Oh hello there.

[It crouched to the boy's level, the unreadable expression on its face was a bit unbearable since, well— its a hivemind of bugs. However, the tone of its voice showed a level of.. neutrality. Perhaps percieved friendliness to a small child who might not know what is going on.]

We haven't seen kids like you yet before... We like your hair.

[It.. 'smiled'. Not really, the eyesockets that is supposed to be where what human eyes are curved in a way that makes it look charmingly nice.]

What is your name, hm?

The little boy looked at him with glossy eyes, leaning in with curiosity, drawn in almost like a moth to flame. Entranced.

“Brick. My name’s Brick. Who’re you? I don’t think I’ve heard nobody talk like that before, weeeee, it’s funny!”

He smiled and giggled a little, excited to see something so new. Ignoring the quiet around him, or the buzzing in his ears.

“You don’t have a mouth… so I guess I’ve never seen someone like you either! What’s your name? Would you like to play with me? Be my friend! Oh I’d love a friend! It gets awful lonely in the woods, I can’t go around the sun, mum says. Are you the same? Do you melt up like ice cream too?”

His cheeks perked up in a smile, excited to meet someone like him. He looked expectantly, hoping for a response, looking up to the thing as a child would to their father for validation. Too young to realize the danger, or too foolish to consider it. Entering the mouth of the beast with ease, lacking the constraints of inhibition, and rushing into joy. Wishing for, no, expecting, comfort, which had been implied by a kind life.

A childlike wonder in his eyes, and a simple trusting innocence.

“Wow really? Yay! I haven’t met any one else to play with other than the littluns yet and they’re nice but they keep story hogging when we play pretend and they don’t even know how to play checkers! Can you play checkers? That’s ok if you can’t I like every game. Except tag, oh I really don’t like tag. I’ve only played it a few times but I didn’t like it. Oh and football. Oh how I hate football, I kept falling over when I played one time with the lads at school and me mum had to pick me up. What do you want to play? Oh! I found some sticks. Not sharp ones like the painted lads use but they’re good sticks! Very good!”

Brick’s face bore the biggest smile as he sort of hopped up and down with excitement.

A little boy was messing around in the woods with the littluns. He was a bit taller than them, but still bore the clear look of childhood. In a quick second he noticed Evan and perked up.

“Hello! You’re not a little-one, who are you? I’m Brick! My family is Scottish, are you Scottish? I am. You look around my age? Oo! Do you want to play?! What’s your name?”

Sal looks off to the side, clutching his arm. He almost looks like a neglected as abused puppy, anxious and afraid. It's as if he has more anxiety than he has hair in, which he definitely doesn't have a shortage of.

"Brick? That's unique... No, i am not Scottish, and my name is Evan.."

"Sure, i'd like to play. Just for a bit.. You seem very nice! You look very unique as well.. matches the name, i guess - not in a rude way of course!"
