Yall did you hear you can turn off autoplay of netflix previews?? DID YOU HEAR?? You log on, go to manage profiles, select the profile, then deselect “autoplay previews on all devices” or whatever and then you cry and cry and cry because your spd ass has been so fucking traumatized from maneuvering a minefield of self-squawking ads that you are literally fucking crying because you can turn off a stupid autoplay like how did it take you so long

Sensory overload/disorganization in plain English for neurotypicals because I get tired of people not understanding no matter how many ways I try to explain it
Those weird little skin aches you sometimes get with a fever
Nausea – sometimes to a massive extent, sometimes triggered by a relatively small detail, and sometimes with very little warning
Vertigo
Headaches of any and all varieties
Claustrophobia and/or agoraphobia (even in someone who normally doesn’t have these problems)
Snappiness and/or low patience because the bad stuff won’t go away soon enough and the good stuff is too much work to attain
Hunger and/or dehydration (which you sometimes don’t always fully realize until you’ve started eating or drinking something)
You just…forget what words should feel like in your mouth so you stop trying to word (speech breakdown). Can range from partial to total. Typically a separate issue from understanding what others are saying, but it depends on how bad a situation is.
You can’t differentiate between background noise and someone talking to you. It’s not that you can’t hear something, you just forget how to block out irrelevant noise because you’re stuck on a certain couple of details for some reason. It’s sort of like someone played with the knobs on a stereo and now your speaker balance is horrendously skewed.
Big Tired™
Overheating or a very flushed face (possible even if the surroundings are at literal freezing point)
Not paralysis, but…nothing in your body is in the right place?? and for awhile you sort of forget what your limbs and digits are for?? Sometimes outwardly looks like clumsiness, lethargy, or intoxication. Can be as minor as dropping something/knocking something over or as severe as falling down or not being able to move a limb.
Symptoms might or might not happen in a certain order
Symptoms might or might not be isolated
Tolerance/breaking point can be inconsistent from day to day and person to person, but “pushing past it” is a vicious lie so please never say that to someone. The fact that most sufferers will have to deal with it for the entirety of their lives doesn’t mean they’re less bothered by it. Pain is pain.
Meltdowns (outwardly obvious because screaming, fussing etc.) and shutdowns (outwardly almost invisible because quiet people are often mistaken for being calm or polite) are equally possible and equally serious, but plenty of sufferers also sit somewhere in the middle. Please don’t assume that someone who doesn’t bounce to an extreme doesn’t have a sensory crisis. Social constructs or toxic conditioning can also significantly change how someone tries to react under this kind of pressure, compel them to mask/hide symptoms, or even shrug them off as “just having a bad day” if prompted.
(Sufferers feel free to add to the list - these are only what I personally have noticed in my own experience)

Explaining sensory overload and hypersensitivity to neurotypicals
so in a discord im in, me and @kuonabnaq started explaining hypersensitivity and sensory overload in terms people who dont experience them will understand and i thought they’d be useful to people! i’ve seen sensory overload and hypersensitivity explained decently, but never in ways people who don’t experience them will understand well so here’s some ways!
Sound
yknow that feeling you get from nails on a chalkboard? every sound does that
or yknow that feeling you get from nails on a chalkboard? every sound i cant control does that (since sometimes music helps - its a controllable sound)
Vision
“when you come out of a movie theater and the sun just pokes your eyes” - that, with every colour in my vision field
or the light at the dentist which goes right into your eyes, but with all light (including lights, colors, etc..)
Touch
when you forget that the sand on the beach is painfully hot and stand for a second too long, but with all contact
or when you get a bad grape but with everything
Smell
smell is when you walk past someone with a ton of perfume/cologne but for everything
or one of those really weird acids you have in chemistry, you know? Those that just shoot right up to the back of your head when you make the mistake of smelling it directly.
or walking into a lush/bath and body works/other similar store, but always  (first and third are especially good if you want to highlight the ‘even good smells are bad smells’ thing)

Shutdown/meltdown vs. sensory overload vs. panic attack?
Hello anon! I’m going to break these down the best I can.
Panic Attacks
First up is panic attacks. The following information is taken from the Anxiety and Depression Association of America:
“A panic attack is the abrupt onset of intense fear or discomfort that reaches a peak within minutes and includes at least four of the following symptoms:
Palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate
Sweating
Trembling or shaking
Sensations of shortness of breath or smothering
Feelings of choking
Chest pain or discomfort
Nausea or abdominal distress
Feeling dizzy, unsteady, light-headed, or faint
Chills or heat sensations
Paresthesia (numbness or tingling sensations)
Derealization (feelings of unreality) or depersonalization (being detached from oneself) Listen to this podcast.
Fear of losing control or “going crazy”
Fear of dying”
Sensory Overload
A sensory overload is the result of too much sensory input. A person’s threshold for sensory stimuli can vary from day to day so what’s too much one day might not affect the person another day. The following are some common traits of sensory overload, though there will be variance in experience:
Irritability
Touch aversion
Lights seem brighter
Sounds seem louder
Increased stimming
Reslessness
Difficulty concentrating
Unexplained anger
Getting annoyed by every little thing
Nausea
Headache
Meltdown/Shutdown
A meltdown or shutdown is often what comes of sensory overload if the overloading stimuli is not able to be avoided. The following is taken from our FAQ:
“Shutdowns and meltdowns are what happens when your system becomes too overloaded, whether due to sensory overload, too strong emotions, or too much stress. It is a “fight or flight” type response that is activated by our systems becoming overloaded.
A shutdown is an internalized reaction to the overwhelm. A person may lose the ability to talk if they are normally verbal, may be unable to move or have great difficulty moving, and retreat inwards. A shutdown typically lasts until the cause of the meltdown has been removed or resolved and enough time has passed for the system to recover.
A meltdown is the externalized reaction to overwhelm. A person may yell, shout, hit or kick, throw things, cry, or other outward signs of aggression and distress. However, while a person may seem aggressive during a meltdown, typically they are just trying to get away from whatever is causing distress. Once a stressor is gone, a meltdown will typically begin to alleviate. However, for both meltdowns and shutdowns, a person may need several hours or several days to recover from the experience.”
I hope this helps you figure things out!

Hello everyone!
I’m very excited to unveil this path that I have been using in my town!
It goes great for in-between spaces and as a large paved area. If there is enough interest then I will release the codes for the stairs. (◡‿◡˶)
Enjoy~!
Mossy stone stairs here
