I love how Felicity is waking everyone up to the fact that while they have gone on with their lives and made peace with everything, her life - her family -has been turned upside down. It is not okay and she can’t move on with her life because her life is locked away in prison - something he did to protect the rest of them and allow them to continue to live their lives.
Felicity makes sure they realize that everything is NOT okay and Oliver didn’t give himself up for NOTHING.
Her relentlessness to fight for her family and her life is empowering and heartwrenching at the same time. Empowering because we get to see her take charge and show that feistiness and strength in action. Heartbreaking because she feels she has to do it alone.
Her conversation with John broke my heart because when she came on to the Arrow team, it was just John and Oliver. They weren’t a team…they were something, but they weren’t a team. She made them not just a team, but a family.
“These last 6 years meant something to me.”
They meant everything to her. They gave her a bigger purpose. They gave her the love of her life, a son, and a brother she never had. They gave her a family. And then it was all taken away. And she can’t understand why her brother - the man that married her - that protected her, taught her, comforted her, reminded her not to give up a time or two - won’t help her now. She knows he has his own family…but they were family too. So she has to wonder why he won’t help her get her family back. She’d do the same for him…she HAS done the same for him.
Because it’s his family too.

That episode was disappointing.
I’m very tired of these writers thinking that their audience isn’t interested in happiness for the characters we’ve loved for seven years. We’re four episodes in and John and Lyla are the only ones I care about who have had a single nice moment.
I understand that Olicity’s time will probably come with a reunion, but this is a bit too much. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re separated, that Felicity is in so much pain and all alone, and that Oliver is being tortured and criticized for the same things we’ve already seen him go through a million times. I was ready for some angst and pain…not to watch them be put through hell for four (definitely five with next week’s promo) episodes straight.
And that last “Felicity’s dead” (used for shock factor only) was infuriating. Now all I see is fuckboys celebrating, people worrying it’s true, or others having to explain that it’s obviously a fake-out. I’ve never wanted to take a break from fandom more than right now. This season is reminding me why I stopped watching The Walking Dead. It’s not fun to watch the heroes constantly suffer. I understand that this season wouldn’t be as bad if season 6 hadn’t been so awful. But it can’t just be ignored. After that bullshit, Oliver, Felicity, and William deserved a second to breathe.
I want to see heroes in quiet moments between all the action, too.
I want to see them win, even if its small victories. Toss in some little bads for them to take down. Let Felicity gain some kind of ground on Diaz. Give John Diggle his personality back. This season has mostly just been everyone I like suffering and everyone I don’t like complaining. Maybe my hopes were a bit too high!

Felicity Smoak continoued to do IT related tasks for Oliver despite the fact that he’s clearly lying to her just because she feels she can trust him = selfish?
Felicity Smoak joins team Arrow just because her boss was nice to her and she wants to help him = selfish?
Felicity Smoak pushes Oliver to do some real good for the city (to become the hero she knows he is) and puts her life on the line daily to save her city however she can = selfish?
Felicity Smoak refuses to leave the bunker during the undertaking and is willing to go out to diffuse the earthquake machine = selfish?
Felicity Smoak searches for Oliver to drag him back to society and upgrades his bunker probably with the money he left instead of using it on herself = selfish?
Felicity Smoak takes a bullet for Sara and puts herself in direct danger by Slade to fundamentally depower him and save the city = selfish?
Felicity Smoak is willing to take a needle full of vertigo if it means keeping Oliver’s soul in tact by not breaking his no kill promise = selfish?
Felicity Smoak, whilst hanging like a monkey from Oliver, tells him to let her go because she thinks she dead weight holding him back and that without her he’ll probably escape the bunker = selfish?
Felicity Smoak is willing to make some heavy decisions to take the burden off Oliver’s shoulders even if it’s impossibly hard =selfish?
Felicity Smoak breaks up with Oliver because she feels like he doesn’t trust her, because she knows her self worth and refuses to settle for less than she deserves = selfish?
Felicity Smoak takes on an armed Diaz knowing she wont win so that William could escape = selfish?
