Week 13 Op-Ed Post

For My Op-Ed I want to advocate Transgender Information Centers in schools as well as hospitals. My solution would be to open up more Transgender Information Facilities that will help people who want to learn more about the topic. There should be more classes to teach people more about the lifestyle to bring awareness and stop discrimination on trans society.

I am going to be writing a paper so I can thoroughly explain why I want to advocate that certain topic.

Week 12 Doc Analysis

1. The film wanted to advocate the prevention and spreading of hate motivated crimes.

2. The film targeted all audiences. They interviewed an actual victim of a hate crime to better connect with the audience and to show them that it can happen to anyone.

3. The video uses a voiceover to show the seriousness of he subject. It also uses clips and pictures of people getting bullied to support the problem.

4. The film uses pictures and voice overs to establish credibility. The film does not use text to make the audience know what they are talking about.

5. The interview establishes a personal touch to the issue. Combined with the background music, this was very effective in catching the audiences attention. While text was used, it was not overpowering it did not create a distraction from the voice over. The graphics used were effective, but frequently changed and seemed repetitious and did not add much to the message of the documentary.

Overall we rated this video at a B. There was strong pathos with the pictures, voice over and the music selected. One thing that could have been different was that of the images changing so Frequently and we felt didn’t really add much.

Lit Review Reflection

The patterns that I found when doing my research methodology was that of only looking for articles that talked about LGBT issues. At first I wasn't finding to much information but after reading more journals I found ALOT OF INFO...

I honestly do think that this methodology works. After finding surveys and journals that someone has researched thoroughly it gives it more credibility. It was easier to find the information from journals too so that was a bonus.

For all my questions I used Star Wars memes because I mean common, its Star Wars! Whenever I would get frustrated when I was reading possible sources, I would have to take a break and pick it back up later. I really did think that library sources and ejournals helped out a TON on this Lit Review!

Extra Credit

 An area that I Definitely need to improve on is in my paragraph where I write:

“ Has the Transgender society grown after the mass outbreak of actors coming out in TV Shows”. I do not properly transition from the previous question, I do not put together a connection of the two. It makes it harder for me to not lose my followers that are reading my paper. What I want to maybe do, was gather a source that shows the ratings of that transgender people on that specific show and how the ratings were before they were on that show.  

An Area that I THINK that u tried to transition was when I explained:

“Some cases show that people are sexually harassed or abused from people that they know and they feel safe with”

“In most cases Transgender people that have been sexually harassed aren't even comfortable with a Doctor checking them for any check up.”

In the article that I was writing about I want to basically talk about how these two are connected in a sense where they get discriminated by isolating themselves and the doctors treat the differently.

Week 6-Research Process

Well so far it’s been slow and steady but getting it done...

I know that once I finish this I’ll have a better understanding of how to be a better writer and to back up my findings with sources that are legit. Once this paper is done I can for sure sit down and reward myself.

Literature Review Obstacles

One thing that I am worried about is that I’ve never done a Lit Review before so I don't want to be completely lost on how to start it!

Another thing I’m sure that I’ll have problems with is the citations portion. I may think I have enough information but I will probably need a whole lot more.

Going back to never having done a Lit Paper, This will be my longest paper I’ve ever written!! OMG

I noticed a trend in APA format errors. I thought I’d post these to help as you make revisions for the final draft of your GA.

Purpose: The purpose of this genre is to basically let people know if a funny way that there are people in society that aren't coming out to the world in a show. There are day to day regular people going through this as well but just because they aren't a reality star it goes unnoticed.

Audience:  The intended audience for this genre is for those who are aware of Trans issues as well as those who follow Caitlyn Jenner coming out.  Transgender is a touchy subject that most people usually don’t talk about because it gets the people that aren't for it  uncomfortable,upset, angry. It also brings up the subject on the Transition of Olympian/Reality Star Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner. Many people are coming out in a conservative way and that is why Caitlyn was awarded for her courage of how she came out to the world. This poster lets the readers see the humor of the comic and to  remember that there are lots of ordinary people out there that are not coming out on a Reality show.

Ethos: The image has credibility and it gives us a webpage JimmyMargulies.com where we could find more comics over different subjects.

Logos: The message on the image is clearly to advocate that there are information centers that are open to the public that you can go that offer people information if you are interested in Trans issues.

Pathos: The Image texts states “I assure you, many people have made the transition without a Diane Sawyer Interview or vanity fair cover”. I shows the humor of the Shrink as well as the serious part of the topic which is Transgender information.
