The level in which people feel comfortable coming at black women. I will never truly understand. She could have defended her favorite without involving us. Or was her aim a reaction? Anyway, thank you for saying it loud AND bringing receipts.
People think-piecing about Mary, her relationship with the rest of their makeshift family and claiming her and Stack don’t have a “real, loving relationship” are definitely overcompensating for Something. Cant blame them too bad because that’s a sore wound that a lot of black women have but let’s be honest and look at the material here

Random thoughts about Sinners (2025) part two
• Annie's knowledge and wisdom meeting Sammies gift. Showing us that hoodoo as a way to protect those gifted with abilities to uplift and free our spirits from the confines of the lives we live.
• Smoke and Stacks abandonment issues manifesting differently. Smoke showed a desire to find what he didn't have. But Stack rejecting all Black women.
• Mary's disregard for Sammie until she realized who he was and his proximity to the twins. Now she uses that and her money to distract him from what he said..for her to leave.
• Stack having a love and affection for Annie, because she was capable of providing a safe place for Smoke to be Elijah, something he couldn't do. Something he couldn't be.
• The fact that we got to meet Smoke and Elijah, but only got to see Stack and will never have the opportunity to witness Elias.
• Annie not looking surprised at Smokes arrival, she knew he was coming, just no exact idea of when.
• Sammies father was most likely responsible for alienating the twins from the rest of the community. Talking some bullshit about the twins killing their father is going against God.
• Sammies father trying to shame Sammie into leaving the music behind.
• The song in the church being 'this little light of mine' right before the preacher tries to dim Sammies light.
• Dimming or extinguishing Sammies light would've hurt future generations to come.
• The preacher admitted to bringing the guitar in. He's aware that Sammies got a gift, he wants to control it. Own it, posses it. The church taught him well.
• As much as there was a real visceral love between Annie and Smoke, she still falls into the archetype of the women of the past who had no choice but to accept any and everything from men who did nothing but hurt them.
• MBJ being on screen with a dark skinned, plus sized black woman as a Love Intrest....Lord! thank you Ryan. Leaning into the blackness instead of always trying to soften and contrast it in order to appease white people. I was getting tired of it. I think Ryan could sense it, he knows the industry better than we do and how to go around it.
• Smoke being more of a father to Stack than a brother at times.• While Smoke was protecting Stack, who protected him? Annie obviously, but who before her? When they were kids?
• Stack disrespecting Cornbreads wife the moment he met her.
• Even if Sammie did everything his father wanted, his father would've been unhappy with him.
• Remmick saying the prayer with Sammie. Trauma.
• Am I crazy for thinking Remmick was after the twins in the first place? They robbed the Irish mob, then an Irish vampire comes for them? I don't know, maybe I'm crazy.
• Remmick saying I want your Stories, reminder that everyone wants Black peoples stories, music, art, minds, light but what they really want is something they can't take from us. The undying soul that resides within. Something we can't even locate. We can access, but never locate and extract to give to anyone else. Everyone wants this thing but not the people who have it.
• Sammies parents not caring about his well-being instead focusing on what the churchfolks opinions and viewpoint. Had me yelling at them in front of other people.
• Sammies dad calling him a prodigal son...my guy he left YESTERDAY!🙄 I actually laughed at that shit.
• Smoke saying he never seen the things Annie warned him about...SIR, you never seen those things because of the MOJO BAG. 🤔
• The white people performing at the door to lull everyone into a false sense of security. And all it did was instill fear, because since when do white people try so hard? To be around black people? At night?
• When the haze of the hive mind lifted from Stack, does Smokes voice haunt him? Smoke, his strong, protective other half, begging, pleading, with him not to hurt Annie, not to hurt him. Tell me he hears Smoke everytime he closes his eyes. I need someone to write a fic about this.
• Am I the only one that thought of Cornbreads wife when I saw them getting burnt by the sun? The trauma of not knowing is worse.
• I know the entire community is gonna blame Smoke and Stack for bringing the Devil with them. And whose gonna lead the charge...their trifling uncle.
• I need the whole 'you gonna let her get between us again'• explored...thoroughly. Please Stack tell me more.
• Seeing Smoke stand between Stack,(behind the door) and Annie (directly behind him) made me wonder, did Smoke ever feel torn? Or like he had ro choose? I feel like he was Smoke for Stack and reserved Elijah for Annie.
• Yes I would've loved a triangle between Smoke, Annie and Stack. Simply because black women deserve more. And Annie deserved the world.
• Why, lord why did Stack bite Annie twice? AND why did I kinda enjoy the visual of him on her? Help.
• Capitalism is trash. That's it.
For now. This movie has me losing my mind.

Random thoughts about Sinners (2025)
• Stacks disrespect for black women is Sickening.
• Mary's disregard for Black mens voices and opinions, the first thing we hear from her is "Excuse me BOY", but her blatant desire for their bodies(Stack). That being her first line made me flinch.
• The coldness between Smoke and Mary is a result of Smoke being the main obstacle between her and Stack. His role as Stacks other half, protecting him from everyone, even himself. Also Smoke, who know knows what love looks like thanks to Annie, sees what Mary actually feels for Stack.
• Smoke being a protector to everyone, yet never having the opportunity to be that for his daughter.
• Smoke leaving Annie at her lowest deserved more focus. I feel like he left her without a word, partly because he subconsciously blamed her.• Remick claiming to be about equality and shit, only for him to turn around and give known KKK members the ability to live forever and commit unspeakable violence against black people without Any fear.
• The true irony and sadness of White Supremacy. It's a cage in and of itself. In order for it work, you must surrender your history, your heritage, culture, religion and your individuality for this singular, nonsensical idea. • Mary being okay with Stacks disrespect and belittling of black women but draws the line at her own mother.
• Stacks disregard for black women, being a result of being raised by Mary's mother.• Smoke killing Annie was more than just keeping his word to her. For the first time in a while, Elijah made an active decision. He chose peace, he chose death, he chose himself. Instead of always going along with whatever Stack wants and cleaning up his messes. Stack has to clean this mess up by himself.
• If Stack was in the Juke joint when Smoke was dealing with the KKK, did he go downstairs and face the consequences of his, Mary's and Remicks actions? Did he see Annie's body? Did it hurt him to see her like that? Did he apologize? Did he cry? What did he feel at that moment? Knowing that he was the one that forced his brother's hand? Did it hurt? At night, did it hurt seeing his brother body outside? Did it hurt seeing Delta Slim, knowing he brought him here and is now gone.
• Did it hurt Mary to see just how much pain her presence brought with her? She didn't care about the black community anyway. All she wanted was a Black mans body. Although I guess she's just gonna blame Remick.
• Remicks desire was based on greed. He didn't want community, he wanted to posses, to own, to control. I don't care what anyone says.
• The church has never been a safe place for the oppressed. It was always a weapon. The same way it protected the oppressors from the oppressed justified rage, it will continue to do so. No matter their colour.
• The church was also used as a subtle form of surveillance.
• Sammies father not speaking to the twins.• The entire community seeing Smoke and Stack as no good, yet they failed to protect them as children from abuse.
• Their failure to protect them is a direct result of the church, namely Sammies father.
• Black mens inexplicable desire to inherent the systems that oppressed them instead of dismantling it.(Smoke with money, Sammies dad with the church).
• Where did Sammies father get the money for the church, probably the twins dad. Which in turn was the reason he was never taken to task for abusing his sons. (Delta Slims story made me think about that)
• Mary expecting flowers from the twins, but if they just got back how were they supposed to know her mom died?

You know what I love about this part, he corrected her without disrespecting her or her mother, unlike Stack. I love him, but the disrespect and disregard he had for black women. No.

one thing I can't stand is when europeans try to explain why 29°c temps are deadly to them and global warming is destroying their infra and someone points out poor people in the global south suffer thru 40°c + temps yearly rather then extending the tiniest bit of empathy or solidarity they double down on race essentialism lmao WE'RE PALE DELICATE CREATURES WE CAN'T SURVIVE IN HEAT UNLIKE YOU BROWN HARDY SAVAGE BEASTS like bitch. we have infants and old people and immunocompromised people too. they just fucking die. ur fanless insulated house in 29°c heat is STILL a lot cooler than delhi or jakarta or lahore in the summer. most of us don't have ACs, or can't afford to operate them because electricity is so expensive. stop dehumanising us because your suffering simply must be the most important in the world.
