I mean... of they can make Cats into a film, why not the Broadway edition of The Lion King???
I think one of the most creative things to come out of the mere existence of The Lion King is the Broadway show, something I’ve always wanted to see, but never had the fortune of being able to afford. It basically took what everyone considered a Black fairy tale, and put an explicit face to that belief.
I think if Disney was actually interested in doing something particularly inventive with the IP beyond slapping some photo-realism on its animal characters, I’d probably be more interested in a remake.
But, knowing they’re not, it’s the product itself has the misfortune of carrying fairly well-earned stigma, thanks to every endeavor that’s not The Jungle Book (a movie I felt actually benefited from its remake to a degree).

Fiyero really is Elphaba's hero.
Wizard: Elphaba, aren't you tired of running/fighting? Aren't you tired of being the strong one? Wouldn't you like someone to take care of you?
Fiyero, 5 minutes later: Shows up and takes care of Elphaba. Get's her away from the wizard. Leaves behind his comfortable, royal lifestyle to be with her. Gives her hugs and kisses in the forest. Lets her stay in his family's huge castle so she will be safe. Sacrifices himself for her to be tortured in a cornfield. Doesn't get mad when she turns him into a scarecrow to save his life. Comes back to Kiamo Ko to get her. Stays by her side as they leave Oz together and start a new life. All because he's shallow and selfish. Yero My Hero.

Its okay to cancel plans when you feel like you need more rest, or when you feel like you need to recharge yourself or simply when you don't feel like it and don't feel like you have enough energy for it. Some people might not understand and see it as rude, but you need to care for your mental health first. Don't put yourself in uncomfortable situations just because you feel like you're obligated to.
