shoutout to Jake Animorphs for being kinda uninteresting for like forty books and then hitting you so hard when he fully snaps and steps into his role as a hardened military leader at the age of sixteen

and then suddenly that sweet, stressed-out kid is just gone. he only exists to win wars anymore. it makes you realize too late what was lost

no piece of media has ever managed to make me feel like i was in a different time period quite as strongly as animorphs book 16, where they infiltrate aol and spend the entire time spouting computer lingo nobody has spoken aloud in the past decade and a half. the book opens with marco bragging about his top-of-the-line modem, with a whole 56,000 bits per second, and really that just sets the tone for the entire adventure.

tbh the fact that cats purr was an unnecessary bonus we don't always acknowledge. they're already cute and baby and little and soft and make silly noises and do funny shit. but they also like to cuddle and make a soothing pleasant noise to indicate they are happy when they cuddle you? huge. huge for the human race.

Honestly I love how animorphs doesn’t have the kind of outrageous fanon that other fandoms do, because anytime someone makes a claim about one of the characters they’re backed up by like 5 different specific parts of the books
