about them. Although in the entertainment business people often say there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Fake news is also a big problem because it causes the public to become illiterate on what is actually going on in today's world. Take the shooting that just happened in Florida for example. I have not looked into it so i’m not going to sit around and talk like I know anything about it because I don’t. One example of helping not spread fake news!

8 things they don’t tell you when you get hired to work as an entertainer at an Amusement park
1. IT IS ALWAYS HOT- they don’t want you to know that you’re literally getting paid to sweat, and when I say sweat I mean SWEAT.. I have never sweated more in my life than I have in Kings Islands stage/ green rooms.
2. It’s a great resume builder- technically I am a professional dancer, and it is looked highly upon in a directors eyes.
3. You make long lasting friendships- I still talk to my coworkers because we spent a whole summer together, there’s no stronger bond than people you are forced to dance with in 90 degree weather!
4.You make good connections- we share auditions/ shows/ anything with each other. You meet high ups in the amusement park since you are representing them.
5. you have to act happy at all times- we constantly have to have a smile on our faces no matter what is going on. I have a great fake it performing face now.(:
6. You’re not really getting paid enough for what your job description is- I made minimum wage, I worked 9-5 and had a 25 minute show every hour and a 45 minute lunch break. In between each show we would have to re-touch our makeup since we were a sweaty mess and 2 of the shows were outside the others were in a (slightly) air conditioned building.
7. It is physically draining- I would get constant headaches from a mixture of exhaustion and dehydration because I couldn't keep myself hydrated in between shows.
8. Bad cafeteria food- Lunch break was only 45 minutes and the café food was soooooooo bad.
Thanks for reading!!!!

Blog Post #3
I don’t actually think I have a “go-to” writing process. Sometimes I am very motivated to write because I’ll have an interesting topic or in a writing type mood ( which sounds super weird but it actually happens to me.) But when I am not feeling motivated I am definitely a procrastinator. I literally sit down at my computer and force myself to type my papers one night before a paper is due. I do have anxiety about my writing. I get self conscious about my writing a lot of the time, I don't like to read my writing out loud or share my thoughts. It’s weird because I am in a public speaking class and I love public speaking but I hate sharing my writing so I struggle in that class, if I could read someone else’s speech I would perform much better. I don't use writing strategies unless I have to and it’s required from a teacher. If I had to change anything about my writing process it would be to not procrastinate till the very last day even though I have ample time to finish a project. It actually bothers me when I do it, I wish I didn’t but it’s just how I am. When I was younger I wouldn’t do it as much but know that I have more papers to write it has become a habit I just cannot break, and If I want to be successful in this class I need to change it.

Malcolm X’s process in learning to read definitely was special. Using a dictionary to learn how to read does not sound like my cup of tea. What I do not understand is how he could just read the dictionary for fun. I would never pick up a book that big and just start reading it. The text is all about Malcolm X being in prison, learning to read and discovering how amazing it was to basically be locked up and surrounded by writing. The overall purpose of this piece is to inform people that Prison is not just a place where you sit and rot but you can do some good for yourself. Also you can just about do anything as long as you try your hardest. I think the intended audience is anyone that knows anything about Malcolm X, or maybe even someone that is going to prison this could help them  out. Both of the pieces are about overcoming obstacles based on things they can’t control. Overall I really liked the Malcolm X piece he’s actually an interesting person and he is very insightful.

Blog Prompt #1
Hi I’m Adelina Miller and I’m a first year Theatre Major. I am from Cincinnati I dance, sing and act. When I’m at home I work at footlocker ( I am a gym shoe fanatic). My previous experience in English class has been good, I consider myself an average writer, nothing special. I have not taken any college level writing classes. My English teachers in high school were usually easy to please, I took honors English my junior year and I did pretty well. One strength I have in my writing is I typically imagine myself speaking everything that I write to an audience since I am an actor and a lot of the time that can help me spot my errors quickly. One weakness would be rushing my writing and once I think I have something good I don’t like to make drastic changes. I dislike when English classes give lame prompts and pointless passages to respond to. My expectation for this class is to become a better writer. I want to walk out of this semester and be confident in my writing for my future.
