Short Documentary Research - Idea 2

Summery

For my documentary, I will be interviewing a man called Davie Mollins. Davie is a professional piercer who works for studio 13 which also does tattoos. The documentary will be about how Davie got into doing piercings, some of his favorites and some of his weird experiences with doing the job. the target audience would be 16 and up.

Feedback

Might be difficult to get cutaways because he doesn't own the shop and people might not want to be filmed.

Might be hard to get Davie on the filming days as he might be working.

Some of the questions i ask might not be relevant piercing.

Practicalities

This is practical because Davie said that he is available on my filming days. Davie will be able to give a good level of commitment because he is very enthusiastic about helping me make this documentary. There will be a travel cost as we will need to take the bus to make it to the location.

Concept with feedback

With this feedback i have been given, i will need to meet with Davie beforehand and go over the questions i will ask him and check if they are relevant to piercing. I will also check if there is anything that he doesn't want to be asked so i am able to prepare more questions.

For cutaways, I will ask Davie to send me some pictures of the equipment he uses for doing piercings if i am not aloud to film in the shop.

I chose this short documentary because it is about the same subject area as my own documentary. She talks about how she was interested in piercing, when she got her first one and the one she is about to get. the only down side of this documentary is that it��s from the  perspective of the person getting the piercing rather that the piecers perspective. The film is about 3 mins long so it is a great example of what i can do.

Summary

For my documentary, i will be interviewing a band that i enjoy called SLIX. They are based in Scotland, Greenock and just started there journey on March 2019. The documentary would be about the struggles of starting a band but i would end it on a good note.  The target audience for this program would be 15 and up.

Unfortunately this idea can’t be done because i had reached out to the band via Instagram cause they are very active on it and they had not responded to my message.

With the feedback I have been given, I will explore more topics within the subject area, such as what were some of the obstacles to get there first song on Spotify and getting there artist profile set up.

I choose this documentary because it show what some of the difficulties with recording a song for a album but it also shows the singers having fun while doing it. This is only act one of a three part documentary on the Gorillaz the whole documentary is 1 hour and 42 mins long. If I keep the band on topic while interviewing them i will be able to do it in 3 mins.
