Daphne
Greyscale painting sculpture | Mixed Media

Front View

SIde View

Upper view
The conceptual painting ‘Daphne’ explores the unconsciousness of a girl’s anxiety and her vulnerability to protect herself from the threats coming from outside.
Imprisoned emotion is presented by the unique shape of matryoshka(Russian folk doll) and the fence of fingers sculpted around it.
Content is inspired from the Greek myth ‘Apollo and Daphne’. ‘Daphne’ the nymph wishes to become a tree to resist Apollo’s forced relationship.
Elements of tree roots and female figures wearing dresses symbolizes this protection instinct of oneself.
Monotonic hue is used to create the mood of depression, dull and confined emotions inspired from the old image of prisoner fashion.
H.R Giger is my art style model. His monochromic air brush painting and the fantastical composition of imagery of death influenced throughout my artwork.
Light strokes of oil paints layered for disappearing and fading image of human figures.
Plaster roll is used to sculpt the model of finger fence and painted over with acrylic.
Possible improvements could be made for the glues attaching the finger sculpt might be differed due to its unexpected gloss surface.

Icarus' Fall
Creative Concept Painting | Oil color
My creative piece introduces a character from the Greek myth 'Icarus' who fell from the sky with his fake wax wings because of his excessive desire to reach the sun.
Used the black background to show that he is getting far away from the light source. Flying hair from the fall, and the blue skin represents sadness and regret.
The improvements could have been made by using more oil because the painting looks a bit dry due to the lack of paints in some places. Maybe use a different canvas next.

Blue Lemonade and Cheesecake
Color Study | Watercolor

Cheesecake and lemonade, the reference is taken from the café I use to visit regularly.
A lovely hue of yellow and blue mixes well with reddish-brown sets the general tone of the painting comforting.
Improvements such as lowering a saturation little might be helpful. This is because the painting looks too vibrant and thick compared to the photo.

Distorted Reflection
Greyscale painting | Acrylics
Used hard-flat brushes to express the solid glass texture.
Interesting external sources such as lights and students also distorted by the water make the painting dynamic.
The composition is set to a low angle to show distortion more effectively.
Improvements can be made if the water looked realistically. The paints were too thick on the area.

The model photo was took in greyscale and edited to give a strong contrast and highlights. Which makes the painting process easier but also high in quality.
