Acts 4:1-12
Theme: Jesus The Chief Cornerstone.
Cornerstone is a ceremonial stone set at the corner of a building, joining two exterior walls, and often inscribed with the starting and completion dates of construction.
God does not exist for us but we do for Him
We have eyes but not seeing, ears but can not hear (What are we hearing and seeing in this global shutdown)?
-Economic crisis
-Fear
-Failure
-Covid19
-Diseases without cure
-Questions without answers
-Smelling death
-Two controversial verses-
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
GREAT MEN MENTIONED
- Annas= Convener (Chair).
- John= President of the Great Synagogue (Bishop)
- Caiaphas= The Chief high priest.
- Alexander= Brother of Philo
(I) Annas the high priest. as in Luke 3:2 He had convened the meeting, and came in as if to dominate its proceedings.
(II) John. Reeported by Jewish writers to have been at the height of his fame forty years before the destruction of the Temple, and to have been President of the Great Synagogue after its removal to Jamnia.
(III) Caiaphas. The high priest
(IV) Alexander. This name has been identified by many scholars with Alexander, the brother of Philo
Peters helps us to realise that:
- We are but human
- Limited in thinking
- Our intelligence means nothing
- We are powerless
- We owe it to God
We need to believe who Jesus is and what He came to do on the cross.
We need to repent, believe and be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
God bless you!
