Images from the interim. And this point in my practice I wasn’t overly pleased with the work I was making and that’s why it was so hard to accumulate, but putting it up on a wall and seeing it all together was a bit exciting. I got a little bit of faith in the work. I do think the smaller drawing geometric lined up is a big improvement on the haphazard positioning of varying sizes of drawing.

A note on the point of art because Ive been thinking about it lately
Art is history. I really do feel like I’m accessing a conversation that has been going on for thousands of years. And will continue to go on for at least the couple of decades we have left before global warming kills us all. I feel I have inherited ideas that are not new, but have been evolving for centuries and will evolve again through me and my artistic process and the processes of my fellow artists. The ideas I hold in my hands are not done evolving, and if i do not put them down onto to paper well - I’m sure somebody else will, but in any case there is a sense of passing the baton, of this thought, this consciousness. Through art I see not only my self and my part to play in the conversation but the conversation as a whole, each person an individual voice and were are all apart of it. Art gives shape to things we don’t have names for yet, but by continuing to make them knowable through art we envision a world where language catches up to reality. Art is understanding each other. There are spaces in our lives that are filled easily by some from of art, like marvel movies and songs about love. ( which are perfectly valid ways and important ways to find happiness ) but fine art, fine art and poetry fits those small spaces with the most obscure shapes, so obscure we never imagined they would ever be acknowledged, and thats why art and poetry can sometimes be hard to understand, because they are designed to be understood by only a few, but those who do understand feel a sense of joy, the joy of not being alone, not being forgotten, of being recognised in this multi generational conversation. And of all the art you see, only 10% of it might hit you like that, but for as long as you’re looking and making, you’ll always find art that understands you, you’ll find your part of this conversation. No one type of art can be more valid then the other because art is as versatile as people are, this conversation does not exclude the ornate or the minimalist, the political or confessional, the conversation only excludes those who don’t look, who dont see the point of art or its function in society.

Experiments with composition, some of these worked better than others, I particularly liked the way the classical paintings looked when made symmetrical, there is something ornate about them.

A collection of my favourite images, I think I work better when I can see them all in one place. I take hundreds of photos so It’s important to narrow them down to manageable numbers, and even though it means I sometimes miss out on other good photos, I prefer that too feeling overwhelmed with images. I choose photos based on a combination of the best image quality and the interesting compositions.

Carol Ann Duffy has a way of using the feminine archetypes of literature to explore modern narratives. She often touches on important feminist issues while also telling stories of women end up being independent and stronger than they were in the beginning

You can see Neil Gaimans interest in Joseph Campbell’s work through the theory of the tree of knowledge. The idea that God does not see the world in good and evil, things are just different. And because humans see good and evil they cannot be close to God. And that this was necessary for the development of man kind. A part of Gods plan
