Just a sideblog to show some pride and positivity! Mostly reblogs (I'm aromantic. That kinda covers it! Any pronouns are fine, but prefer he/they (^u^) )

We make a lot of aro jokes about "why love when you can do xyz?" and y'all know that can go for any forms of love, not just romantic, right?
Even from aros, I still get misunderstood when I say I don't feel love at all. Romantic or platonic or familial love.
"But that's how you define love" when I said I can best explain how I felt about someone as "a strong fondness." No ?? It isn't love. I don't feel it.
Stop pushing amatonormativity onto people ESPECIALLY aros.

there’s been a really bizarre trend in the past couple years of TERFS/radfems getting pissed off about biology posts. posts about the bilateral gyandromorph cardinal (one half male, one half female), posts about older hens beginning to crow and act like roosters, posts about animals being animals. and it’s hilarious because they interpret these posts as some kind of agenda. no! these are animals not choosing any gender identity or sexuality but being born into bodies they have no control over. weird how that happens in nature huh

Being a weird little girl as a kid provides two options to you: becoming transgender or becoming a weird adult woman. Both of which are things the world needs more of

Idk what trans man needs to hear this but you're NOT evil or disgusting for being a man. You do NOT have to suffer for the sins of the patriarchy committed by cis dudes. Being a man doesn't invalidate the misogyny you experienced growing up or experience now. Being a man doesn't mean you deserve to be isolated. Being a man doesn't mean you're inherently predatory or scary. You didn't "choose" this, and finding your true self is NOT "betraying the community" because you happen to be a man and/or masculine rather than a woman and/or feminine. You ARE allowed to be upset when people "affirm" your gender by malgendering you.
You DO deserve a community that uplifts you. You DO deserve to experience trans joy. You DO deserve to have your voices heard and your struggles recognized. Wanting the bare minimum of solidarity is NOT "making everything about trans men".

Identity treated as a monolith is something that will always irritate me. No, I don't speak for aromantics as a whole. The identity is as vast and varied as the human population as a whole. Hell, I can't even speak for the aromantic lesbians. We all have different experiences with sex, and gender, and aromanticism, and our entire fucking lives. It's just bizarre that something that was formed to bring a community together is so often used to place people into these little boxes, and then anyone who gets out of the box is chastised.
Like, sorry! It's not my life mission to contort myself into the shape you think I should be when you hear the word Aromantic. Maybe get over yourself and bask in the vastness of the human condition.

🧵 THREAD: This #PrideMonth, don’t forget that the fight for queer liberation didn’t start or end with marriage equality.
💪✨ We need to keep fighting for our rights.
Here’s are a few examples:
💋 Before the 2003 Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, same-smex smexual activity was illegal in fourteen U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. military
👶 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t adopt in all 50 states. Before the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, laws varied wildly by state.
🏳️🌈 Before 1973, the American Psychiatric Association listed homosmexuality as a ‘mental illness.’ In December 1973, a vote was successfully held to remove it.
🗳️ Before 1974, there were no openly gay elected officials. That changed with Kathy Kozachenko, who became the first openly gay American elected to public office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
🎖️ Before 2011, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” banned LGBTQ+ people from serving openly in the military.
💍 Before 2015, LGBTQ+ couples couldn’t get married in all 50 states. At the time, laws varied by state, and while many states allowed for civil unions for same-sex couples, it created a separate but equal standard.
💼 Before 2020, employers could legally discriminate against queer and trans employees. It wasn’t until the U.S. Supreme Court held that an employer who fires or otherwise discriminates against an individual simply for being gay or transgender is in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

i think the Trans Women In Sports arguments could all be put to rest by requiring all participants to attend one (1) open division roller derby bout. nothing instantly communicates the incredible capacity for violence inherent to all humans regardless of gender like watching them put on roller skates and slam into each other at speed

This pride month, support AroAllos without making assumptions about our sex lives!
No more "you aren’t sluts/whores"; because what about those of us who are?
No more "yes, get some!" Because what about those of us who don’t want to?
Support AroAllo without assuming if and how much and what kinds of sex we have, and especially without assigning moral value to that assumption.
Support AroAllos who are sluts and whores, support AroAllos who have a lot of casual sex, and support AroAllos who don’t like sex, who don’t have sex at all, support AroAllos who only have sex in committed relationships, whether those are romantic, (queer-)platonic, sexual or something else entirely, and AroAllos who only have sex with their friends, and support every AroAllo in-between.
Just support all AroAllos. No caveats, no "buts" and "ifs", nothing. Support and include AroAllos.
