Malfoy, Draco:

draco rolled his eyes at the other man’s dramatics, swirling his brandy around in the glass ( that clearly wasn’t cleaned as meticulously as it could have been. ) he places the glass in front of him, raising his eyebrows at harry but allowing him to continue, a smirk on his features. it’s a conversation they’ve had quite a few times since they started dating, but he knew that it was going to end with seeing harry’s potter’s flat. they had been to draco’s quite a few times since they had gotten together. “ i’ve already been disappointed by the state of your wardrobe & your choices in food. i can handle your flat. “ he speaks matter of factly, lifting his glass up once before eying the clear smudges & putting it back down. 

HE  NORMALLY  WOULD  COMMENT  on  how  nitpicky  he  was  being  with  the  glassware, take  the  mickey  out  of  him  a  little  bit  before  being  inevitably  told  to  shut  up.  except  that  harry  couldn’t  shake  the  remaining  anxieties  he  felt  over  this  continual  battle.  he  wasn’t  stupid,  he  knew  at  one  point  he’d  have  to  bite  the  bullet  &  take  him  home  (  so  to  speak  )  &  face  what  couldn’t  be  avoided.  he  could  deal  with  the  clothes  &  his  eating  habits.  he  occasional  comment  on  his  hair  ---  all  things  he  had  heard  before.  this  was  different.  it  was  symbolic, as  stupid  as  that  sounded  “  well,  perhaps  i’m  not  very  keen  to  be  disappointing  this  time.  ”

— I’m debating merging this multi over with my other one @storyweaved because that’s where I am more active rn but i worry about getting overwhelmed by everyone in one place & my followers getting annoyed by the wide amount of content not stricly related to the muses they follow for.  SO I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS RN.

Marla McGivers had always been an unusual child, the eldest of four sisters, she was often described with words such as Contrary, Opaque, & Cold, with a nasty temper. She wasn’t very into socialising with others. While other children ran about, laughing, crying, & playing; Marla struggled to see the point of it all & opted for other activities on her own. Often she could be found in her father’s study reading or practicing the violin. As eldest & partial heiress, Marla held a great amount of family responsibility on her shoulders. Her Aunt convinced her mother to give her & her sisters a classical education in addition to her normal school studies. Dabbling in various classic sport & hobby, & studying her family history. It was here when Marla first discovered her true passions, pouring herself into data file after data file. Marla felt a spark inside of her that she had yet to ever feel before as she unraveled the mysteries of the past & as each answer led to more questions. The present had always bored her, she had no mind for the gossip in town or the melodrama of those around her. Yet, the past with its truths shrouded — that made her feel alive. It gave her a sense of accomplishment & purpose. Her favourites quickly became the greats; fissure of power, people of might. Kings. Queens. Renegades. Generals. Warriors. Mythological Beings. Deeply flawed as she was constantly reminded by others to be. Overcoming adversity. Lives of action, a startling contrast to her mundane life. The illusion of power, something she felt without in her assigned life. She was hooked. She studied languages & history, dabbling into art as her obsessions grew. Graduating from Oxford University with honors; before her family began to dig their heels in. Settle down. Marry. Have a family. All of which felt excruciatingly dull. Marla had her research, ceaseless & never ending. Forgoing personal relationships in the pursuit of knowledge. It  was where she felt comfortable, the present & future were so uncertain. Yet to be determined. It unnerved her. History was comforting. No matter how bad it got, she knew how it would ultimately end.  Marla held no desire to give up the one thing that brought warmth to her otherwise uninterested life, so she promptly informed her family she was enlisting into Starfleet. Naturally, Marla presumed that she would be assigned to an archive or related post. A place where her job would be related strictly to the things she loved; however that wasn’t the case as she instead found herself assigned for active duty aboard a starship. This was how Marla McGivers reluctantly wound up serving the USS Enterprise. In truth, she had nobody to blame but herself. While her initial job working at the Academy Archive was more akin to her career goals, she found herself more assisting cadets than doing her own personal studies. Historian on a starship gave her the chance to be the master of her own work. She’d supply data on occasion; but the Enterprise was an explorer ship. Focused on the new frontier than the past. It seemed perfect, & minus the fact that she gets thrown out missions on occasion & sometimes has her work interrupted by the problem of the week — the Five Year Mission is set to be all she hoped. However, being in close quarters with large amounts of people, all of whom with personal ties to one another — for the first time Marla began to realise how alone she had made herself. She has tried on occasion to socialise, but her temperance & lack of interest at times makes it difficult. Marla wants to not be so isolated, but its proving to be quite a challenge. One she isn't sure she is equipped to beat.
