You know... I'm beginning to realize something happened in the 2010s where we learned about social justice, then like a bunch of teenagers got really reactionary about it, and now in every movement there's a bunch of people who refuse to talk about any intracommunity issue bc "in the end they hate all of us" who will ask you to answer for the crimes of BPDkomaeda or Bidelsamus like they are serious thinkers in your community. And like. I get it. Because I was also here and did internalize the ideas of insane people with 10,000 followers as if they were Karl Marx. But I think we have overcorrected. Like... Being in any group at all where you are disprivileged compared to other members you have to hear so much "people will try to say we have privilege, but it's really just a thin veneer of acceptance that would give way easily!" and if you say, like... "I don't even get a veneer" or "you guys mistreat us other people" you are suddenly the sick freak who is missing that the TRUE oppressor is the system. Transandrophobia is a very popular and insidious version of this, but I feel like there's a version of it in every community.

I have a psychotic disorder, and honestly most of the people who have been the most bigoted to me were people with less stigmatized disabilities who thought their experience entitled them to dismiss me. And if you talk about the stuff beyond that, like public psychosis being grounds for institutionalization or psychosis wards being even more controlled and dehumanizing places than the lower security wards... you can just be shut down for even assuming that the systemic structure truly functions better for the more privileged. But really, I always shut myself down when I want to discuss it. Because I just remember that I'm sewing discord in my precious community that actually doesn't give a fuck about my experience 😊 let alone the people who are the worst off among all of us

anti-fatness is discrimination. anti-fatness is having next to no legal protections for being discriminated against. anti-fatness is being denied housing, jobs, receiving less pay and promotions (legally) because of your size. anti-fatness is being denied access to clothing, seating, transportation, and other human rights because infrastructure has been designed to exclude you. anti-fatness is less likelihood of receiving a fair trial. anti-fatness is dehumanization. anti-fatness is being denied necessary surgeries, but not surgery that amputates the digestive tract with the intent to starve and shrink you (it doesn’t work either). anti-fatness is mutilation. anti-fatness is being subject to torture devices that bolt your mouth shut. anti-fatness is being told by close friends, family, and professionals that you are better off living with an eating disorder or other life-threatening illness. anti-fatness sells you starvation as a guaranteed opt-out of oppression, but doesn’t tell you that bodies will always regain weight to survive. anti-fatness blames and punishes you for failing at an achievement that is quite literally impossible. anti-fatness is a $90 billion dollar industry. anti-fatness is being denied gender-affirming care. anti-fatness is being barred from in vitro fertilization and reproductive healthcare. anti-fatness is being barred from adopting children. anti-fatness is being removed from your loving parents because they couldn’t make you thin. anti-fatness is intentionally starving your own baby so they won’t get fat. anti-fatness is disproportionately high suicide rates. anti-fatness is being killed at the hands of medical neglect and mistreatment. anti-fatness is the world preferring a dead body over a fat one.

Also these days I only ever see people talk about non-binary people in some sort of punching down joke. The only nice things people ever say about non-binary people is joke that they make good baristas. It gets to a point where it's just like. We get it you do not like us and assume we are all unsanitary, lazy, and ugly. You hate seeing people outside of the norm existing if you don't want to fuck them.

The older generation's fixation on forcing you to have kids is something they absolutely refuse to unlearn. You can give the calmest and most reasonable explanation for not having kids and the only thing they can think to say is, "But what of the heir to the lands?" "Who will inherit the throne?" "Please sire upon your barren death there will be a parochial schism that will soak our soils with brother-blood." They literally hate to see you happy with just a cat.

before it gets bad I'm just gonna tell y'all certain rich people have literally only recently noticed Open Source software availability compromises the bottom line of their proprietary investments so if you see little chickadees on this website talking about the dangers of Open Source software all of a sudden it's cuz they accidentally sipped some koolaid mixed up by the far right yacht people to fuck with peoples software sovereignty and right to repair, modify, and redistribute robust codebases that become a problem when 30% of your portfolio is in, oh, say, adobe or openai.

This is your unfriendly neighborhood computer fucker telling you not to fall for it and to demand your right to digital sovereignty rather than trusting companies to make correct choices about what to do with the parts of your life they would very much like to have in the cloud to continue improving their products.

one consequence of transmisogyny (but not unique to it) is that it makes you into a paranoiac. take the example of the "degendering they" or like the "backhanded compliment," relatively minor interpersonal interactions that trans women increasingly feel hypervigilant about. it's probably counterproductive to assume everyone who gives you a compliment or refers to you as "they" or "this person" (<- phrase that actually revolts me a little now in this context) is doing so condescendingly, in a malicious or even just incidentally diminishing way. but also, everything about your life as a trans woman encourages you to be on alert for these kinds of cues, because if you're not paying attention to them then when the hammer drops it will hit that much harder.
