trans reki headcanons

summary: my random thoughts on trans!reki and his journey as cisn't

a/n: i have english homework to do but here we are. it’s canon fight me.

realized he was trans when he was around 8 or 9

he was talking to some of the kids in his class because he saw one of them skating and he thought it was so cool

so he asked how to get started as a saker

and the kid told him that he couldn't do it because he was a girl

reki was devastated first of all

and second of all he realized he didn't like being called a girl

at first he thought it was just because he had been told that he was a girl under hurtful circumstances

but as time went on he realized that even when the people he loved called him girly and femminine things he was uncomfortable

naturally, he talks to his mom

bc she's the best, duh

i can just see lil reki who was in the middle of his childhood crisis looking up at his mom with tears in his eyes because he thought he was just weird

and his mom looks at her child, crying at the table, and decides to take him to try to buy a skateboard

she hugs him and whispers sweet comforting words to him

once he calms down they go shopping together for new clothes

(reki already had short hair and he l o v e d i t)

but what we learn from this shopping extravagansa is that reki has horrible fashion sense

like he is litterally throwing any hoodie and pair of basketball shorts on and calling it a day

this annoys his sister to no ends and she ends up going into his closet one night and putting all of the matching pants and shirts together on one hanger

reki's dad was never really present in his life so he has no clear father figure to look up to

because of this, young reki became emotionally attached to every male teacher or mentor he ever had

he started skating shortly after he started transitioning as his mom tried to buy him a board when he told her his realization story and my boy insisted that he wanted to save and get one himself

he only bought one board in his life, all the rest he made, and he keeps them all in his room

the one he bought himself as a first board is sitting on the top shelf next to his magazines

he decided not to attempt to do hormone therapy at first but ultimately went on t when he was around 15

reki also got top surgery as a teen and he had to fight like hell to be able to get the surgery AND to get prescribed testosterone

he got so high off the anesthesia he ended up hitting on the nurse in recovery

his mom told him about it a few days later when he was feeling better and reki just went beet red

he never wanted to show his face there again

I like to think that when he was in the emergency room after he faced adam he was paranoid every nurse he talked to was the one he hit on

when cherry showed up reki panicked at first because he thought he was a nurse and had some very awkward storytelling to do

miya hears and NEVER lets him live it down

everyone knows reki is bisexual, and when reki himself first realizes he's attracted to guys he has a mini gender crisis because he thought it was all or nothing when it came to gay

and this means, with his already established love for women, him also loving men was ???/?// not very man??//??/

he's a little oblivious but it's fine because he talks to his sister about it and she smacks him and tells him what ~bisexuality~ is

has the absolute best support system from his mom and sisters to his friends at S

once he painted the trans flag on the bottom of his skateboard and got asked by a kid if he was a communist

when reki told langa he was trans, langa went home and asked his mom to help him make a cake

no reason other than he wanted to show his friend he was proud of him for telling him and being himself

langa's mom thinks its adorable and does the i-will-pinch-your-cheeks-every-time-i-see-you-like-an-aunt-or-something to reki every time langa has him over

reki got obsessed with calling everyone "dude" and "man" and "bro" in the first few years of him being out

it was pure hell for the kids in his class but they went along with it anyway because he was always super nice

a few of his friends have some old videos of this phase and regularly remind him of it as a running joke

the S fam all wore trans pride pins one year for pride month and someone started the rumor that cherry was the trans one

no one bothered to correct them but miya thought it was hilarious and made him a "best mom" t-shirt

any of his friends will beat transphobes in the streets

ESPECIALLY SHADOW

like he takes absolutely no shit from anyone when it comes to respecting trans ppl

there's a legend around S that one time shadow put three fully grown men in the hospital for misgendering reki

to this day no one knows if it's true or not

he lends all of his childhood clothes that he had before he realized to his little sisters

the type to forget he's trans sometimes

this leads to a lot of very confused people that don't know him well wondering if he is in fact trans or not

once a kid in his class was told he was trans and reki just never mentioned it and the poor child thought he was a trans girl and reki laughed his ass off when he asked about it

anyways everyone loves him 1000/10 recommend staning reki
