spn being censored like. we never really got the good slice of life parts of the show. the boys in 8+ hr long car drives. the lulls between hunts where dean’s climbing the walls in the bunker and sam is going on jogs 24/7. cas and dean watching movies and texting each other casually- all the conversations that are referenced to something they’ve talked about that we never saw. jack forcing his dads to watch riverdale with him. dinner time :) ! eileen and sam going on dates. eileen hanging out with any of tfw 2.0 that isnt sam. sam and cas being better friends than we saw in canon. there’s so much sol material that can be sapped from this show and shanti said it best with saying that spn would’ve been better if it did the community thing of having the scenes during the credits be these soft domestic scenes that wouldn’t have otherwise fit in canon

i do love that mary was an episode one fridge who came back a couple times to be the ghost who sacrifices herself for her kids AGAIN and be dean’s best memory as a kid. pretty run of the mill for someone who is a woman on cw’s the supernatural. and then she get UNFRIDGED for male euphoria she’s literally a reward and that could have played out sooo bad but instead she’s like. um. this kind of sucks? and i don’t like it? so i’m going to leave. bye. im not saying its hashtag woke or whatever but from a narrative perspective it IS hashtag fresh and cool much more than the alternative of her neatly sliding into the role of valorized mother

supernatural is at its core about reckoning with what haunts you. monsters, god, and the end of the world literalize the conflicts happening interpersonally. so it is reasonable to ask, if the penultimate episode extinguishes the power of the divine, what does the final episode say about the damage wrought to the mundane? does that which was broken heal when the thing that broke it is no more? does the haunting end when you gank the ghost or when you stop carrying the gun?
