The Fabric Commitment
Suiting + Bustier - Wool/Cotton Striped Jacquard
Source: Fleishmans
Cost: $10/yd
Explanation: My original goal was to find a white suiting material that provides structure for both the bodice underneath the dress and the oversized blazer. This fabric that I've chose does just that, and the jacquard adds a unique texture to make it more visually interesting.
Lining - Satin
Source: Fabric Wholesale Direct
Cost: $3/yd
Explanation: Instead of going for an all white look, which could easily bring my outfit down, I wanted to add a bit more visual interest as well as ground the collection, which is why I chose a brown satin to line the wool pieces.
Dress - Sheer Voile
Source: Fleishmans
Cost: $8/yd
Explanation: Although I initially wanted to use a chiffon, I found that it worked for the design but I did want a little more structure to the fabric so that it holds the ruching better. This voile that I found, which has both the properties of organza and chiffon, serves perfectly for the overlay to the dress.

And she cried. For the second time that week, her hand moved, letting her heart bleed—
She lay still, the sheets a cocoon, her arms unwrapped, her scars breathing like roots.
And she cried, and she wept into that silent, dark room.
