the fact that a lot of progressive people truly cannot tell the difference between a woman who is sexually objectified, and a woman who is an active sexual participant is bad bad bad bad bad bad bad

somewhere out there right now is a kid with curly hair being raised by people who have wavy hair at best and those people are giving them 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and telling them to dry brush it. and that kid is gonna spend all of middle school and high school hating their hair and moping over the flat iron. they're being told right now that if they don't dry-brush their curl pattern into oblivion every morning it means they're unkempt and gross even though they naturally have the kind of ringlets that a thousand bridezillas would commit horrible murders for every june. it's happening right now it's an absolute epidemic and a tragedy every time

When my mother gets into facebook fights with her childhood friends who grew up to be racists, she passive-aggressively fucks with them by making a donation to a local refugee assistance organization in the name of their immigrant grandmothers, a donation large enough that they get a card from the organization saying so.   She passive aggressively fucks with the same demographic of friends who #bluelivesmatter by commenting with details about the various petty crimes they committed together as teens, e.g. “Wow Joey, where was all the respect for blue lives when we hotboxed your uncle’s patrol car?”
And obviously both these approaches are specific to former juvenile delinquent turned UMC babyboomer but it feel still inspirational in that we can all find our own chaotic good pettiness niche.

US President Donald Trump's new travel ban went into effect on Monday, to far less mobilisation and criticism than the first time around, in 2017.  With a bigger mandate this time, and relatively high approval ratings for his immigration policy, Trump's new travel ban has not just expanded, it's also on far more solid legal footing, immigration lawyers told Middle East Eye.

can we stop pretending like it’s so super easy for trans men to pass. “oh just put on a baggy shirt and cut your hair-“ it literally doesn’t work like that and I refuse to believe you actually think it’s that easy

something I've noticed over the years is that calling something eugenicist rhetoric is almost always met with "eugenics is a strong word" or "that's not eugenics it's just common sense". what I need everyone to understand about eugenics is that:
it is still one of the primary underlying status quo ideologies
the fact that it is status quo means that, instinctively, you are going to label it as "common sense" or as "objective truth"
"eugenics" simply means "belief that there is a way of optimising human genetics for the benefit of the general good"
when I say that something is "eugenicist rhetoric" I am not saying "everyone who has ever said this thing is inherently evil". I am saying "you need to question where some of these ideas come from"
this is also how people have come to quiz me on the ethics of various choices an individual might make rather than focusing on the systemic, institutional, and cultural elements of eugenics. for example. I am not here to rule for or against one person aborting their disabled foetus. I am pro-abortion and I would never advocate against the right for someone to make whatever choice they're going to make. I am here to ask people to question the fact that such an abortion is seen as the most rational choice for any person to make in such a situation

Yesterday, JK Rowling unironically said people should go into the women’s toilet to take photographs of the women in there peeing just in case they’re trans. Saying, “photographing, reporting, and disseminating [] men’s images online will be a piece of cake.”
And with what criteria will people be making this determination of who looks sufficiently like a man to be harassed in the women’s toilet?
This is what we meant when we said “defending and protecting women’s safety” was always a red herring.
You all have emboldened (Cis) Men and insufferable bigots to follow any woman who isn’t “sufficiently feminine” into the women’s room to assault and harass them as long as they can justify it with assumption the woman is trans. Fuck y’all misogynistic and transphobic freaks.

i don’t know how to explain to you people that no matter what a country’s government is like i do not and will not support the US indiscriminately bombing that country’s civilians and i don’t know why that’s a controversial take tbh

it's really annoying being fat and disabled because everyone always assumes i just need to lose weight and i won't be disabled anymore. that im just lazy or something. they never consider the fact that i actually became disabled while i was thin. the chronic pain began when i was thin. my loss of mobility happened when i was thin. i used to go on runs several times a week. i walked and biked absolutely everywhere. my job allowed to do good manual labour every day, lots of heavy lifting and exercise. i ate healthy and balanced. i didn't become fat until after my disability left me functionally housebound. they just tell me, lose the weight, fatty, and the disability will go away. they don't understand. they don't want to. they just hate fat people. they hate disabled people. I'm fat and disabled. they despise me for daring to exist.

years after the inconclusive FDA outbreak investigation #1064 ("dry cereal") from 2022, with over 550 fucking adverse effects reported (WHICH IS A LOT!), and the LARGEST influx of reports iwaspoisoned had ever seen, people are still reporting mystery gut issues, sometimes excruciatingly painful, after eating lucky charms and cheerios. this is not limited to one or a few flavors, I have seen this across a bunch of different flavors and varieties of both.
there has never been a recall about this. there has never been a cause found. the investigation was closed without figuring out what the fuck is making people sick. lucky charms is blatantly aimed at kids, and cheerios spent decades making a name for itself as 'healthy' and 'safe' for people with major medical issues.
anecdotally since 2022 I have spoken to a lot of people who either had their kid's mystery gut issues clear up after their kids stopped eating those cereals, or had their own mystery gut issues clear up after they stopped eating the cereals themselves. and yes, this includes people without a gluten sensitivity.
if you eat any flavors of lucky charms or cheerios, and you have any kind of mystery gut issues going on, please try avoiding the cereals for a week or few and see if anything improves or clears up.
and yeah, I am never eating ANY lucky charms or cheerios again. they KNOW their cereals are making people sick. they just hope everyone forgot.
