Napoleon builds an army - Andre e Nathalie
Napoleon builds an army
Napoleon was tired of Snowball’s idea of creating committees and trying to educate the animals. He thought Snowball was a delay. They had completely different ideas to command the farm, and Napoleon was sure that one of them had to take over. He was aware that Jessie and Bluebell were about to have the babies, and that was his first move. The nine little puppies were born, and Napoleon took them to raise and educate them.
The pig took the babies to a place that could only be reached by a ladder. He made a comfortable place, with hay all over the ground to keep it soft. In the first few weeks, he demanded most of his time with the puppies, making them see Napoleon as their parent, the one who raised them, and who they will trust. Every day, after the milking of the cows, Napoleon stole almost every bucket of milk and took it to the puppies. Soon they started talking and Napoleon began teaching them the seven commandments. Well, not specifically the seven commandments, he had changed some things. The normal commandments are:
Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
No animal shall wear clothes.
No animal shall sleep in a bed.
No animal shall drink alcohol.
No animal shall kill any other animal
All animals are equal.
Napoleon's ideas, and what he was teaching the puppies:
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than other
Napoleon didn’t care about drinking alcohol, wearing clothes, or sleeping in a bed. He thought intelligent animals were better, and by intelligent, he meant animals who agreed with him.
So Napoleon's plan started with raising the puppies, and then the plan was carried out with the other animals. Since the puppies would have strength and anger when they grew up, Napoleon could use the violence of the puppies in his favor to gain power on the farm.
While teaching the puppies he told things about Snowball, to make his image look bad. First of all, Napoleon said he discovered Snowball had plans to take over the farm, and that he needed the puppies to become strong and stop him, even if they have to kill Snowball.
Months passed and the dogs had grown. The winter was at its peak, and Snowball started his windmill plans. He had done research, and drawings and chosen the place. They were actually a good idea. But Napoleon disagreed. It couldn't enter his mind that Snowball was even thinking about building the windmill, because it was too much work and it wouldn't make much difference. He went to speak with the dogs and they immediately agreed with him. That’s when he knew the time had come. When Snowball presents his plan, the dogs will interfere and expel him.
Napoleon made a grunt, a strange one. He told the dogs to enter the room as they heard it.
The sunday had come. Every animal was there to hear about Snowball's windmill plan. The sheeps, one of Napoleon's supporters, started annoying Snowball by saying “four legs good, two legs bad”. Snowball got furious and said other good things about the windmill until he heard a grunt he and the other animals had never heard before. One second later Snowball wasn't on the farm anymore, and Napoleon was in charge.
Some time passed by and they constructed the windmill. Napoleon said it was his idea and the animals believed. But something was annoying him, he was mistrusting some animals that were being rebels. With the ambition of power, Napoleon got all those animals that betrayed him killed. But Napoleon did not get blood on his paws, it was the dogs, who received the command and killed all those that Napoleon ordered, without question at any moment, showing that they were educated only to obey even if the order was to kill another animal.
