The current state of social media ethics: what trends are happening in the industry? What are two current cases related to social media ethics? Outline the current code of ethics for social media by a professional organization you would be interesting in joining as part of their social media staff.
Facebook announced it would rebrand itself as Meta. The Company will begin trading under the ticker MVRS on Dec. 1. The founder Mark Zuckerberg made an apparent move to de-emphasize the Company's most successful product and reorient itself around a vision of a virtual-reality-enabled future that Meta's executives admit, based on today's technology can't yet exist. I feel like another reason they're trying to do this is to get people to look away from some of the not-so-ethical hate that Facebook got for a while because of taking people's information.
COCA-COLA Expectations for Associates' Personal Behavior in Online Social Media are
.Adhere to the Code of Business Conduct and other applicable policies.
. You are responsible for your actions.
. Be a "scout" for compliments and criticism. Even if you are not an official online spokesperson for the Company, you are one of our most vital assets for monitoring the social media landscape.
. Let the subject matter experts respond to negative posts.
.Be conscious when mixing your business and personal lives.
Brands/professionals with strong social media ethical codes: what brands are utilizing proper social media ethical practices? Are there any professionals that you feel practice strong ethical behavior on social media? Support your choice with evidence. What are some takeaways you can bring forth in your own practices?
I feel like Coca-Cola is a brand that is a very uniting front on all social media platforms that likes to bring a positive light into this world. By adding social media, they're very accepting of all different cultures, genders, and ethnicities, different shape, size, and look. Their goal is to make one big family through everyone. By 1939, Coca-Cola decided shorter was not sweeter and adopted this wordy slogan: "Whoever You Are, Whatever You Do, Wherever You May Be, When You Think of Refreshment Think of Ice Cold Coca-Cola." with this statement, they're showing that they don't care who you are. Even write on their web page, they show that they support gay rights. they have a very strong ethical code and keep this going throughout all their social media
Key concepts and issues: what main concepts do you are necessary to adhere to for your own personal conduct online?
There are different things you should follow for your conduct online. I feel like treating people online as if we were in person is a really good thing to do. Allowance for a better connection in a more genuine conversation. I also feel like not doing in Fancher and keeping an open mind about different things is great. Trolls are people who hate on people who are annoying and cringe. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so I feel like fighting with people online about something that doesn't matter does anything. Just be respectful to one another and keep an open mind about other people's opinions.
What to do and what not to do: what main concepts do you feel strongly against and want to make sure you avoid on social media?
I really want to avoid trolling and online bullying. It is a toxic community. It's going to happen to everyone at some point being bullied online, but I'd like to stay out of it. I feel that everyone is equal and that no one should be judged for how they look and act.
Bullet point 5-10 core concepts that you will follow as a practicing social media professional. Include citations that you used for sources/supports for this.
Media Messages Shape Our Perceptions of Reality
Media have embedded values and points of view.
Media Messages Embed Points of View
Most media messages are organized to gain profit or power.
Different people experience the same media message differently.
Media messages are constructed using a creative language with its own rules.

Boy Scouts changed my life
Today I would like to take a look at a nonprofit group, Boy Scouts of America. I was part of what does America myself since I was seven years old. Boy Scouts has been a big part of my life and has played many critical roles in who I am today. Wall, each Boy Scout Troop, has the social media platforms that they mainly use with their own groups for their own Community. The Boy Scouts of America have their own verified account foremost online platform. Looking at their Instagram, they have almost 90,000 followers with 2,150 posts made, with each other posts getting about a couple of thousand likes. They have about eighty thousand followers on Twitter with 3,700 tweets, mostly the same stuff that they have on Facebook. Boy Scouts of America even have their own YouTube channel with 15600 subscribers, with most of their videos getting about a thousand to two thousand views, but their most popular video has over a hundred and sixty thousand views.
If you go to the Boy Scouts of America's website www.scouting.org, you can find a lot of information about them. Including "Since its inception in 1910, more than 130 million young men and women have participated in the BSA's youth programs. More than 35 million adult volunteers have helped carry out the BSA's mission.". According to scout.Org, they have about 1.2 million youth participants each year. Still, it does sound like many participants prospectively. It is very minute compared to how many youths are in the United States. According to census.gov, there are a little over 328 million people living in the United States. Over 22% of them ( 73 Million) are under the age of 18.
Again each group is also going to have its social media platforms for each particular troop. Boy Scouts of America does not advertise their organization that much. They also do not promote any of their social media platforms for everyone, not just trooped-based. To help boost their advanced metric and vanity metrics, they could have some advertisements, whether on Billboards or even on the radio or TV, which could help boost Boy Scouts' acknowledgment and help them find more information about them. Also, linking their main account to the smaller Community accounts for the Troops could also help boost their ratings and views, and likes for all their main accounts. This wood will help with how many people click through their stuff and possibly leave likes and comments and follow more property.
We can even see this in recent events when the Boy Scouts allowed girls to be part of their scouting adventures. This made a lot of press and buzz about the Boy Scouts and made it so that they had a lot more click-through about their information. This made a lot of headlines and even in some well-known companies such as The CNN. If you would like to read their article and video, you can go to https://www.cnn.com/2019/02/01/us/boy-scouts-girls-trnd/index.html to take a look. Or even in more recent news, two weeks ago, CBS posted an article about how a female in colorado became an Eagle scout. you can learn more about that at https://denver.cbslocal.com/2021/02/08/colorado-girl-eagle-scout/
To help with the BSA Channel metrics, maybe posting more videos of actual families out on camping trips on their live feeds, even on their YouTube channel, to get more insight into what families are doing and how they can connect would help. This would give people a better understanding and connect with it more and want to have the kids join in. Posting Instagram lives or Facebook lies giving a brief insight on what is happening could allow people to see that kids are having fun outside learning and growing a new family of friends. I think too many of these things would also help their behavioral metrics. I also think showing what the kids are doing with the money they raised from their Community. It would get more click-throughs to get more likes, see more results, and have people more involved and experience what they are giving towards. Seeing pictures of young boys and girls learning how to do CPR or other helpful life skills to help the Community from the donated money could drastically change how many people are involved in scouting, donating, and volunteering.
I have also added some pictures from the BSA Instagram for you to take a look at. if you would like to see more photos to see what Boy Scouts is about, you can go directly to their Instagram https://www.instagram.com/boyscoutsofamerica/

Week 1
How would I define social media?
Well, I feel like that's not an easy question to answer. Social media itself is so much and is forever changing. Social media is a group of platforms that connects the world. It allows us to know what people are doing around the world live. It is a place where people can consume information and entertainment, post information, and all kinds of content. Social media such as Facebook and Instagram allow us to stay in touch with family and friends. Social media has evolved so much that you can even make a living off of producing content. In short, I would Define social media as a bunch of platforms where people can post and consume information connecting the whole world to one big community.
How would I characterize myself as a social media user?
I have been using different forms of social media since I was in my late Elementary years on Facebook. Once I reached Middle school, I had more freedom and had many different types of social media such as Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube, etcetera. I would say I'm pretty well-versed in getting around in most of the social media platforms. But I use social media mainly for the consumption of entertainment and information. Wall I post pictures and some info about me and my life on social media here and there is not the central part of why I use it.
What do I consider to be my strengths in my understanding of social media? What are my challenges?
I'm pretty good at understanding and adapting to new features and rules that different platforms add to their sites. I'm also really good at knowing what's going on and what trends are popular. I'm also quick to understand when I post things on specific platforms, whether it's going to work or not ( not that I'm a trendy person in the first place).
In the social media world, I have difficulty finding what people are interested in what will grab their attention. I know that I don't get many views, likes, or comments on anything that I post, and I'm okay with that, but it is a challenge for me to get people's attention with what I have to offer. Again I don't set out to be a famous person on social media; I have most social media to contact my friends.
What is it that I want to get out of this class and beyond (related to social media)?
I want to get out of this class is to know how to entice people to attract people more to what I post what I have to offer. Not just for myself and my type supposed but for also business types of post. I have joy in editing pictures and videos, and I feel like if I can know what entices people more what helps people be attracted to certain things, I can take that information and put it into what I'm working on. I would be able to do particular advertisements for the company I work at ( or any company I work with or for in the future)
