When I was little, my Dad told me about how other travellers would tie patra - leaves, or bunches of twigs - as a kind of signpost for anybody who got left behind. So this is yours. I mean, I kind of figured flowers and chocolates weren't really your thing, and... I don't know. I feel like sometimes people need reminding that they aren't alone, and haven't been left behind. So...yeah." 

Cal's eyes watered. He looked away and wiped them, then smiled back at Dick.

"Thanks. I...Thank you."

He cradled the leaf for a moment, then lunged out and caught Dick up in a big bear hug.
