This quote by Dale Carnegie is really speaking to me right now. It’s so true that inaction makes you doubt and second guess yourself. And the more you procrastinate on your ideas the harder it is to get going. So how do you get past your doubt, fear, resistance and procrastination? Take action, any action. I find when I'm having trouble getting started on a major task, if I find some small task I can complete quickly it can get me past the inertia. Another thing I try is rather than aiming to complete the task, is to set a time limit. Tell myself I only need to work for 30 or 60 minutes. Funny thing... once I work for 30 minutes I usually get into the flow and can keep going for hours. Don’t believe everything you see on the internet! One photo and three very different looks. ⁣ ⁣ When it comes to editing photos on my phone I mostly use the free app Snapseed @googlesnapseed . I can crop, change the brightness, shadows, saturation and more.⁣ ⁣ There’s a “healing” tool that lets you remove unwanted bits of your photo. For example you could delete a pile of dirty laundry you didn’t realize was in the background. It’s a little glitchy sometimes but does come in handy.⁣ ⁣ You can add text with Snapseed however I don’t like the text options so I usually upload a photo to @Canva then add text there.⁣ ⁣ Do you use Snapseed? It’s easy to be busy as a beaver on social media. But are you busy on the right things? You need to be posting content that speaks to potential clients. Then you need to be having conversations with people.🗣 Because let’s face it, unless you have an ecommerce store with some low-priced items combined with a really good ad campaign, people aren’t going to buy from you based on an Instagram post. You need to work on the know, like, trust factor.  ➡️ Let them see your content.  ➡️ Get them to know what it is you do and that you’re actually good at it.  ➡️ Get them to feel like they know who you are.  ➡️ Then encourage them to interact with you. Once you start interacting, get them into a conversation in the DMs or get them on the phone/Zoom. Then you can have that sales conversation. Alt Text - What should you put in it? 🔖Save/Bookmark this post for future reference - [3 of 3 days of Instagram Alt Text series] Don’t reuse the caption in your Alt Text … they’re already going to get that. Add to the story of the post by describing the photo. The best analogy I’ve seen is in a blog post by @iconosquare “Imagine someone is sitting next to you as you scroll through Instagram and they point at a photo and ask what it is. Chances are, you’ll give them a one or two sentence description that is perfect for writing as alt text” Use your words to bring the photo to life for someone who can’t see it clearly. Other tips for your Alt Text: 🖊Focus on what’s important or interesting about the photo. 🖊Use a keyword if it makes sense. Although you’re writing for visually impared people, you’re also writing to help Instagram show your post to the right people. 🖊If there’s text in the photo that’s important to the story include that in the Alt Text. If the text is incidental (like a sign in the background) leave it out. 🖊Mention colours if they’re important to the story the image tells. 🖊Identify the person in the photo if it’s important rather than just saying young woman, tall man etx. If you’re a business or personal brand, identify yourself or key staff.
