AKB48 2014 Janken Taikai Prediction Contest
After a very fun attempt at this last year, I’m back to do it one more time—this time starting things off well in advance so that everyone who wants to my participate.
As you probably know by now, the 5th annual AKB48 Janken Taikai will take place on September 17. 112 members of AKB48 and its sister groups will participate in a rock-paper-scissors tournament, with the winner receiving a solo single release or concert, with 2nd-16th place being featured in a B-side song.
The object of this contest is to accurately guess the outcome of this tournament!

How to Play:
Use the bracket above to help make your picks. When a member makes it to one of the pink lettered circles, she has made it into the top 16. You will need to fill in one name for every letter.
When a member makes it to a blue numbered circle, she has made it into the final 4. Again you will need to fill in one name for each numbered circle.
Finally, you will fill in the gold circle, the winner of the overall tournament.
Please consult the chart carefully and make sure your picks are possible according to the tournament structure. For example, looking at the list above, it is not possible for both Watanabe Miyuki and Kojima Mako to make the final 4, because their lines would have intersected at the round of 16 and one would be eliminated. If you’re not used to tournament structures to may be helpul to print out a copy and use a highlighter to draw a line for the winner of each match.
Last year I was very lenient and asked people to fix their brackets if there was a logical impossibility in their list. I am anticipating far more entries this year so I simply will not have the time to do this for everybody, but if you are unsure and ask me to do so, I can review your choices and make sure they are valid. Once submitted, all picks are final, logically possible or not.

Basic Rules:
Deadline for submission is on September 14, 2014, at 11:59 Pacific Standard Time.

Again, please double check your brackets for logical accuracy before submitting. Once submitted, entries are final.
I reserve the right to disqualify any entries if rule violation is suspected.
Any ties between prize-winning ranks will be broken by drawing a number at random. The person closest to this number in the tiebreaker number they provided above will win the tie.
Prize winners will be contacted within a week of the conclusion of the tournament, and from the point of contact will have one week to declare their prize choice. The timing of prize delivery is subject to change contingent on my own financial circumstances.
Contest is not endorsed or sponsored by Tumblr, and I am solely responsible for its administration. Likes, reblogs, and other tumblr social functions are NOT conditions of winning prizes in this contest, though it is recommended to follow this blog as all announcements will be made here.

Scoring
1 point is awarded for each correct top 16 pick.
3 points are awarded for each correct top 4 pick, in addition to the 1 point for selecting that member in the top 16.
5 points are awarded for correctly guessing the champion, in addition to the 3 points for guessing her in the top 4 and 1 point for guessing her in the top 16.

Maokyun: … is this okay
Momoka: This isn’t a cheering situation guys! This is definitely going to be bad, you should all be worried
Riichan: It’ll be okay, leave it to me!
Yuipon: So today Riichan will hear problems from the audience members attending
Riichan: But you guys are only going to ask people with really bad problems right?
Nana: …don’t say that. Shall we start?
Riichan: Can I pick them randomly? I’ll just pick people who look like they have a problem
Maokyun: People who look like they have a problem?
Momoka: There’s probably loads of people like that here…
Riichan: I think I’ll start from the back. The person there who is a Nana-chan oshi. They’re holding a Nana sign.
Nana: Oh! *waves to the fan*
Riichan: Yes. They look like they have a problem.
Renapyon: What’s that supposed to mean!
Team M: So do you have a problem?
Riichan: Please ask me anything!
Fan #1: I can’t sleep at night
Riichan: Me too! *waves excitedly*
Momoka: I have a feeling this won’t be solved
Reinyan: Yeah if you leave it at that then it’ll remain unsolved!
Riichan: Hmm. Well what I do is… do you know about music that you can sleep to? They play it in the background when you get massages
Renapyon: Like the sound of water running!

Renapyon: Wait! I’m being laughed at a lot but why am I being laughed at?
Momoka: It’s because you’re Renapyon though

Aapon: Okay then, within the team, who doesn’t eat breakfast
Team M: Oh Airi!
Fuuchan: With Airi it’s not just breakfast!
Yuipon: She literally never eats 3 meals a day.
Fuuchan: Even the bentou we get for lunch
Momoka: Yeah I have this image of Airi never eating
Maokyun: But with Airi she doesn’t eat and then there’s one day where all she does is eat!
Airi: Yeah on that day I eat about three months worth of food
Maokyun: It’s really weird!
Renapyon: Do you hibernate normally?
Airi: But I wake up really early! At like 6am!
Momoka: When Renapyon speaks the atmosphere gets a little weird so can you not? I understand that you want to stand out but-
Renapyon: No! No! No!
Momoka: … well I’m the same but… let’s both stop. Let’s be quiet.
Renapyon: Okay I’ll ask later.
Nana: Wait but what? You wake up early…
Momoka: So you wake up early and you can’t eat breakfast? Hmm? *confused expression*
Aapon: But when you wake up sometimes you don’t have an appetite right?
Ayabaa: I’m the type of person who eats ramen for breakfast but… I think you should eat ramen and hamburgers for breakfast.
Fuuchan: I’m the same!
Ayabaa: Right?
Fuuchan: Wait no not you Ayabaa. I can’t eat in the morning, but instead I drink a lot of water and then I start feeling hungry naturally
Nana: And that’s good for your skin and stuff like that as well!
Team M: Yes!
Maokyun: This isn’t really Rii-san’s Problem Solving room at all
Riichan: But! Like what Fuuchan’s saying, my dad always tells me to drink a glass of water in the morning
Momoka: Really? But yeah, it’s always good to drink water!
Riichan: So drink water! But if you still feel sick then maybe you should wake up earlier instead.
Maokyun: What kind of problem solving room is this though
Team M: Problem Solved!
Momoka: People who put their hands up for this usually give really weird questions. *sees a guy putting his hand up really high* You. What are you trying to do?
Team M: A fight?
Momoka: Hm? What are you trying to do huh? What’s your deal?
Fan #3: I have a serious problem
Team M: A serious problem?
Fan #3: I can’t get a girlfriend.
Team M: Ahhhhhhhh
Momoka: Wait. Wait wait wait.
Riichan: Can I just say something?
Momoka: Okay, you go.
Riichan: I think if you’re at the point of coming here it’s impossible for you to be honest.
*Team M shriek and there is mass commotion*
Yuipon: RII-SAN!
Renapyon: Everyone’s going to cry!
Reinyan: *genuinely shocked* I’ve never heard anyone say this before!
Momoka: STOP THE CAMERAS!
Maokyun: It’s okay we’re all your girlfriends!
Yuipon: Rii! Rii! Don’t say that!
Momoka: Is this okay…
Riichan: Please make this talk better guys
Renapyon: Maybe there’s someone out there?
Maokyun: Whose dating someone here?
Yuipon: The number is so low let’s stop this!
Momoka: But wait. Wouldn’t it be weirder if they were coming here if they had girlfriends?
Maokyun: Let’s not make any more comments like that
Nana: Reinyan, say something!
Reinyan: There was a couple who were a fan of AKB who came to my handshakes and they had a baby and they told me at the next handshake event that they named it Reina!
Yuipon: Wait me too! A fan told me they named their child Yui… but the child was a boy…
Reinyan: So it’s not impossible!
Renapyon: Don’t give up!
Maokyun: *to Renapyon* that comment from you is the worst
Momoka: I think if you’re coming here and your interest in this is so deep I’m pretty sure you don’t need a girlfriend though?
Team M: HEY!
Momoka: Wait isn’t this a normal way of thinking though?
Aapon: Well for everyone here we’re your girlfriends~
Team M: That’s a bit… well…
*Someone sings Kanojo ni Naremasuka in the background*
Yuipon: Lastly, Rii… what should they do?
Riichan: Yeah… just think of us as our girlfriends and you’ll be okay probably
Maokyun: We said that earlier though?
Riichan: Well since you can’t get a girlfriend… maybe you should look yourself over and think about your appearance
Team M: Now he’s fixing his t-shirt!
Nana: He’s a student though.
Momoka: Okay okay I got the solution. Let’s date.
*large commotion*
Momoka: Yeah yeah let’s hook up.
Ayabaa: With Momo-chan?
Momoka: Yeah it’s cool. But I’ll have you go and collect cockroaches with me so if that’s cool with you?
Maokyun: This is the type of person who goes into the mountains alone to collect cockroaches so
Momoka: Is that cool?
Fan #3: Yeah that’s cool
Momoka: Let’s go on a date then! A date! Cockroach date!
Aapon: So… did everyone’s problems get solved…?
Momoka: …this is going to be all over the internet
Maokyun: I bet it’s all over the internet already- Kondo Rina did this!
Riichan: I don’t really care if it goes on the internet
Maokyun: What a strong heart.
Yuipon: How about you apologise just in case?
Riichan: I’m sorry~ *crying motions*
Team M: Adorable!
Momoka: You’re taking the internet lightly
Maokyun: You never know what’s going to happen!
Yuipon: Let’s forgive her!
Nana: Well I guess… Team M tells it as it is!
Yuipon: It’s our good part.
Nana: Well… is it okay to continue Riichan’s Problem Solving room?
Fans: We’ll definitely come again!
Momoka: I bet every time we do this something weird is going to be written on the internet about us
Riichan: I’ll go read it
Team M: YOU CAN’T!
Reinyan: We’re already at the bottom of the pennant race thing!
Maokyun: Probably some crazy people would want to see this kind of thing in the flesh
Momoka: I’m sorry guys
Nana: Let’s work on our talk skills then, and if we can do another corner like this I bet it’d be really fun! We’ll work on making it a good part of our theatre performances then! Let’s make our final bows now.
*Team M bow, waves and goodbyes*

Momoka: Normally I’m the person who makes everything worse in the last comment but today I’m going to do the opposite… let’s just make everything you saw here today totally fiction!
