Ask My Muse About Death
Send my muse one or a few of these questions (all of them related to death, life after death, etc. so please read with that warning in mind)
Have you ever come close to dying?
What do you think is the worst possible way to die?
Do you think there’s life after death?
If you were reborn as someone/something new, who or what would you want to be?
If you do believe in the afterlife, what kind of afterlife do you think awaits you?
Have you ever taken someone’s life?
Are you afraid of dying?
Do you ever wish you were immortal?
If you are immortal, do you ever wish you were mortal instead?
Name one (or a few) people in your life whose death would ruin you.
Who do you think would miss you most if you were gone?
Name one person you’d protect even if it meant sacrificing yourself.
If you had to choose a way to die, what would you choose?
Have you ever seen someone die (but you didn’t cause it)?
Has someone ever tried to severely hurt you?
Could you kill someone if it meant protecting yourself or someone else?
If you could meet someone who has died, who would it be?
Do you believe the dead ever come back to walk the earth?
Have you ever seen a ghost/spirit?
If you’ve ever had a near-death experience, describe what happened and what you saw/experienced.
BONUS: FOR UNDEAD/SPOOKY MUSES
How did you die?
What’s the last thing you remember before death?
Is the afterlife/undeath exactly as you pictured it to be?
What do you consider yourself (ghost, zombie, spirit, etc.)?
Do you wish you were alive and mortal again?
Was death frightening to you?
What have you learned since your death?
When you meet living people, are they afraid of you?
If you could be brought back to life, would you accept?
Did you return for a reason?

cut because i think you’re trying to kill me here
6. Did they feel rejection or affection as a child?
I guess it depends on what parent you look at? While his mother was often present and caring towards him, his father was hardly around due to work as a knight. Of course this didn’t help much seeing as his mother passed shortly after his birth due to illness. He grew to resent his father for it, having to take on the role of providing for himself and his sister. It didn't exactly help him much that he acted out often in schooling and didn't particularly care for their training in war out of resentment.
38. Are they basically negative when facing new things? Suspicious? Hostile? Scared? Enthusiastic?
Overly enthusiastic tbh. Unless it does anything that reminds him of his father then he gets pissy about it. The only thing he wasn’t thrilled about approaching was becoming a knight and then becoming Kaiser. He honestly had no desire at all to be Kaiser and was rather horrified by it which eventually just turned into a fear that gnawed at the back of his mind.
47. Do they want to project an image of a younger, older, more important person? Does they want to be visible or invisible?
Invisible. Absolutely invisible. That was one of the reasons he hated being Kaiser was it thrust everything about him into the spotlight which wasn’t a welcomed thing at all. Other than that he mainly seems to want to project an image of like, an older protector of sorts? I guess the ghost thing does wonders for that.
46. Is your character tall? Short? What about size? Weight? Posture? How do they feel about their physical body?
I guess for Novan standards he’s a bit short prior to the height gain from gaining the power of Kaiser, but for Maple World standard he’s pretty damn tall. He tends to keep a firm posture unless we’re talking about Friendstory where half the time he’s pretty slumped in terms of posture despite his history of being a sports player. A bit too exhausted there to stand tall. Weight wise he’s pretty damn skinny aside from what muscles he does have. Another Novan could probably bench press him with ease to be honest.
10. Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted?
Slow-witted, just very very slow-witted. He does have street-smart to him but good lord do not expect intelligent responses to anything. Turns out the Kaiser’s are just a long line of bold slow-witted types.
17. Did they travel? Where? Why? When?
He has seen Aboris before due to meetings with the Flora regarding the peace between the two races and he has seen Maple World in the past. While they have both been diplomatic trips it hasn’t stopped him at all from acting like a really bad tourist. Transcendents forbid he finds anything with warm water or you’re looking at a good week of not seeing him.
35. Do they always rationalize errors? How do they accept disasters and failures?
Not well, at all. He still blames himself entirely for Magnus being banished and will likely never find peace for failing to reclaim Heliseum before the Specters could overrun it. He’s more likely to take blame for any issues and internalize it until it does nothing but eat away at him due to his severe complex to protect. Outwardly he acts cheerful and plays off and rationalizes his failures but inwardly they still eat away at him hundreds of years later.
22. Who are their friends? Lovers? ‘Type’ or ‘ideal’ partner?
His only partner was Magnus. The pair had met while relatively young for Novans and pretty much instantly hit it off. He likes his partners to be able to thrive on their own and have an independent nature but not for them to be cold and closed off entirely. Mags was a bit closed off but he took it upon himself to help him and try to coax him into opening up. It sort of became like a goal of his to get Magnus to trust him entirely, so I’d have to say Magnus was.. kind of his ideal? I mean- until he poisoned him but that’s another story entirely and even then he still loves Magnus and understands he hated the Kaiser and not him. Friend wise? He got along rather well with Chronica and Piston the two of them being very.. in his face and friendly which he kind of needed the bold and friendly sort in his life.
I guess his type is ‘likely to stab you in 50 years’.
50. What are the prevailing facial expressions? Sour? Cheerful? Dominating?
Cheerful mixed with love-sick puppy if how he generally acts is any way to tell. He can get a bit dominating in battle but outside of it he’s pretty much a damn marshmallow.
14. Were they involved at school? Sports? Clubs? Debate? Were they unconnected?
Unconnected, just nothing but unconnected for the most part. He found it hard to get along with the other children. Unless you wanna talk Friendstory which he pretty much dominated the school soccer team and found himself unwillingly popular due to that and his talent in singing.

// 41 through 44~
41. Is your character aware of who they are? Strengths? Weaknesses? Idiosyncrasies? Capable of self-irony?
Almost a little too aware of the weaknesses. He’s somewhat aware he has strengths but the weaknesses seem to overwhelm him leaving him unable to use a good majority of his abilities out of fear of failure.
42. What does your character want most? What do they need really badly, compulsively? What are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?
He has an impulsive need to well, protect something. He feels like due to becoming Kaiser that is his life goal is to protect.
43. Does your character have any secrets? If so, are they holding them back?
Yup. The Novans are a bit of the older mindset that procreation is a needed thing and should be the only purpose of a relationship? Nerva however, happens to be bisexual with a heavy leaning towards men. Plus most wouldn’t really want to hear that their Kaiser is infatuated still with the man who tried to subjugate them. He’ll let it slip to outsiders but, he will likely never let anyone in Pantheon know the truth of things.
44. How badly do they want to obtain their life objectives? How do they pursue them?
Rather badly seeing as they became his purpose of living. He’ll usually throw himself into situations where he knows harm is likely or sometimes even inevitable if it means that the safety of Grandis will be boosted from it. Hell, he sacrificed himself to make sure that Grandis would be safe.

cepheusadviser:
“ Perhaps Kyle can correct the mistakes of the past. It’s time for him to make his own decisions.“ As bizarre of a kid Kyle was, Nerva must have a reason to choose him as a successor, right?
“ Yes, good. Though it would be nice if you could coax him into coming to every other meeting. In fact, I would greatly appreciate it if you did. “ Maybe then she didn’t need to pester Tear with hundreds of questions and scold Kyle over the phone anymore. Taking back Heliseum was starting to become a priority, and the Novas’ ideas in particular were very significant.
“ I see. I’ve passed by what seemed to be the Commander during discussions of Heliseum, but I don’t know what to expect from him. “ Just the few Novans she met and personally knew already gave her an idea of how the others must be. They were very, very unique people, needless to say.
“Of course. I just hope the people of Pantheon will realize such too. They mean well but, even if he is a child he needs to be able to do as is needed.” To be fair Nerva probably could have done as the Kaiser before him did and take more urgency in the passing on of the title but, he felt if he did so too soon then it would only lead Magnus to strike again. Better to let him think he temporarily won.
“If he’s too much trouble if you change the conversation towards something about him even if briefly he tends to listen better.” Like that ungodly time Nerva could recall trying his damnedest to explain to the boy how final transfiguration worked. It only took maybe a week once he got past the rather limited attention span the boy had.
“Gods forbid you end up running into the old commander.” Nerva almost felt a phantom pain in his temple as he recalled the... err.. eccentric behavior of Piston. A damn good man but... he had a rather strange way of getting things done and not even age seemed to mellow him out in the slightest. He was what, a grandfather now and yet.. not much seems to have changed there. To be honest he vaguely felt bad for Tirion. “I sometimes truly wonder how the current Commander is his son the two are as different as day and night.”
