Final project. This was our final day to show our fully developed piece. For this piece I added more tension, more yarn breaking across the frame, and I even added text. The sack was also torn open for the viewers to see the head more clearly. The intention was to have the viewer cut the bag open to free the head. I had trouble trying to figure out how to lure the viewer in. So I decided to create a letter that was written by this character. It was there to give more of a clear understanding of the piece and the direction I wanted them to go to.

When it comes to my work I don't necessarily think my social identities come to play very much. The only part of my social identity that comes to play in my work would be my identity as a female in society. In many of my works I like to express the struggles women go through or have gone though due to being a female in this society. Most of my work consists of the female body or a female face, which mainly represents me and what I go through as a female. However, that theme does not run through all my artworks. The rest of my works involve my own personal emotions and thoughts. And other works can just be of a creature I created in my mind.

Today we had another teach in, this time from my group. Our teach in was on Macrame. We each learned a different style and created these works on keychain holders. The materials consisted of some sort yarn or rope, scissors, some sort of clamp, and the key ring. It was a fun process learning these kind of knots. My favorite was the spiral, because it was simple yet beautiful. It's definitely a process I will be doing again in the future, it's something that can keep me there for hours.

Shibori. Today for class we spent time learning how to dye a shirt. What we had to do is create a design by pinching, folding, messing with our shirt and wrapping it with rubber bands. Later we soaked it in a solution and then added the colors. We waited and rinsed it off and unfolded it to see the outcome. It was a fun and easy process. I had a great time making something not knowing how the outcome will be. Definitely will be doing this again!

Inspirational artist, Kevin Yagher. Since I was a young kid I was always fascinated with horror movies. One of the first movies I fell in love with was the nightmare on elm street. Now that I'm older I see the work that was put into the face of this character. Faces are definitely my interest. The more scars, burns, bruises to the face the better. Freddy is a great example with burns running through his face. Kevin has worked on these faces using his special effects skills, something that keeps inspiring me now. Although we're not using the same materials I feel as though I can still create my characters using my own way.

When I'm in need of inspiration I tend to look about artwork from inspiration artists. Mainly those come from special effects makeup artist. I enjoy looking at faces and how they are manipulated. I also look at faces with bruises, scars, or wounds. Those photographs fascinate me and help me create my own faces with their own different characteristics. When it comes to music I'm not very inspired. I usually listen to anything that comes up on my music list while I'm working on my artwork. But mainly I just have these visions of faces in my head and that's usually when I start my next project.

A little fun with clay. Really wanting to see how fabric can join my ceramic work.

Second teach in. For this project I created a nest with a head trapped inside. I wanted to show the heads emotional escape. She is trying to escape and hide herself from this emotion. While this emotion being the background is trying to lure her in. It is more of a psychological approach to this feeling. For the next critique I plan to make the background more dense and more hungry for the head trapped inside.

I don't necessarily see my work relating to any current movement or direction in visual art or culture. I do however want to create artwork that is "pushing the limit". Artwork that shows the evil side of people. Perhaps creating artwork that tests the limit of what people don't want to see.

This days teach in was all about coiling. There was a variety of different samples shown using this process. It is a time consuming project but very versatile. It's a process I will definitely be using for personal projects. The outcome of this process is very beautiful and carries lots of movement.

This days teach in was all about knots. It was a fun experience to be able to learn about not only making different knots but also learning how these knots can be used. They all hold a different use. Some were harder to learn then others but overall everyday did a good job guiding us through the process.

Netting. This day in class was dedicated to netting. For this we need a shuttle, mesh stick, string, and a clamp. The shuttle was used to hold a lot of string, and the mesh stick was used to determine how large or small the empty space of the net would come out. At first it was quite tricky to get the hang out of, but after watching closely when It was being demonstrated it was fast to pick up. However after starting a new row it was difficult to start over again. Overall it was fun to try out and after a while it was getting more entertaining. #nettingsamples

Sewing. This day was dedicated to learning how to use the sewing machines. We used small sheets of fabric and practiced just feeling out the machine. I first went over it by creating a straight line, just to be able to get a little comfortable. As soon as I felt how the machine worked I tried to create a pattern and sewing that together to keep it in place. It was fun having to feel out the machine but it鈥檚 not something I see myself using anytime soon. Maybe until I find out how else I can use it. #sewingsamples

Project Part One. This week in class we presented our first part of our overall project. For this piece I wanted to show emotion and feelings. I never make work that looks abstract or that goes by pure emotions, so this project is definitely out of my comfort zone. I wanted to create a piece that represents the "brush strokes" on a canvas. When I painted a piece by letting my emotions control the brush I came out with a similar look. The frame shows it as a painting and the red marks shows the anxious mood of the piece, the circular objects are the little small areas of a little breather. This first piece is meant to be a backdrop for my overall piece. It's supposed to set the mood of what I'm trying to go for. I plan to add more yarn to increase the density of the piece and I also plan to extend the piece.
